Lucifer

You can trust him with the remote, I swear. Will he be fair? Of course not! But he also will not do anything that would create a scene. He may turn it on a low setting when MC is not in a situation where they need to be focused, expecting them to maintain and carry themselves with dignity. He wants to push them to their limits, but without causing a scene.

Mammon

He is going to abuse that remote. Whenever he is alone with MC, he will turn it on just to watch them squirm. He also has no sense of control, so he will be flipping the settings on that thing constantly just to see all of their reactions. Yes, he would fuck them while they are getting overstimulated by that thing.

Leviathan

He has been given too much power. He will play with that remote like a toy and he won't give a crap where or when he does it. He expects MC to contain their reactions when they are in public or else he will get jealous. Only he is allowed to see how cute their face gets when he plays with that remote.

Satan

He is going to use that remote to train MC. He starts with researching which settings they like and which ones they don't. Then it's a simple task of positive reinforcement and negative punishment. It's all perfectly logical and MC will be shaking before long. They will be absolutely perfect before long... yes, there may be some reading of erotica (out loud) while he sets it off. For fun.

Asmodeus

He gets a remote, MC gets a remote. They will play together and drive each other mad. It'll be so much fun for both of them and he can't wait to see who goes crazy first~

Did you think he would be nice about the remote? HA! He's absolutely terrible because he likes watching MC squirm and jerk. He will be playing with those settings just to see which one makes MC lose their mind. He can keep going for as long as it takes them to beg for the real thing instead.

Belphegor

For him, that remote is a tool to control MC. He is a little devil. Everyone time they mildly annoyed him, he will turn it to the highest setting. Or if he wants them to come to wherever he is. Or if he's bored...

Diavolo

Do you want to be cursed to an overstimulation hell? Because that is what you will get. He knows it make them feel good and he wants to make them feel good, so he will be using it liberally. May have them sit in his lap while it's on so he can see their humming face up close.

Barbatos

Another man who uses the remote to train and discipline MC. Good behavior shall be rewarded. Bad decisions shall be punished. MC shall leave in fear of that remote... and every other part of him, to be fair. Barbatos doesn't need a remote to train MC.

Simeon

He's so kind and sweet and benevolent... and that vibrator is a punishment. Who knew angels could be so cruel? He will be mindful of time and place, but he will also have MC begging for mercy, setting it off as he lectures them about their behavior and actions. Maybe turn it on while they are praying for fun... Or maybe that is just my wishful thinking...

Solomon

He thinks this could be more fun. He will use it to motivate his apprentice... or to mess with them because he is actually a menace. It is unpredictable when he turns it on and how intense. He may leave it on all day. Who can say? He can. Only he can...

I may try to reinstall Noctilucent sometime. Since, apparently they’ve fixed some of the issues. It was a literal nightmare on my device how it ran.

It runs so much better now. I haven't had a crash since the first two months. Although, I do sometimes have loading issues, but I have those with every game so it's not a Noctilucent problem.

I just really want people to try this game T^T

Same anon from before, the MC is also is one of the reasons I quit as well. Eiden from Nu:C is a great one.

I feel like Eiden is the gold standard for 18+ protagonists. He is a fully fleshed out character with a thought out backstory and well developed relationships with the cast. His characterization is consistent, his motivations make sense, and his actions are predictable if you know who he is rather then feeling jerked around by the plot.

I also tend to like the Ikemen protagonists who dont feel as strong as Eiden (since each variation is slightly different depending on the man you are pursuing), but feel well developed according to the route.

I'm still deciding how strong Anli (Noctilucent) is as a character. Most of the cast around him is pretty strong and I feel he can sometimes get washed out because of it. He is a caring person, clever, empathetic. I just wish he seemed like he was enjoying the H scenes a bit more (he often looks like he's confused or surprised during them). Which, I get. He's not like Eiden who is incredibly sexual. Anli starts the game as a virgin who has never had a partner before. Also, he's a submissive. Even when he tops, it's all service top energy.

