just met a guy at the arcade that legit had a wholeass shonen anime training arc with DDR. last year he thought itd be funny to get into the "funny foot music game" as a bit with his friend. friend fell off after like a month. he kept going. he struggled and couldnt get past the basic levels. until he met this random 36 year old lady for a night that had been playing the game for 25 years. she taught him the fabled art of the "crossover"- a simple foot movement that drastically increases movement potential. he keeps locking in. masters 14-levels and 15-levels. starts playing all of his songs on life-4 (4 misses and you die).

and then he took a whole hour out of his day to show me how to do crossovers, adjust movement speed for notes. HUGE gamechanger as my biggest difficulty was reading the notes as they came on screen. explained every single setting and how its used in competitive. didnt condescend to me once about being bad at DDR.
