Crestfallen - Part 6
Author’s Note: I've had a fever all day long so if there's any misspelled words, I'm blaming that! Also, I rewrote this part three different times because I felt like I couldn't get it right so thank you for your patience!
Overall Summary: Although you were born in the Day Court, you've been living in the Night Court for a century. You're close with the inner circle but what will happen when a new healer is brought into the picture?
Part 6 Summary: Helion has come to save the day...but he's not so sure he'll be able to.
Pairing: Azriel x Reader
Warnings: Mentions of death
"Helion?? What are you doing here?" Rhys asked the male in front of him.
"I think we should talk in private." Helion responded, looking around at the others standing there.
Rhys and Feyre gave each other a look and everyone could tell they were talking to each other through their minds.
"Ok, let's go to my office." Rhys spoke, winnowing away with Helion and Feyre.
The house was still standing, no major damage done due to the wards but most of the glass was shattered. They entered his office and Rhys snapped his fingers, clearing glass out of their way.
"So, you think you can help Y/N?" Feyre asked.
"Well, I might be able to. You see I knew her mother and father, before they died." Helion elaborated.
"I didn't know they passed away." Feyre said sadly.
"How did they die?" Rhys prompted the Day Court male.
When you had shown up at the Night Court, you told Rhys that you had no family. Nothing keeping you tied to the Day Court. He didn't necessarily know they had passed but he didn't want to pry.
"He father passed before her mother even knew she was pregnant. Y/N never knew him." Helion answered.
"That's awful... She never told us." Rhys added.
"I'm sure there's a lot she didn't tell you." He told his friend, "It's probably best I start from the beginning."
Helion had known your parents for as long as he could remember. Your father, Calalas, your mother, Gwin, and Helion were good friends and he couldn't have been any happier when they told him the mating bond had snapped between the two.
Calalas had basic powers such as advanced healing and enhanced senses but he never had any special power and that always upset him. That is...until one day when he woke up in severe pain and a new power within him. Your father had shown up at Helion's door begging him for help.
Helion couldn't figure out why your dad needed help. Finally Calalas explained to his High Lord and friend that he had atmokinesis. He could manipulate the weather. Helion had never heard of anyone with this power but still, he couldn't understand what was bad about this.
Your dad explained that when he used his power, it was almost as if it backfired and hurt him. After some research, he determined that this power was rare and the reason it hurt him was because weather manipulation belonged to one being only, the Mother.
No fae were allowed to do that, so he would be punished every time he used it.
Helion told him to never use it and maybe they could figure out a way to get rid of it but Calalas was offended at the thought of anyone taking his powers. He agreed he would only use it for small things until one day when a large storm was about to hit the Day Court.
The storm was projected to be the worst their Court had ever seen, killing thousands at least. Helion begged your father to not use his powers but he knew it was useless. Calalas used all of his strength and power to make the storm disappear, which led to his death.
"A week later, Gwin found out she was pregnant with Y/N.." Helion added once he finished telling them everything.
"Does she know about any of that?" Feyre questioned.
Helion shook his head, looking down in guilt.
"She knows her mother died giving birth to her but she doesn't know anything of her father's death or powers. Gwin asked me not to, to only speak of the positives." He told them.
Rhys felt awful hearing all of this but realizing what it meant for you felt even worse. If you had the same power as your dad, would that mean you'd be punished if you used that power too? A million thoughts were running through his head when Helion spoke up again.
"I do believe her powers are slightly different. It seems Y/N has empathic weather manipulation...it's tied to her emotions, she can't control it. If I'm right, we might need to keep her subdued longer than we planned." He told them regretfully.
Rhys closed his eyes, fearing the fate of his friend. Feyre allowed only one tear to fall before she spoke up.
"There has to be a way we can help her. We can't just let her die...she is our family at this point." She cried.
"Well, there might be something we can do. Something I was working on for her father before he died." Helion told her.
------
Once Rhys, Feyre, and Helion had winnowed away, the rest of them started deciding what would be the best thing to do in the meantime. They decided on taking you to the House of Wind because the small cottage you owned had been completely destroyed by the tornado.
Az flew with you and Mor made her way to the house with Madja. He laid you down in one of the unused rooms and pulled up a chair next to the bed.
Madja added a few salves to your wounds, hoping they could at least heal while you were unconscious. She told them goodbye and left to continue figuring out a treatment for you. To help ease the pain you felt in your soul.
Mor gave Az a questioning look once he was settled next to you in the chair.
"I'll take first shift. I figure we shouldn't leave her alone." He muttered, looking over at you.
Mor huffed out a laugh, "Okay, loverboy."
He could feel his cheeks heat up and shook his head at her antics. She left to go help the others and Az was left alone with you.
For the first couple hours, he just watched you. Watched the rise and fall of your chest, made sure you were alive. It calmed his nerves slightly. He couldn't get over everything you went through, everything he put you through.
