Day 1 - Introduce yourself and tell us what you study!

My name is Victor, I’m 24 and I love studyblrs, it just keeps me inspired you know? I have a System Analysis and Development degree and I’m pursuing one in IT Management

I used to think I was too dumb for IT, sounds silly now since I fell in love with it. IT gave me superpowers, the limit of what can be programmed is what you can imagine for it, it’s not easy but thankfully I’m good enough with logic to be able to play with whatever programming language I come across.

My favorite language is MySQL, oh my god how do I love to project and build a database from scratch, I can lose hours on it just for fun. PHP has my eternal love also, and I will be seeing more of it next semester.

Currently we’ve been using JS and Node.JS for class, it’s not that scary now that I think of it

My duolingo streak for Spanish/French is 80 days but I feel the need to start doing more for language learning...

My current workspace is A MESS (as pictured) and it keeps me from actually producing, well hopefully I will have enough spoons to do a major makeover around here

This challenge will begin on the 1st October 2020 and will run for the entire month

HOWEVER! My plan for this challenge is also that it can be done at any time (like the 100 days of productivity challenge for example), so although it will be officially starting then (and that is when I will be doing it) you can start it at any time

There are 31 prompts - one for each day of the month

If you do the challenge, use the tag #studyblr community challenge so i can track the posts and see what you are all posting (and so others can see as well!)

Days 1 -14 are essentially a way to introduce yourself to the community and to find out about the person behind the blog!

Days 15 -28 are what really excite me about this challenge! Essentially, my initial idea was to do an ‘appreciation challenge’ and so these days are essentially this idea within the larger challenge. It is an opportunity to tag studyblrs that you love and let them know that you appreciate them 

The final three days of the challenge are about reflection and looking at yourself positively.

Aims

As the name suggests, I want this challenge to be about community 

Studyblr has personally helped me so much and I’ve met some incredible people and I thought this challenge would be a good way to bring the community closer 

When I was creating this challenge, I tried to keep in mind new studyblrs. I think that it is a good way of introducing yourself and getting involved in the community, as well as having things to post, if you have just started! It could also be a good way for people to find your blog!

That said, if you have been in studyblr for a while (for example, like me!), this challenge is definitely still for you! I think it will be a good way for your followers to find out more about you and to discover some new blogs!

Overall, I hope that this challenge will promote positivity, appreciation and productivity

So in Brazil we were just hit by a huge cold front and in some parts of the country, people are seeing snow for the first time

Now Brazilian media is filled with American influences, so we've seen a lot of snow on TV and now that we finally get our hands on the stuff, we decide to have some fun right

The problem is that Brazilians really don't know how to build snowmen

Gosh I hate grind culture. My little sister just started medical school and all of her orientation leaders are like “you absolutely cannot have a life WHATsoever you WILL have to give up EVERYTHING besides this program say GOODBYE to your hobbies and relationships” and now she’s calling me feeling guilty for running and going to the grocery store and that’s just WRONG! And that is exactly what I was told starting law school as well, and rejecting that mentality was the best thing I ever did but it was so hard not to buy into. Anyway if any of you are in an intense academic program PLEASE take time to sleep and eat and exercise and maintain your relationships and keep up your hobbies! you are not a robot who exists solely to study and I promise that living a life and staying physically and mentally healthy is not going to make you fail

I have an associates degree in system analysis and development

I am currently pursing a second associates degree in IT Management

My mother tongue is Brazilian Portuguese, I’m fluent in english and am currently “trying“ to learn Spanish and French, also Libras (Brazilian Sign Language)

My favorite subject is Math

I’m class rep and monitor for english, algorithms and math

Goals:

Finishing college again

Finishing an undergraduate research if I ever dream of having a masters degree

Study abroad sometime

Take a TOEFL so I don’t have to write “self-taught English” in my resume anymore

47 is silver in the periodic table, and I choose it because of it’s presence in fiction

I’m making a studyblr as a way to log what I do, yanno sometimes it’s hard to recognize what we did accomplished in face of what’s still left to be done so here’s my effort

Classes are starting August 17 (online still thank fuck) and I always feel the need to share study things so yeah, also it can be expected cooking recipes, crafts repurposed and up-cycling, ugly handwriting, me trying to garden, Portuguese words at random, puzzle/logical games, me trash-talking college, song recommendations and politics

Talking to minors makes me anxious because I’m scared I will say something wrong and ruin their future, they are the hope of this world and I don't want to be a bad influence
