Can you tell that I'm sick?

Your head is pounding by lunch, but you still have four more hours in your shift.

"You okay?" One of your coworkers asks as she finds you in the breakroom, your head buried in your hands.

"I've got a headache," you complain. "I think it's the air conditioning. It blew straight at my head the whole time."

"Ugh, that's the worst. Here, wear this. Maybe that helps." She hands you a purple beanie and leaves with one last encouraging smile.

The material is soft between your fingertips, and you take a moment to appreciate the gesture before putting it on and snapping a picture.

Big Baby: What's that?

You: My Coworker lent me her beanie. I got a headache.

Big Baby: Which one?

You roll your eyes.

You: Emi. You've met her.

Big Baby: Purple is good. Do you want me to pick you up?

You consider it for a second. There's nothing you'd want more than to go home and curl up under the blankets, but you know you need the time off later that month. You're pretty sure you can manage four more hours.

You: I'll survive. Cuddles later?

You stare at your screen in confusion but the next message pops in right afterwards.

A shadow falls over you as you step out onto the street.

"Here," you've barely got time to spot Atsushi standing there before he pulls a thick purple something over your head, missjudging his strength a little bit and blindfolding you.

"Sorry." He pulls at the fabric a little more gently now, sending you an apologetic smile when you can see again. "I got you a purple beanie all for yourself."

"I have at least five at home."

"And none at work," he chides you. "That's not good."

You snicker and take his hand. "You're right. Whatever will we do?" You sniffle.

"Are you sick?" He asks next, squinting. "I should have picked you up."

"No, I'm fine," you insist. "My nose is just a little blocked. I'll drink some tea at home and I'll be right as rain in the morning."

"Hmm," Atsushi doesn't seem convinced, pulling you in and holding you close. "You sure?"

You wake with a start, your mouth dry, your throat tight.

Atsushi is spread out on the bed as usual, starfish-style, one massive leg draped over yours, one hand curled around your head.

You wiggle free and slip out of bed, try to be as quiet as possible while you pull stuff out of your medicine cabine.

There's some syrup for your throat and some nasal spray, though you're not sure if either of these things are still good. You can't remember the last time you've been sick, and Atsushi, well, he usually claims these things are yucky, demanding to be treated with homemade soup and love.

It's cold in the kitchen, the tiles cool under your feet.

You feel miserable. You hate being sick.

Logically, it would be best to slip into bed in the guest room now, make sure Atsushi doesn't catch what you're having. He's got a few big games at the end of the month and while Coach probably wouldn't kill you for pulling him out of the game, you don't want him to lose out of it either.

But you don't want to sleep in the guest room all alone.

Not when the love of your life is just another room away, all cozy and cuddly, warm and squishy, snoring away.

You hesitate a little longer before dragging your feet down the hallway. Sometimes sacrifices need to be made. Guest room it is.

You wake with a start. Your nose is blocked, your chest heavy.

It takes a second to realize that at least the latter isn't caused by your cold.

Atsushi has spread out on the smaller guest bed, his head heavy on your chest.

It's not the first time this has happened, and you guess it won't be the last.

Gently, you card your fingertips through his hair.

He'll be pouty when he wakes, you know from experience, grumbling about you leaving him behind.

But it's nice to know he'll always find you, conscious or unconscious, like a magnet finding its true north.

Although you could do with a little less blocked nose.

after walking around the mall with akaashi keiji you find a small photobooth. you figured it’d be a perfect thing to do on your first date as a couple. so, giggling and shuffling in, you two sit together, shoulder to shoulder.

“3… 2… 1!”

you both give your signature smiles, though, they’re a bit bigger than usual. you look at keiji’s dimples and the way his cheeks puff when he smiles like that.

“3… 2… 1!”

you both do a little pose this time! showing off your “claws” and scrunching up your nose. your mouth is wide open, imitating a roar, while keiji’s is more timid — hoshi would be so proud of you guys.

“i look a little weird,” he laughs, covering his mouth a bit.

you both look at each other, not knowing what to do for a third pose. keiji sneaks his hand, warm and soft, to your other cheek, cupping it softly.

“2…”

he pulls you closer to him, closes his eyes, and presses his lips to your cheek. with no time to react, you close your eyes and smile, heart doing jumping jacks inside your chest.

“1!”

keiji pulls away, covering his flushed face. you share a little giggle, resting your head just under his chin.

you do the same to him! clammy hands, trembling lips, warm cheeks. with his cheeks squished, he tries his best to give a wide smile, eyes forming into little crescents.

shuffling back outside, you huddle close to look at the pictures. you giggle together, shy and stupidly smitten for each other. looking up at him, you gently rub away the lipstick stain on his cheek.

you end up putting your copy into your phone case, keeping a cherished memory with you wherever you go.

needless to say, photobooths are your favorite with him!

