why is it every time my art gets notes im like; ough nooo dont get attention nobody look, this fucking sucks ass. how do i get over hating my own art. will it stop when i reach a certain level of skill or is it a different issue where i just hate it because its mine

making art is not fun right now

Every time i draw ,it feels like a constant battle between wanting to improve, wanting to be good at art. And wanting to give up n feeling like all of this is for nothing. I wish liking what i create was easier. I have to create i cant not, so why do i hate everything i produce. It feels so bad to not have the skill level to create the things i want even tho ive been practising for years&years

I wanted to draw my black oc Rosalynn to convey positivity and joy to my black viewers through my art! She uses magic to light up the world around her; I want it to say, You're beautiful, you're bright, you light up the world :D

I looked into black hairstyles for her; the two braids at the front are Twists, and I found a ref for the texture of her ponytail, i hope I have portrayed these well It was very fun to draw!!!

I wanted to draw something sweet + joyful for the challenge, and since Valentine's day also just happened, I've picked my main OC couple as the subjects : -]. Someone trusting their partner well enough to let them do their hair is such a sweet scenario, it's been stuck in my mind ever since I read it in this lesson.

To my Black audience, thank you so much for being here!! The amount of time and care given to learn how to properly draw Black characters will always be worth it if it means I can draw and write characters you like and can relate to; you deserve faithful and loving depictions of Blackness in any media you like 💜
