To say my heart is broken feels like a disappointing cliché... but, before receiving the call that she’d passed, it’s fair to say I felt a huge piece of me was missing, and the call only confirmed what I knew: she was gone. It’s with complete heartbreak that I type these words, but somehow it sets things in motion and makes it real. It’s only been a little over 24 hours, but I miss you more than you’ll ever know. I’m going to miss your forever hugs. Your complete acceptance. Your loving—no matter what. Your forgiveness. Your tenderness. Your belief in me. Your smile. Your laugh. Your sense of humor. Your encouragement. Your support. Your touch. Your warmth. Your stubbornness. Your optimism. Your smell. Your love of adventure. The way you looked at me. The way made me feel good about myself. The way you drank champagne. The way you celebrated the things you cherished. The way you held my hand. The way you made me smile. The way you made everyone feel loved… I find some solace knowing your suffering has ended, despite a helluva fight—even if it was only for us. I know I’ll see a glimmer of you everywhere I look.
