DuckDuckGo is one of the browsers that I use on my phone. DuckDuckGo is specifically privacy-focused search engine that prioritizes anonymity and data protection. Unlike other search engines, DuckDuckGo doesn't track user data and sell their information, making it a popular choice for those concerned about online privacy. Its commitment to privacy resonates with individuals seeking to minimize their digital footprint and avoid targeted advertisements. DuckDuckGo's interface is easy to use and is reminiscent of other browsers and efficiently provides search results without compromising user privacy. Other competitors such as Google, tracks users' online activities heavily to “personalize” advertisements and services. This data collection allows Google to offer specific search results and recommendations but raises concerns about privacy and data security. Unlike DuckDuckGo's privacy-focused approach, Google's business model relies heavily on selling data for targeted advertising, leading to debates over user consent and the ethical implications of data usage. With DuckDuckGo users don’t need to worry about user data being given out to advertisers because they aren’t tracking and cataloging their users. I feel that it’s a safe browser to use if you feel insecure about your data, or want a less biased search engine that doesn’t cherrypick results for you. #Michael Galvez

this is a screenshot of the watch page on my ESPN app. I have this app to watch different sports when games come on and to get notifications about games, scores, or any sports related news. this images shows a hockey game that is live and other sports center media as well. I recently became subscribed to ESPN+ because it allows you access to new features and more content such as college soccer. I subscribed because my twin brother plays college soccer for the University of Rhode Island and there games were always available to be streamed live with an ESPN+ subscription. this media streaming service became very useful to me during the world cup so that I could get notifications on what games are happening on what days. Another feature about the ESPN app is that if you follow your favorite teams or players from any sport, you will get specific notifications based on what teams and players you follow which I think is really smart.

this image is from my Netflix account when I was scrolling through the home page. most of the shows in this image are shows that I have not watched yet except for squid game. Netflix is the most popular streaming service and creates original content such as stranger things. I like how Netflix shows what is the most popular at the time because it allows you quick access to popular shows and movies. there are no adds with my Netflix subscription which is nice when i am watching something new. when I am bored and I have looked for something to watch on other platforms, I often find myself back at Netflix scrolling through the home page to find something new which I usually do because of their wide variety of content. stranger things is one of the most popular shows on Netflix of all time and I go back and watch old seasons of it often since i know that they are coming out with a fourth season sometime.

I was listening to music while I was also doing homework and I saw that they were allowing you to replay the halftime show from the super bowl on Sunday. this shows how innovative apps such as apple music and Spotify have gotten with staying up to date with trends and current events that users can enjoy while also being able to bring in new users that are attracted to features like this. they also added some of ushers songs to the recommended list because of the super bowl half time show, I think that they did this for people that do not really know his music so that they can listen to it before or after the halftime show to give him and the super bowl more publicity. the song I was listening to was by Travis Scott who was a Grammy nominee for best album which was utopia but he did not win.

this is an image of the tv in the Endicott post center gym that I took while I was working out. there are a few tv's in the Endicott gym that are placed in front of treadmills and benches throughout the gym. there is usually some sort of sports or exercise content on the tv's when they are on in the gym. In this photo, they were playing re runs of a game that had already happened. sometimes in between exercises, instead of going on my phone and getting more distracted by other social media and content of my phone, i will just watch whatever is on the tv before I go and start my next exercise. whenever i decide to go on a run on the treadmills in the gym, while i listen to music, watching whatever random content is on the tv helps me to zone out and get my workout done faster.

this is an picture I took of my computer while i was doing homework in the library. the homework was for a graphic illustration class that I am taking and the library was a nice quite place to go to do it. being more specific, the homework was to add motion to a fashion image using lines and texture. I chose a sports fashion image of a soccer player kicking a soccer ball because I knew I would be able to come up with an idea for elements that I wanted to add to the image. the project was design fully in Adobe Illustrator which is my favorite Adobe program to use for school and any other projects. this image shows how technology and art have come so far in the world because of programs such as Adobe Illustrator that are so complex and have so many different aspects of them that they are actually used professionally by real artists and graphic designers.

