Silco has PTSD. This isn’t an excuse for his actions, it’s just a fact. He acts irrationally as a result of fear and paranoia stemming from what happened to him, which informs what he says to Jinx. It drives me crazy when people claim that he had this master plan to groom Jinx into the perfect weapon for Zaun, as if he was the most manipulative mastermind in the show when we’re repeatedly shown that he’s disorganized and unfocused and unstable and uncertain of what he actually wants.
Villains are allowed to be complex people. Yes, he has power and a semblance of control over The Undercity. However, he is also deeply unwell and attempting to raise a “daughter” who is also deeply unwell. He believed that Vi was just like Vander, and whatever he told Jinx about her he believed to be true. Obviously in the main universe he was not “good” for Jinx and obviously he does terrible things, but the reasoning some people (especially self-proclaimed “antis”) give are just wildly incorrect and demonstrate a lack of understanding.

You cannot claim that two characters have a strictly brotherly bond and then sprinkle a callback to one of the most well known queer movies ever into their story

Silco being an artist would also strengthen the comparisons between Silco and Jinx. If he has blank canvases hanging around everywhere, too, that would also symbolize the loss of his "vision" for Zaun.

I don't think I've actually seen anyone talk about this before but a really interesting detail from the Jinx Fixes Everything game is that Silco's office has canvases and paintings all over the floor:
And if you comb back through the show, you can see them in a few of his office scenes as well:
Also among his office props is a book with the Vitruvian Man on the cover, so it could be some sort of anatomy guide??? Which also implies the existence of Leonardo Da Vinci in this universe, but Imagine Dragons are canon too so I guess it's not that insane lmao.
He also has a painting on the wall behind his couch, although there's no evidence to determine whether he painted that himself or purchased it from someone (or stole it). The canvases on the floor definitely look like they're his though. The only people who actually spend long periods in his office are Silco and Jinx, and we know that when Jinx draws, she does it completely out in the open - all over the floor and walls and many of the belongings on Silco's desk. Meanwhile, Silco's canvases are mostly turned around, facing towards the wall. It makes it seem like there's some kind of shame attached to them; like whatever is on them, he doesn't want anyone else to see.
#i personally think he's an artist type#if he had commissioned them or stolen them#they'd be on display everywhere#as a sign of his wealth and power#but he doesn't do that#pretty sure he designed the zaun emblem#he was always writing and drawing in his youth#silco

Another funny thing about Silco’s parenting: people have pointed out that Jinx uses a lot of old-timey phrases, like 'I am in no mood' or 'Sevika’s a regular Johnny on the spot,' and to me, that just shows that Silco really doesn't even know how to talk to kids lmao