"I'm so so sorry." He whispered to you even though he knew you couldn't hear him.
"I was upset Rhys sent you on the mission alone. Well, I did clear you and knew you were ready but I begged him not to send you. It would have killed me if anything happened to the one I love. And then my awful actions ended up hurting you the most...I'm so stupid."
He held your hand, and never left your side. He wondered if Helion was helping them at all, hoping he could give you a chance at life.
A few more hours had passed when Az heard someone walk into the room. Looking up, he saw Lucien standing there.
"I just heard about everything that happened...I came right away." Lucien spoke, his sad eyes never left your form.
Azriel's eyes narrowed slightly at the red-haired male. He knew Lucien was your friend as well and he had no reason to be upset but he couldn't help the twinge of jealousy he felt seeing him here for you.
"How long will she be out?" Lucien whispered.
"I'm not sure." Az mumbled.
After sitting in silence for a couple moments, Rhys spoke in Azriel's mind.
Come to my office. We have a lot to discuss.
"I...need to go to Rhys." Az spoke.
"Go. I can stay with her." Lucien told him.
Looking between the two of you, the shadowsinger hesitated. He couldn't stand the bitter feelings he had but he knew he needed to put you first, so he gave a nod to the male and his shadows carried him away to Rhys.

Could I make a request for Azriel where him and the reader are mates during the war with Hybern and maybe she gets kidnapped (like instead of Elaine in ACOWAR, it’s the reader) and Azriel freaks out, maybe a bit of angst but fluff after her gets her back, I literally love you so much thank you!!!
Ahhh I love this! I’ll add it to my list and tag you once it’s finished!! Thank you for the request and kind words!!!❤️❤️❤️

Crestfallen - Part 5
Author’s Note: My plans got canceled last night so I ended up finishing this part earlier than expected!! Part 6 has already been started and will hopefully be out within the next 2 days! :)
Overall Summary: Although you were born in the Day Court, you've been living in the Night Court for a century. You're close with the inner circle but what will happen when a new healer is brought into the picture?
Part 5 Summary: After waking up, your fight has only just begun.
Pairing: Azriel x Reader
Warnings: talks of injuries
"I need Rhys or Feyre." You blurted.
Azriel just stared at you, looking confused yet relieved.
"Now!" You demanded once you noticed he wasn't moving.
His shadows swallowed him up taking him to find either of the two.
Feyre winnowed in with Az within moments, Rhys showing up separately quick after.
"Look in my mind" You panted, still out of breath feeling the new power thrumming through you.
Your High Lady and High Lord both looked in your mind as you replayed for them all you had been through. They saw how you were awake and felt everything. They saw how vulnerable and weak you felt. And they saw the mystery inside of you was definitely a new power.
"What was it, what power was that? I've never seen it before." Feyre muttered, confused at everything that was going on.
She was away meeting with a few other courts, Rhys had spoken to her letting her know what was going on and she came back right away. Thinking you were still unconscious, she began helping her mate research instead of visiting you. They were both holed up in the library when Az appeared bringing them here.
"I'm not sure. I can feel it but I can't access it, can't control it." You mumbled.
Az stood behind both Rhys and Feyre, watching you as if he'd seen a ghost. You noticed his staring and gave him a questioning look. He cleared his throat before speaking.
"You're awake." He stated simply.
Feyre, Rhys and you all shared a look with each other.
"It's just...you were unconscious minutes ago and Madja said we would need to figure out a treatment. And now you just...sat up and are talking to us like normal?" He elaborated.
"I don't really understand it either but I do know I was awake the entire time. I felt your shadows in my mind, I knew you were there." You uttered, "But I am still very confused on a ton of things as well."
"It was Clara.." Az mumbled.
More memories came flooding back to you. Everything Clara did replayed in your mind. You remembered the powder she blew in your face and most of all, you remembered how Az didn't believe you.
"We learned she wasn't trying to kill you. She was trying to make you sick to impress Az by helping you and making you better again." Rhys informed you.
"Oh that makes it all better, she didn't mean to almost end my life, just harm me severely. I suppose I should forgive her and pretend everything is fine." You snarled.
"I didn't say that. Cassian and Nesta are handling it right now. She will be held in the dungeon until she has served her time." Rhys told you with an understanding voice.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to snap at you. I'm just overwhelmed right now." You apologized.
Rhys gave you a small smile and a nod, he didn't hold it against you. Feyre put her hand on your shoulder to show you she was there for you.
The pair were already thinking about this newfound power you held. They needed to make sure you were 100% alright and inform Madja about what had happened. They let you know what they were going to do and winnowed away to find the healer.
"I'm so glad you're alright. You have no idea how terrified I-" Az started to tell you.