As someone who loves having nice clothes, I always enjoy going out thrifting for new things. But without a car, it can be really hard to find good places to find new clothes. Luckily, thanks to social e-commerce apps, finding new wardrobes is easier than ever before. With an app like Depop, I can search for any type of clothes I want, no matter the color, fabrics, or type of clothing, all in the search bar provided. From here, the app shows you a plethora of options to choose from based on your search to try to show you to what you are looking for. This helps connect you with different sellers from all across the United States and even other countries in the world, and allows you to direct message them with any questions or concerns you have regarding the product. Along with this, any customer can also sell their own clothes on the app, and connect with people that are interested. You can also negotiate prices with other people and settle on a price that works for both parties. Once a purchase is completed, the seller will remark the product on the website as sold, and mail the product to the chosen address of the customer. This app has never failed me, and I can always rely on Depop to find nice clothes.

I've played hockey for most of my life, so I'm naturally a fan of the Penguins. I've been following their instagram account for around 6 years now.

This is my friend Jules playing homes capes on her phone. Homescapes is a match 3 game similar to Candy Crush Saga, with a slight twist. The levels of match 3 allow the player to customize a home for their character. She has been playing it for a few years now, and it's become very comforting for her.

This is my roommate, who is currently playing video games on his Play Station 5. As the newest Play Station, this gaming console is commonly thought of as one of the most tech savvy and well equipped consoles in the world. Starting out at 500 dollars, the console is certainly expensive, but the quality of it is what really makes the price worth it. With quick loading times, spectacular 4K performance, and wide variety of offered games to rent or buy, the Play Station 5 has everything a gamer wants and more. Here, my roommate is seen playing Rainbow Six Siege, which is of the most commonly played first-person shooter mode games. He also has the ability to plug in a microphone into his game controller. This way, he can play the game with other people while simultaneously communicating with them. The Play Station 5 is truly one of the most impressive gaming consoles ever.

This is an image of me in the hospitality suite at the ice arena. I am doing work on my computer while viewing the TV. My computer allows me to double-task easily. The TV in the hospitality suite serves as a multi-purpose. It can be used to display images, TV, movies, and game film. Game film is an example of the use of media. Our games are filmed with a camera, then sifted through and edited by a manager for full-team viewing of specific clips. Additionally, every player has access to a Hudl account where they can view full games. Hudl allows teams to elevate their game by watching and learning from mistakes.

This is a screenshot of vmy most recent instagram post. This is a post with my friends when we took the train to TD garden to catch a Bruins game. This post showed my friends who I may not see ofen what I am up to. Instagram is a great platform for connecting with friendsand mutals. Additionally, you can regulate what people see on Instagram, which can be both a positive and a negative. It allows you to demonstrate your best self but also could show a fake self. In this case, we went and took photos before the game close to the ice, when realistically, our seats were way up in the top.

This is my roommate, who is sitting at her desk writing an essay. While writing this essay, she has her phone open to Spotify, where she is playing music for our room through her JBL speaker. The ability to write papers on our computers has revolutionized the speed at which we can write. Additionally, her use of Spotify to curate music she wants to hear has created a more enjoyable listening experience. Listening to music with other people is also a form of media intake. By listening to new music, you are hearing the most recent updates in pop culture.

This is a image of my roommate in the hallway on the phone with her parents who live in another state. She is utilizing FaceTime to have face-to-face conversations with people who live far away. Facetime was introduced by Apple in 2011, Facetime has had a significant impact on digital media intake by offering a more immersive and personal communication experience. With Facetime, users can not only hear but also see each other in real-time, adding a visual component to their conversations. This has led to increased engagement and a sense of closeness, especially for long-distance communication or when face-to-face interaction is not possible. Additionally, she is wearing AirPods Max, which were created by apple in 2020. Airpods max are Apple’s first-ever over-the-ear headphones, with spatial sound capabilities and noise canceling. These allow her to sit in the hallway and stil be able to have a private conversation with her family.

The Uber app has made traveling from place to place extremely easy. For a decent price you can get a ride within 10 minutes to your destination. Being a college student with no access to a car, this has made for seamless adventures outside of campus. The Uber app allows you to order a ride depending on your needs. This may include a smaller or larger sized car to ensure everyone is able to travel together, or even renting a car that gets dropped off near your location. Transportation has never been a worry with the use of uber. There are also reviews and a very safe system put in place to provide security during and after the ride. With an extremely busy and on the move community, this ensures that our needs are met with no limitations to our activities.