As for the LADS protagonist... she is a mixed bag for me. Sometimes she feels incredibly clever and other times she is dumb as a bag of rocks. She is hard working. She feels like she changes her character a bit depending on the guy she is with (why did she turn so dumb during Sylus part???) I really need to see these men interact. It feels like they MC is living five separate lives. Hell! Zayne and Caleb were childhood friends! Shouldn't Zayne at least react to anything about Caleb. I actually think the game suffers for not letting the men interact, especially as their plots start to collide.

Sorry. I rambled about all the protagonists I'm currently dealing with and it just made it so much more obvious why Ra-on bucks. Lol

What is the MC of WHB like?

Short answer: I don't like them. At all. They are incompetent and useless. A protagonist because the plot needs they to be, not because they live up to the title. The plot happens around them and they change themselves according to what they plot needs them to be rather than figuring out how their actual character could act and resolve the plot and stay, you know, in character. Whenever they speak, I want to scream because I hate everything about them.

Long answer: Completely biased opinion of Ra-on (the MC's official name) incoming. This will contain spoilers for the game, obviously. It will also be my interpretation of Ra-on as a character. Yes, a character. Ra-on is treated like a player insert, but they are not. They have too many defining traits and actions to be a proper player insert. Please note that I may not have evidence for some of my claims because I either: A) Do not have a screenshot for something (past events, certain cards I don't have, etc), B) the fact is so widely known in the fandom that it would be like citing that the sky is blue, C) I am lazy (in this case, I will say where I get the claim from, but not have a screenshot), or D) I literally do not recall where the moment I am speaking about it from and may be misremembering something (please correct me if this is the case).

They are insufferable. I know there are people out there who have issues with passive protagonists because they feel like pushovers, but I am not one of them. I prefer active protagonists, but passive ones do not bother me. As long as a character is consistent, I can go with just about anything (especially if it is explained in narrative why a character acts the way they do). In Ra-on's case, they are not exactly passive... they are incompetent and frustrating. Nothing about them feels justified. They also have fucked up priorities.

The game starts with Minhyeok (their childhood friend) protecting them from Gabriel, which sees him dead. Satan saves them and they make a deal with him to bring Minhyeok back to life. That initial setup is very simple but has a lot of potential. They and Minhyeok are willing to give up everything for the other. It makes sense considering that his family basically took care of them after the death of their parents.

Trait established: Ra-on is an orphan

Trait established: Ra-on is being hunted by the angels because they are a descendant of Solomon

Trait established: Ra-on cares deeply for Minhyeok/their friends

It is also stated (before Minhyeok is killed) that Ra-on often uses his computer to watch porn (they are literally watching porn when Gabriel attacks) and that they... don't clean up after themselves.

Trait established: Ra-on is horny

Trait established: Ra-on uses other people's belongings and does not clean up after themselves

The facts Ra-on is an orphan and that they are being hunted by angels are outside of their control, so all we can say at this point is that Ra-on cares for their friends, is very horny, uses other people's belongings (likely with his permission?), and doesn't pay attention enough to ensure they don't mess up other people stuff. Not terrible, but so far it seems Ra-on may lean a bit in a caring but self-absorbed kind of dynamic.

Once Ra-on gets to Hell, they very quickly learn that they have to have sex with devils in order to maintain their presence in Hell. Ra-on is okay with this. In fact, they often find it exciting to sleep with these different devils and indulge in the act. However! The projected space where they tend to have sex with these devils is Minhyeok's room. Supposedly, this is because it is the space they feel most attached to and safest in.

Trait established: Minhyeok is a comforting force in their life

Trait established: Ra-on is horny (x2) and into casual sex

We also learn not long after that Ra-on has to drink human essence (semen) to stay in Hell. This ends up being the revived Minhyeok, who gives his semen willingly knowing Ra-on needs it. Ra-on is both embarrassed and excited by this prospect because... they like Minhyeok as more than as a friend!