"I have no idea how terrified you were? I was being poisoned, felt my powers draining and I told you. I told you and you didn't believe me. Do you know how scared and alone I felt?" You cut him off, "No you have no idea. I felt strands of my soul being plucked apart, venom being torn out of my very being because of her...and you...you told me my mind was playing tricks on me."
You finished your short rant with a sob, tears started to flood your face.
"I will never be able to make this up to you but I swear on my life that I will never stop trying. I am so terribly sorry for not believing you." He sobbed.
"No. I needed help, I needed you and you ignored me. Made me feel crazy. You do realize you held me down while she cut me open. I bit down on your belt while she sliced me with her blade." You cried.
Azriel was now on his knees next to the bed. His own tears matching yours, although he was not crying for himself. No, he was crying for you. Minutes past, the only sound in the room was the combination of your sobs, like a symphony of sorrows.
You sniffled, willing your tears to dry.
"You chose someone you've known for 2 weeks over someone you've known for 100 years," you croaked out, "and for that, I do not know if I can ever forgive you."
Azriel looked up into your eyes, truly realizing the extent of what he had done when the door suddenly shot open. Mor stood there looking frantic.
"There's a terrible storm outside right now. We need to take cover. The wards that are protecting this house should keep us safe but I don't want to risk anything with Y/N right now." She warned us.
"A storm?" Your confusion was evident on your face.
"Yes. Rain, thunder, lightning, tornadoes, the whole nine yards." She confirmed as she worked quickly to gather things you might need.
You tried to move from the bed but your wounds were deeper than skin level. Your soul had been wounded.
"I don't think I can move." You faltered.
"I got you." Az offered, starting to pick you up.
Quickly you flinched away from him, not wanting to be near him. There was a loud boom of thunder and you could hear the wind picking up. After hesitating a few seconds, you let him carry you out of there to a safer room with less windows.
The three of you made your way to a room downstairs and Az placed you on a couch nearby. Anxiety began to quickly consume your mind and Mor must have sensed it.
"Hey, don't worry. There's never been a storm that destroyed this house. The wards were placed by Rhys himself so we should be ok. This is just an extra safety precaution." Mor said with certainty.
You didn't think it was possible but after a couple minutes the storm seemed to pick up even more. The wind outside was so loud now you couldn't hear yourself think.
Mor sat on the floor next to you with her arm protectively over you. A loud crash could be heard and the sound of glass breaking was too close for comfort. The look on Mor's face did nothing to bring you solace.
Realization that they had never seem a storm like this hit and Az wrapped his arms around you and Mor, stretching his wings to surround the three of you.
It only lasted a couple minutes longer, then you could hear it starting to settle. Once it sounded like it was over completely, he withdrew his wings and the three of you looked around. The room you were in was untouched but you needed to check everywhere else.
"I need to go make sure everything is alright." Azriel stated.
"I'll stay here with Y/N and try to contact Rhys and Feyre." Mor told the male.
He gave her a nod and winnowed away.
"I've never seen anything like that. I can't imagine how hard the town was hit, I hope everyone is ok." Mor mumbled.
You felt what could only be described as waves going through your body. Unsure if it was anxiety or your power, you tried to calm it. Hours later, the feeling was still there and no one had shown up yet.
"I'm getting a little worried, no one is responding to me." Mor told you.
"I'll be fine, you can go find them." You reassured her.
Giving you a quick hug, she took off in search of your friends and family. She was only gone for about a half hour when she returned, her face pale.
Rhys, Feyre, and Madja were with her as well.
"Is everyone ok?" You asked hurriedly.
"Everyone is fine." Feyre whispered.
"That's a relief..." You trailed off seeing the looks on their faces.
"We need you to listen to what we say and understand that is doesn't change anything. None of us are hurt, Cass and Nesta are fine. Everything is ok." Rhys spoke calmly.
"If that's the case, why are you guys looking at me like that?" You questioned.
The four of them shared looks with each other and Feyre kneeled down next to the couch you were laying on.
"We think the storm might have been...you." She carefully informed you.
"What??" You breathed.
"We think your new power is somehow connected to the weather. Rhys noticed it first, there's no other way to explain it besides the wind felt like you. We all know you didn't do anything on purpose." Feyre continued to explain to you with a soothing voice.
"I did that?" You spoke in disbelief.
Mor tapped Rhys and looked around. They could feel the electricity in the air, another storm. This time, likely caused by the news you were recieving. They knew they needed to act fast.
"We know it's new and you can't control it. Please let me subdue your mind right now while we figure it out. If you unleash another storm, the consequences might be too severe." Rhys told you, tears forming in his eyes at seeing his friend go through this.
You agreed right away, nodding your head yes. You couldn't bare causing any more damage. Rhys gave you a small, sad smile and you could feel him at the gate in your mind, asking to be let in even though you just gave him permission.
"We will be right by your side the entire time." Feyre whispered to you.