Even when they do wanna squeeze you because you're being cute, they hold themself back. Got to keep cool and not let you know.

A pouty expression when trying to conceal it… perhaps biting their bottom lip. But once they feel comfortable Mhin will smile ! Sometimes it's a small soft one, sometimes it leans toward an amused smirk.

They huff when you try Puppy Eyes etc on them, but they're blushing despite how hard they try not to. ~70% success rate. Despite how "hard" they "try" to lower this. <- they don't really want to lower this percentage, they just get a little embarrassed. In general Mhin gets quite soft when it comes to you and things they care about e.g. cats

Mhin gets cuteness aggression with cats because I say so. They don't realize they've started smiling while petting the cat in front of them. Kinda shake the cat's head and squish its cheeks in a way that won't hurt it but still uses more pressure than their usual petting. Yeah

Depending on Ais's to be posted schedule and your own, sometimes all three of you get home late at night. If you're home, Ais and Vere move basically silently while they get ready for bed if you're already asleep. If you're awake, you get to jokingly chastise them, same with if there's two of you home! Bad parent good parent dynamic if you will, even while you help them wind down and maybe eat a late dinner together

Still kind of understanding, and in a way... guesses he can be flattered? But next time, "you should accept people's generosity. It's hard to come by genuinely in this place."

He's also pretty surprised you managed to sneak the money somewhere. He might offer to pay for small things just to see where else you might hide it

If you do it while in an established relationship, Vere sort of affectionately rolls his eyes once he finds the money. And while I would like to say he keeps it, I really think if he's done this for you, he will out-stubborn you on it. Find some other way to pay him back or spoil him!!

Mhin

Confused? But also stubborn. The next time Mhin sees you, they have your money ready to give back. It's that sort of Slightly lecturing tone and sigh and furrowed brows vibe. How do you even have the money to pay them back? You need to look out for yourself more if you're going to survive

Despite thinking you're... silly... or making a logically poor decision, it gets some affection points since Mhin appreciates the sentiment. Besides the stubbornness and confusion, they're a little flustered

If they don't confront you, you might come back to your room and find your money and a super short note that basically says "take it" or "stop it" with your belongings

I think it's more common that you both pay for yourselves, but Mhin might be inclined to at least just splitting the bill or taking turns paying if you really don't like it ^^ Or you can do the fishing for a few evenings to pay them back :3c (They end up helping a little anyway)

Kuras

Kuras isn't even looking at you when he brings it up. "Oddly enough, I found the money I spent yesterday evening back in my wallet. Would you happen to know anything about that?"

It's almost chastising the way he responds, but he's really nice about it so you end up feeling kind of bad for trying to put the money back. Like, it upsets him when you decline his payment because he's showing his affection for you, and he'd like if you could both find a way to work it out, so on so forth

Kuras smiles and says if you'd like to pay him back, he doesn't need dinner or the money, but he'd enjoy some company while he checks and restocks inventory. (He still keeps an eye out during any possible attempts and catches you in the act most times)

For future reference, he figures if he says it's his thank you for the help you've offered as of late, he can subtly make you feel less inclined to deny it since his gift is the... equaling feat... yeah.

Ais

Silently raises an eyebrow if he catches you. Jokes about you trying to steal from him just to fluster you. "Looking for something?" "If you were low on cash, you could have said so, Sparrow."

Generally more relaxed and lighthearted about it than the other LIs, but he still doesn't want to take the money. LOL. He might accept the money, but if you find it back in your bag, well who knows how it got there. What a fun surprise for you ^__^

Might make you do things. As in like, "Do x and I'll accept the money" or "Come with me and I'll consider taking it back" etc etc. And you might say that doesn't make sense, but if you really want Ais to take it, that's what you have to do!

Modern AU where he does those "look over there" tricks so he can tap his card before you LOL. I think he's more likely to just straight-up play fight with you too if you know he's trying to trick you

Leander

Pouty Leander if it's light-hearted. Like What? You Won't Let Him Spoil You? :( But if you seriously put your foot down, so does he.

His tone gets serious while he gauges why you're declining, and whether he should just accept the money because he does like paying for and taking care of you, so he doesn't really want you to refuse that all the time.

Tries to find "drinks on me for everyone" or equivalent loopholes where you don't feel as much pressure or guilt about it, but he doesn't do it too often because wow... if he did that every time he tried to spoil you... Wow. Otherwise says "this is for x the other day" etc

Same thing as Ais with the modern AU but he's less inclined to do any wrestling. He might pick a game of rock paper scissors or something instead. Like everyone else, he's inclined to letting you "pay him back" through other means! You pay him back and spend time together—a win-win!!

"I don't think the regular person can figure out a ring size through that," you try to comfort him. "Besides, we can probably get it resized somewhere."

Unmoved, your boyfriend pulls out his phone, frown still etched onto his face while he starts to type.
