Inhabiting Space: “Giant in Flower Garden”

In this picture I masked myself in a colorful flower garden. I used my exterior space for this picture. Using CapCut, I’m depicted twice in this image. One of my bodies is seen larger than human size while walking towards the garden shed. The other body is seen miniature admiring the flowers. I chose this picture of a flower garden because of the colors and layers. Being in a flower garden to me feels like a breath of fresh air. A flower garden has a certain feeling of freedom as you look and smell a nice scent in the air

Chosen Space: Interior project- The Song Inside my Head

In this piece, I set out to translate the emotional journey I experience when listening to one of my favorite songs, “Light My Love” by Greta Van Fleet. The work features flashing multicolor LED lights hanging from the ceiling, evoking the way the song transports me to a vivid, surreal, and liberating place in my mind. As the lights pulse and shift, they echo the rhythm and intensity of both the music and my emotions, visually expressing the sensation of being surrounded and uplifted by the sound.

A line from the song that influenced this work deeply is, “Your love is a stream of colors, extending beyond our sky. A land of infinite wonders.” That image of boundless, vibrant energy echoes how the song resonates with me on such a raw level. During my performance, I play the song on repeat, letting the music guide my movements and choices in real time. It becomes an immersive experience—a space where sound and light blend together to evoke release, connection, and transcendence. Adding to this sense of freedom, the piece sits beneath a vent that blows air onto it, creating a “wind in my hair” effect that mirrors the exhilarating feeling I get from the song—like being the protagonist in a bittersweet yet thrilling coming-of-age movie. In this space, it feels as if I am all that matters in the universe, suspended in the beauty of the moment and the music.
