Do you like Hellboy? I feel like you'd love his design.

Guillermo Del Toro's Hellboy is one of my mother's favorite movies and Guillermo is also a huge inspiration for me stylistically speaking. High contrast with bold, jewel toned coloring has become a staple of illustration work and my writings heavily feature non-human characters that desire to have a sort of humanity to them. BIG inspiration for me character design wise too. I have a devil character in the works that I'm sure people are going to notice some Guillermo Del Toro influence in once I finish his concepts. I have been wanting to get into the Hellboy comics for quite some time now, though I don't consume much media in general as I mainly spend my time working or researching. That being said - I have had MANY heated debates about my distaste for the sequel to Hellboy (2004). The characters feel like one note caricatures of themselves, the writing feels more like a marvel movie rather than a Guillermo Del Toro film, I don't think Danny Elfman was a good choice for the composer of the film (had this opinion even back when I was a big Oingo Boingo fan), and it delves away from what I believed was the strongest aspect of the first film which was the theme of nature vs nurture with Hellboy's personal struggle of being a literal demon that was raised catholic.
