The Russia-Ukraine War Is Primarily a Religious Conflict

What liberal media doesn't tell you is that the conflict is actually between Ukrainian Orthodox and Russian Orthodox Christianity.

First, religion is highly important to both parties. 57% of Russians and 51% of Ukrainians contend that one must be Orthodox to be "truly" Russian or Ukrainians respectively. However, the difference in the version of Christian Orthodoxy creates religious tensions. Additionally, around half of both say that religious leaders -- including Russia's Patriarch of Moscow and Ukraine's Patriarch of Kiev -- have influence in politics.

Second, eastern Ukraine is religiously more sympathetic to Russia. Eastern Ukrainians are more supportive of the Patriarch of Moscow than western Ukrainians and are more supportive of Russia protecting Orthodox Christians across the globe. Hence, eastern Ukrainians are more pro-Russia.

One of the most damning proofs is that, since the outbreak of the war, the Patriarch of Moscow has said that any Russian soldiers who die in the war will be forgiven for his sins.

The reason why foreign countries are supporting either side is for geopolitical reasons as opposed to religious. However, the conflict between Ukraine and Russia directly is religious. Disregard the propaganda from both sides and you arrive at reality: it is a religious conflict.
