We've apparently invented an artificial stone that, when cut, functions as a kind of Super Asbestos.
So, you know, watch out for that.

The article spends more time complaining about the UN using potentially unreliable statistics to report civilian deaths than it does decrying Israel for killing, in the author's words, "a lot" of Palestinian children. There's a line implying that Israeli statistics should be believed, but the world is too willing to believe Hamas-sourced statistics so maybe the IDF should let some third-parties clear up this little misunderstanding. The whole thing is disgusting.

"Harrow listens to My Chemi--" BZZT WRONG that girl doesn't want to hear noises louder than bone rattling. "Gideon Nav listens to --" BZZZT NO she is not listening to any music that deliberately processes an emotion more complex than "women hot." That girl is ten layers of trauma surviving solely on titty mags & "your mom" jokes. Modern Gideon would listen to a) horrible cock rock, b) horrible bro country or c) old school gangsta rap, depending on cultural context, and revels in the fact that everyone else hates her music. Neither of them are listening to your indie faves playlists, I am sorry

I didn't enjoy Dune Part 2. I didn't *not* enjoy it either. It was happening on a screen in front of me. Watching it felt like putting my finger in front of the blade of a soft handheld fan. I wanted to do it, even though I gained nothing from the act. It was almost entirely devoid of pathos. I may as well have been watching the news in a language I can't speak. No other movie has, after the credits rolled, ever made my wife and I look at each other and shrug.

I love you all, you’ve done nothing wrong. But I’m begging you. The “kiri” in Kiriona is not pronounced like Siri on your phone. Kiriona is legit just how someone speaking te reo Māori would pronounce “Gideon”. You roll the R a little bit and it should sound a lot more like “Kee-dee-oh-nah” sorry idk how to properly write out phonetics but you get it

Fallout New Vegas has an impressively cohesive thesis considering how big of a game it is. The theme of “if society cannot move on from the past, it will repeat the sins of the past” is present in all of the main factions and most of the minor factions. The DLCs extrapolate that to a personal scale.
I just can’t think of a theme that is THAT integral to every part of the game in any other fallout game I’ve played

Bloodborne, you guys. It’s a beautiful game. I beat up every werewolf with a cane that turns into a whip. I wanted to capture what I liked most about the game’s atmosphere: lots of looming and pointy gothic architecture, the feeling of knowing some kinda gross monster could lurk around any given corner - and, well, a lot of stuff is on fire all the time.

I like to think there's a bunch of cool non-Dark Side powers out there, but the Republic Jedi and subsequent splinter factions were all hyper-fundamentalist weirdos who had argued each other into a deadlock over whether any particular Force trick was ~dangerously emotional~ or whatever. In another universe, where Palpatine doesn't fold the galaxy over his knee for a few decades, maybe that righteous religious coil gets wound so tight it snaps and there's a faction war. I could see a conflict between reformists who like to experiment and purists who think a good old Force Push was good enough for their master, so anyone trying to unravel the Force Twist or the Force Sleep Dart is a heathen proto-Sith.
Something I never really got is why the Jedi don't have their own version of Force Lightning.
Like. The party line is that Jedi can't do Force Lightning because it's a strictly Dark Side power; It's calling on the Dark Side to inflict pain and torture upon an opponent, rather than simply killing them immediately the way Jedi prefer to do.
But. Like.
Sending a bunch of electricity through a person's body to incapacitate them is way less lethal than cutting them in half with a lightsaber.
The Jedi are supposed to be peaceful diplomats who occasionally engage in peacekeeping and stuff on the Republic's behalf, but they have two options for conflict resolution: Mind-control everyone or cut them in half with a lightsaber. Meanwhile the Sith are over there with Force Tasers and that's evil apparently.
Star Wars is weird.