You opened the gate for Rhys and sleep quickly took over. As soon as they were certain your mind was subdued, Mor spoke up.
"You can come out now." She announced.
Azriel walked out from his hiding place behind the door.
"I still don't agree with this." He mumbled.
"You saw what happened the last time she spoke to you. If she saw you, another storm would have been imminent." Rhys hissed at his brother.
"No I mean, I don't agree with keeping it from her. She deserved to know the truth." He retorted.
"The truth," Rhys huffed a laugh, "You think it would've been smart to tell her what actually happened? That the storm she caused destroyed many homes in town, injured over 20 civilians, and killed two of them? She's been through enough. She didn't need to hear that even if it wouldn't have caused another storm."
Azriel looked down at his shoes, guilty and crestfallen.
"We need to get to work right away. Create some kind of ward or contraption that can contain her power when we wake her up." The Night Court High Lord informed the group.
"I think I can help with that." A voice spoke suddenly from behind all of them.
They all turned to see Helion, the High Lord of the Day Court standing there.
"You know I love to make a grand entrance." He spoke with a grin.

Crestfallen - Part 4
Author’s Note: I'm hoping to make the next part longer, hoping I'll have more time tonight to write. Thank you all for taking the time to read my work! Your likes, comments, reblogs, and follows truly mean the world to me!
Overall Summary: Although you were born in the Day Court, you've been living in the Night Court for a century. You're close with the inner circle but what will happen when a new healer is brought into the picture?
Part 4 Summary: After your body and soul have gone through so much, how likely is it you'll survive?
Pairing: Azriel x Reader
Warnings: talks of injuries
"The combination of these plants can lead to some serious complications." Madja informed Rhys and Az.
All of the color drained from the spymaster's face.
"I believe the venom in the cut was from her mission. I would have found it sooner if I had done her check up." Madja muttered, ashamed.
"This is not your fault. It is mine for not seeing Clara for who she actually is sooner." Az responded.
"Now is not the time to take blame. Y/N needs us. What can we do now?" Rhys added.
Madja looked over you, taking a second to think.
"Well, the powder probably just sped up the venom which caused it to attack her powers quickly. It is like an infection, I will treat her with some medicine for that. But I believe there is a power inside of her that she is not aware of." Madja explained, "it might be the reason she is still alive right now."
Azriel walked closer to you, kneeling next to the bed. He laid his right hand over yours and used his left to push some hair off of your face.
"What about the complications you mentioned earlier?" Rhys asked.
"I have never seen the combination of Spitfire Aconite, Vamire, and Aldirin used where it didn't immediately kill the fae once it entered their system. Those three plants combined are deadly, perhaps the mystery inside of her is what saved her. I am not sure yet, I will treat her infection for now and we will figure out the rest as we go." Madja spoke definitively.
She began rummaging through her things to find the medicines. She pulled out some liquids, a salve, and bandages. Dropping some of the mixes in your mouth, she could tell your fever was already dropping.
"We need to flip her onto her stomach so I can access her cut." The healer told them.
"I'll do it." Az jumped up.
He gently rolled you over and went to take the salve from Madja who gave him a look.
"Please." Azriel begged, needing to help you in any way he could.
She nodded at him and gave him the necessary equipment. She pulled Rhys with her out of the room, leaving you in the shadowsinger's hands.
He coated your cut with the cream and bandaged it snugly. Pulling up a chair next to the bed, he sat and watched over you.
Rhys and Madja made their way down to the rest of the group.
"I will go figure out some treatments we can try. In the meantime, I think you need to deal with Clara." Madja spoke up to the High Lord.
He gave her a nod, a steely look already in his eyes thinking about what she did to you. Entering the living area, he sent out a surge of his power so everyone felt it. He walked straight to Clara but she refused to make eye contact with the male.
"I gave you a chance here at the Night Court, to be a part of something bigger and this is how you repay me? You have caused damage to my friend that I do not know can be undone." He growled out.
"What do you mean you don't know?" Mor whispered, afraid of his answer.
"We don't know if we will be able to help Y/N. Clara here used a deadly combination of herbs on her but I'm sure she didn't expect Y/N to be so strong. Isn't that right?" He demanded.
"Wh...What? No I...I just...it wasn't supposed to kill her. It was j...just supposed to heighten her symptoms so I could then fix her. I swear. I didn't think it would do any true h...harm." She stuttered out, realizing the extent of her actions.
"Hmm so you're not a killer? Just stupid." Rhys spit out, "Nesta. Cassian. I trust you two can take care of her while I try to find a fix for Y/N?"
"I thought you'd never ask." Cassian spoke, his voice rumbling.
Nesta didn't verbally respond, just held the icy gaze she had on Clara.
"What? You can't do that!!" The female began to plead, terrified to be punished at the hands of those two.