Trait established: Ra-on has a crush on Minhyeok

That's sweet. That's cute. Childhood friend + unrequited (but actually is requited) love trope. That seems like a nice premise... except, I don't like it.

This is completely my bias, but... this whole set up is mess as fuck both narratively and for Ra-on's character. It makes all sexual encounters dubiously consensual since Ra-on literally cannot survive in Hell without sex (something they are eager to have mind you, but I am stating that they can't exactly reject sex if they wanted to). These moments where they have to have sex also strike randomly, so it can occur in moment that Ra-on may not want it (but they seem to always want it so... idk).

Trait established: Ra-on continues to be horny and is always down to bone (I will stop repeating this trait now, but I hope I established that it is Ra-on most defining trait because it will explain a few other actions later down the line)

Trait established: Fuck or Die trope is a GO!

This also kind of gets... weird because they are constantly thinking of Minhyeok during sex with other people and I just find that nasty. Focus on your partner! I think the only instance I give a pass is when they had sex with Juno because he actively invited them to think of Minhyeok. But even then, he says that he wishes they would think of him too.

Trait established: Maybe MC is a little too into Minhyeok for this situation to be healthy or okay?

Expect, having said that, we get into the contradiction of Ra-on's feelings about Minhyeok. Specifically, that Ra-on actually doesn't think of Minhyeok that often once they get to Hell. Granted, they are in the middle of a war between Heaven and Hell and are actively being hunted by angels, but it feels off in a way I don't think I can quite articulate. They seems to put Mihyeok -- their childhood friend who has constantly been in their life, by their side, raised togeter -- out of their mind until it is the designated "time to think about Minhyeok to remind the audience that Ra-on cares about him and/or make one of the devils jealous" moment. Thinking about Minhyeok is never casual, like wondering how a friend is doing. It is either always prompted (ppyong passes along a message from Minhyeok, or someone is jealous) or it is, again, during the sex.

I mean... that would be fine if the game wasn't so set on trying to convince me that Ra-on cares deeply about Minhyeok and if we didn't already establish that these two are willing to literally give up everything for one another. It feels like that trait is completely tossed away. Meanwhile, Minhyeok is always thinking of Ra-on. But this isn't about him, so... moving on.

Trait established: Ra-on only thinks of Minhyeok when prompted and rarely of their own happenstance

Leamas... Sweet, sweet Leamas. He was an angel in disguise who fell head over heels for a devil named Nina. She was his weakness and he would do anything to save her, including kidnapping/using Ra-on. This story has a tragic ending, but I bring it up because of how Ra-on reacts to Nina and Leamas' sad ending.

They blame themselves. They lament that they couldn't change the fate of these two, even though it isn't their fault. They have to be comforted by Satan.

Trait established: Ra-on is empathetic

However.... Ra-on also created a bunch of dildos only minutes earlier while trying to establish a barrier to shield themselves and others, so... Again, Ra-on's horniness ruins the moment and is their defining trait.

Skipping way ahead (because I am actually getting tired of typing all of this) to the point that officially made me just not like Ra-on at all... Leviathan (School Uniform). We learn a few things in this card, including that Ra-on was bullied and that Minhyeok essentially babied them into uselessness. They forget their money for lunch, so Leviathan (acting in the place or Minhyeok in Ra-on's memories) fights the herd of students to get some bread. He also ties their shoe for them. I'm sure this was supposed to be an act of service, but all it made me do was bang my head thinking that Ra-on is so incompetent that they cannot even tie their own shoes. It was an entire day of Ra-on failing to be a functional person and relying on Minhyeok to do basic things for them. Please note, Ra-on is never hinted to be disabled in any way that would mean they need assistance. They are just like that.

Trait established: Ra-on is not a functional person

I haven't even gotten into the how they can't seem to counter the rude things some of the devils say or how they are constantly played as a fool... until the plot says otherwise. They are just constantly jerked around by the plot, barely having a consistent character aside from being constantly horny.

Tired now. I don't like Ra-on.