Before anyone could respond, Nesta and Cassian winnowed away with her. Mor looked to Rhys, they shared a sorrowful look. Feeling like they betrayed you, they knew they needed to make it right. But first, they would have to help you survive.
-----
All of the venom, plants, herbs, antidots, and serums that were inside you weren't enough to knock you out fully.
You were awake through it all, fighting with everything you had inside your mind. You had felt Rhys enter your mind, tried to control your light for him but it was so strong.
Once Azriel's shadows entered protecting Rhys, you knew you had to fight harder. But you could feel everything. You could feel Madja unweaving the venom from your very soul. It was not only the worst pain physically but it made you feel so vulnerable and weak as well.
You felt another energy inside of you, something you never felt before. You tried to explore it, but the venom was controlling it and you didn't have enough strength anymore.
With Rhys and Az in your mind and Madja deep in your soul, you had never felt so bare before.
Once they finished and the venom was completely removed, you needed to rest. Knowing you couldn't fight it anymore, you succumbed to sleep.
------
After a while, you woke up. Well, your mind was awake but your body wasn't. Your power seemed to be back in your control, at least it wasn't attacking you from the inside out anymore.
You felt like you could hear something calling out deep inside of you. You couldn't ignore it, it was as if you were hypnotized, following the sound.
There was nothing physically there, at least you couldn't see anything but you could certainly feel it. It was power, antsy to get out. You reached your hand toward it and it was as if it noticed you there finally. It latched onto you and energy shot through you.
It was a feeling you had never experienced before, consuming every cell in your body. You could feel it working its way through you, waking up your physical form.
Suddenly you sat straight up in bed, gasping, no longer trapped in your mind.
"You're awake!" Azriel spoke, his eyes wide in shock.

Crestfallen - Part 3
Author’s Note: I made up a lot of sicknesses/random things that have never been mentioned throughout the actual ACOTAR series! The breaks in text are going back and forth between the two rooms.
Overall Summary: Although you were born in the Day Court, you've been living in the Night Court for a century. You're close with the inner circle but what will happen when a new healer is brought into the picture?
Part 3 Summary: Clara has been found out, but what has she done to you?
Pairing: Azriel x Reader
Warnings: talks of injuries
"I'm sure I have no idea what you mean." Clara said softly, a small confused smile on her lips.
"When I asked you to help her, you said "I didn't do this one." What does that mean." Nesta snarled at the young healer.
Mor seemed deep in thought, Azriel and Cassian were equally confused, and Nesta seemed ready to pounce.
"Now that you mention it, I do remember hearing her say that." Mor spoke up.
"You better tell us what's up right now." Cassian growled.
At this point, Clara's smile faultered. She looked around for a way out but noticed the four of them had her surrounded and they wouldn't stop until they knew the truth. She may be evil but she wasn't dumb.
"It wasn't even that bad." The healer confessed.
"What have you done?" Azriel questioned, his voice deadly calm.
------
Madja had seen cases like yours before but never this bad. The cut on your back had traces of venom in it. A rare venom that used the victim's power against them.
She needed to extract every last ounce of it that was in your system but it was trickier than it sounded. If she took too much too fast, it could essentially tear your powers from your very being which would kill you.
"I need you to enter her mind. Once you are in, I will start to remove the poison from her system, you just need to let me know if her mind starts fading." Madja explained to Rhys.
"Are you sure this will work?" Rhys asked.
"Of course I am, boy. Now do as I say." She said quickly.
Rhys tried to enter your mind but all he could see was blinding light. There was no where for him to enter, it was almost as if the light was burning him. He pulled away, never feeling anything like it before.
"I can't get in, her light, it burns me." He explained to the healer.
"Listen to me. It might burn a bit but you will be fine. On the other hand, if we don't fix her right now her light will continue to burn brighter until it has consumed her. Perhaps we could get the shadowsinger in here to help." Madja told Rhys, hoping Azriel's shadows could help.
Rhys immediately spoke to Az through his mind and he appeared within seconds.
"What can I help with?" He rushed out his question.
"I cannot enter her mind, it is too bright, painfully so. Could you somehow use your shadows to help me get through?" Rhys explained the situation.
"I can try." Az responded.
------
Cassian looked towards where Azriel just stood, knowing he went to help you.
"I have no clue what's wrong with Y/N, honest. I swear I didn't think it would go this far." Clara pleaded with the group.
"You better start explaining before I unleash Nesta upon you." Cassian threatened.
Nesta had been eerily still, like a predator hunting her prey. Clara was visibly scared. Her hands were shaking, terrified of what Nesta would do to her.
"Ok listen. I've had a huge crush on Azriel for years now, so when I saw you guys needed another healer I took that as my opportunity." The "healer" explained.
"We've only known you for 2 weeks, how could you have a crush on him for years?" Mor asked.
"Everyone knows Azriel, the mighty shadowsinger, the feared spymaster of the Night Court. Well...when I met him all he wanted to talk about was Y/N. About how much I'd love her personality, how she's so great," Clara went on, "so I was a little jealous of her."
By this point, Mor was dissappointed she didn't believe you. She assumed you were exhausted from your mission and the guilt she felt was awful.
"When she showed up to my shop I got angry that she was back so soon. Rhys wanted me to do a check up on her and all I saw was a tiny cut on her back so I thought she'd be fine and I just wanted her to leave." She continued to explain.
Nesta was fuming by this point. Not only because of what she did to her friend but also because she didn't see through Clara sooner.
"Wait wait wait, all this is happening to Y/N because you're jealous of her? What kind of vile creature are you?" Cassian seathed.
"I didn't mean for any of this to happen-" She began to plead when Azriel appeared in the room again.
------
Rhys re-entered your mind, this time with Azriel's shadows being a protective barrier around him. It was way easier this time but he wasn't sure how long Az could hold it.
"Alright, start." Rhys told Madja.
The healer began her work. Unweaving the venom from your powers, from your soul. She was about halfway through when Rhys called out.
"STOP! I can feel her fading!" Rhys was panting, he was exerting all his energy.
Madja pulled out, confusion taking over.
"This doesn't make sense. It's as if another energy is pulling her powers. Like an untouched ball of energy using up the rest of her." She explained.
"What do we do?" Azriel questioned.
"It needs another energy form to pull from..." She started.
"My shadows." He whispered.
Before anyone could stop him he sent them out to you and that little ball inside of you immediately began to absorb them. He screamed out in pain and Rhys and Madja quickly began to work.
It took only a few moments more for Madja to finish yet it felt like an eternity for the two males. It had been way easier now that Az was distracting whatever it was inside of you. The venom was successfully extracted and the room was eerily quiet. Rhys and Az both fell back, feeling drained from using their powers in such a way.
"Why isn't she waking up?" The shadowsinger whispered, making his way toward you.
"It must have to do with whatever is deep inside her. I need to do a full body work up on her to see what is going on." She spoke and started right away.
Az felt a tear slide down his cheek and quickly brushed it away. The High Lord stayed back to give you space to be checked out but he felt the same as the male next to him, worried and hopeless.
It felt like an eternity when Madja spoke up again.
"There is a substance inside her nose. Almost like a powder but I haven't seen it before. I'll have to take it back with me to break the molecules down. I'm afraid Y/N will have to stay in this state for now." She told the two males.
Azriel's head shot toward Madja at her words.
"Wait, did you say a powder was in her nose?" He muttered.
She just nodded her head in response, holding up the sample she collected. Your words from earlier popped into his head.
"Y/N told me 'she blew some powder in my face which caused everything'." Azriel stated coldly and winnowed away.
------
The shadowsinger appeared in front of Clara, his shadows surrounding her and pinning her against the wall. She shrieked in either pain or fear but he didn't care. You were in danger and he would stop at nothing to help you.
"What did you blow in Y/N's face?" He demanded.
"What?!" She feigned innocence.
Azriel held up the vial of powder close to her face. His shadows squeezed tighter around her frame.
"It's nothing serious," She weezed out, "It's a mix of vamire, spitfire aconite, and root of igranium. All it's supposed to do is heighten the pain/sickness they already have. I had an antidote that I gave her. It's in my bag."
Mor quickly grabbed the bag from the female, searching for both the powder and the antidote. She handed them both to Az.
"And why would you posion her just to give her an antidote?" Cass asked.
"I wanted to impress Azriel." She whimpered looking down.
"What's in the antidote?" Az shouted at her making her flinch.
"A..Adlirin and G..G..Green Gilliflower." She sputtered in terror.
The shadows left along with their master and she fell to the floor.
------
"Both of these are in her system," Az spoke holding the vials, "Vamire, Spitfire Aconite, Root of Igranium, Aldirin, and Green Gilliflower."
Madja's eyes grew wide and a bad feeling shot through both Az and Rhys at her reaction.
"This isn't good." She said, looking over your unconscious form.

5 Years of Agony
Author’s Note: This was another unfinished draft but I loved this idea so much so I had to finish it!! This one is more fluffy than angsty even though the title makes it seem otherwise :)
Summary: You are close to everyone except Azriel and he needs to know why!
Pairing: Azriel x Reader
Warnings: none :)
Azriel had never been quite so unsure of himself. He had his fair share of self doubting and insecurities but for some reason, this time was just... different.
Rhys had brought you to the Night Court, saved you from an awful situation and given you a place within his own family, the inner circle. Everyone loved you, how could they not? You were caring, kind, intelligent, and the most beautiful being Az had ever seen.
You had your own separate hobbies/hang outs with everyone. Everyone except Az. You went shopping with Mor, drew with Feyre while she painted, sparred with Cass, accompanied Rhys when he went to other Courts, and even researched with Amren. But you never spent time with the Spymaster of the Night Court.
It was starting to bother Azriel, seeing as he had been trying to approach you for the 5 years you had been living there. For some reason, it felt like you were avoiding him.
The first few weeks you were at the Night Court, the shadowsinger actually thought you didn't speak ever. That is until he was talking to Cass and Rhys and they brought you up. They began to tell him how funny you were and how much they enjoyed the insightful conversations you held. It hit Az then, you just didn't talk to him.
5 years in and you've only shared a handful of words. You were kind, telling him hello and goodbye but if you two were in a shared space, you normally were together in silence. He can't even think of a time you had a conversation for more than a couple minutes.
He could only think that he was the problem...right? You got along with everyone else, maybe his shadows intimidated you. Or you just didn't like him.
You were sat in the kitchen eating your lunch when you noticed a few shadows floating in. Azriel soon followed them in and started fixing himself something to eat. He took a seat across from you and began eating. The two of you ate in silence for a bit, you looked up and he was already looking at you. He gave you a smile, trying to show there was nothing to be intimidated by. You returned it with a tiny smile of you own and looked back down at your plate.
You could feel your cheeks heating up and started to get embarrassed. Before he could notice, you quickly got up and left. A frown took over Azriel's features as he looked to the chair you were once sat in.
A few weeks later you were in the Night Court's library reading. The small area you were in was nearly pitch black, the tiny light on the desk the only light for you to read your book. You didn't want to disrupt anyone so you always chose to read there.
It wasn't the best, but at least you weren't an inconvenience. As you strained your eyes to read the last line on the page, you felt a cool shadow brush across your neck. A shiver ran down your spine at the thought of who accompanied that lone tendril.
"How on Earth are you even able to read over here? There's no light!" Azriel spoke behind you.
You jumped slightly turning to look at the large male standing behind you. You placed your hand on your chest, feeling your heart beating quickly from the surprise.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you," His features softened, "I happened to notice you reading over here and wanted to offer you my reading spot. It's much better than this one... no offense."
"Um... I'm okay, I don't want to be a burden-" You began to turn his offer down but he cut you off.
"It truly is no problem at all. It's out of the way, no one goes there so you won't be bothered by anyone." He tried to persuade you.
After a few moments of thinking it over, you gave him a small nod and a slight grin. He held out his hand for you to take and you hesitantly took it, winnowing to the place he wanted to share with you.
It was a gorgeous area of the library that you had never seen before. There was a small desk in front of a large wall of books. And to the right of the desk was an open balcony with the most amazing view of the mountains. The night sky was all the light you would need to read. There were long sheer curtains hanging from the ceiling and a slight cool breeze flowed through the area making it even more perfect than you thought was possible.
"Wow" was all you could whisper as you drew closer to the railing of the balcony.
Az followed close behind you, keeping his eyes on you and memorizing the look on your face.
"I come here to read or clear my head a lot. No one comes by here so please feel free to use it whenever you'd like." He softly told you.
"Thank you-" You turned around to speak to him but quickly realized how close you two were. You raised your head to look up at him, your nerves felt like they were on fire.
"Why don't you enjoy my company?" He whispered, you could feel his breath on your face.
"What are you talking about? I do." You responded just as quiet and turned back around, looking out at the mountains.
Azriel moved next to you, so close your shoulders were touching. He was silent while he enjoyed the view like you.
"You avoid me every time you see me, and you never talk to me. But you only do that to me." He spoke while staring straight ahead.
"...I..." The words got caught in your throat.
"Have I done something to offend you? Are you scared of me? Am I that awful to be with?" He quickly asked.
Your heart broke for him. How could he think any of those things would be true?
"The truth is embarrassing." You muttered, still staring at the mountains as well.
"Please, I will get on my knees and beg, just please tell me what I did wrong. This has been the hardest 5 years of my life." The feared spymaster pleaded with you.
"It's so stupid" you muttered, "...when I first met you, I thought you were the most beautiful male I had ever seen. I was so intimidated, I literally choked on my words."
You could see his head snap to look at you out of the corner of your eye, but you didn't look at him. You were so embarrassed, your face must have been blood red by this time.
"I was terrified I was going to embarrass myself by saying something stupid so I stayed quiet. Only, that never went away and I thought too much time had passed for me to change how I was."
There was a long moment of silence, then Azriel started to laugh...hard. He was full out belly laughing, you had never heard him do that before.
You couldn't help but crack a smile at the sound.
"So you're telling me, I've been killing myself over this for 5 years. Thinking I did something to hurt you, only for the real reason to be you think I'm attractive??" He said through laughs.
"I am truly relieved, oh darling.." He drifted off as he saw the mortified look on your face.
"When I first met you, I thought you were the most stunning being I had ever seen. Then the first time I heard you talk, I thought I needed to hear that voice every single day. The first time I saw you spar Cass, I thought you were the most breathtaking warrior I had ever seen. I hope you understand what I mean by all of this." He spoke, getting softer as he went on.
Looking over to the male next to you, you urged him to go on.
"If Cass stopped talking to me for five years, I would consider myself blessed. If Rhys stopped talking to me for five years, I would be a little concerned but appreciate the quiet. You, a female I have never met before, avoid me for five years and it felt as if my heart was being pulled out through my chest." He confessed as his shadows swirled like crazy.
"Well, if I knew you were in agony I would have swallowed my pride and talked to you." You told him with a slight smirk.
He rewarded you with a stunning smile.
"I suppose I should've confessed my love for you a while ago then, hm?" He stated smoothly, stepping closer to you.
"That was you professing your love?" You teased him.
"I can do it again if you'd like." He told you as he raised his hand to tuck some hair behind your ear.
You gazed into his eyes, saying nothing.
"I would very much like to kiss you right now but I think a gentleman would take you on a date to get to know you more first." He whispered, so close it felt as if your breath was one with his.
"Well I mean, you have known me for five years." Your voice unwavering.
Azriel's pupils were blown wide at your words and he wasted no time wrapping his fingers in your hair and pulling you in.
"You're such a tease." He whispered before his lips touched yours.
It was soft at first, then it turned hungry as Az realized what he had been missing all this time. His kisses turned sloppy, trailing down your neck before he pulled away.
"If I don't stop now, I don't think I ever will." He spoke, his lips brushing over the skin of your neck.
"Then don't." You moaned out.
Azriel groaned into your neck, already craving more of you.
"You're gonna be the death of me." He muttered as his lips started moving against your skin once again.

Crestfallen - Part 2
Author’s Note: I hope everyone has a great New Years!!
Overall Summary: Although you were born in the Day Court, you've been living in the Night Court for a century. You're close with the inner circle but what will happen when a new healer is brought into the picture?
Part 2 Summary: Gaslighting and harming patients is not what a healer is supposed to do!
Pairing: Azriel x Reader
Warnings: talks of injuries
Waking up, your entire body felt like it was on fire. You couldn't remember what happened so you did what Az and Cass had trained you to do. Taking a deep breath, you assessed your surroundings. You were laying in someone's room, Azriel's room. That's a relief. One other thing you notice was you were naked and wrapped in ice cold, wet rags.
Hearing footsteps approaching, you closed your eyes and pretended to be asleep still.
"Azzy, you don't have to have her sleep in your bed. I can keep her down in the recovery room of my shop." Clara's sickly sweet voice broke the silence.
Azzy?? She has a nickname for him? She's barely known him. All these thoughts kept running through your head while you waited for his response.
"No, she's staying here. It's the least I can do for her. I should've checked on her sooner, I was just so caught up in my work that I didn't realize no one had seen or heard from her for two days." Azriel responded.
"Stop beating yourself up. She's a big girl and can handle herself. Plus, you're such an important piece in the Night Court, you don't need to be worrying so much about her." She told him.
Before she could keep going, you made it known you were awake by softly clearing your throat.
Az ran to your side and kneeled down next to you, grabbing your hand.
"You're awake! I was so worried. You've had a terrible fever so Clara wrapped you in these rags to cool you down. That cut on your back looked really bad too, why didn't you let Clara help you the other night?" Azriel spoke softly to you, and by the looks of it he hadn't been sleeping much.
"What? Clara told me-" You choked out but your throat felt so dry it was hard to talk.
"Don't you remember? I offered you the salve and wrap for your cut, told you it looked infected? You told me you just wanted to sleep it off. I didn't think that would be good but I can't force anyone to get better especially if they don't want to." She talked down to you like you were a child.
You felt like you were going crazy. Maybe Clara was right, maybe in your exhaustion you refused help and ended up getting worse. But you could've sworn she told you everything was fine.
"Water." it was all you could choke out.
"I'll get it for you." Clara offered but you didn't trust her. Especially with your mind as foggy as it was right now.
"No!" You shouted, well tried to shout.
"Ok, ok, calm down. I can get it for you, would that be ok?" Azriel asked as he gently pushed the hair out of your face.
You nodded your head and he got up to get it for you. Once he was gone, Clara started fumbling around in her bag and pulled out a powder.
She walked over to you, opening the substance and put a little bit of it in the cap.
"Wha-?" You started to say as she blew the capful of powder straight into your face.
The most intense pain took over your body. It was like your flesh was being torn from your bones. Your body writhed in agony and you were screaming out in pain. The shadowsinger came running in the room straight to you.
"What happened? Help her!" His voice was booming.
"I don't know, she was fine then all of the sudden this happened. I think I have something that can fix her!" She sounded panicked and worried for you.
Pulled a liquid out of her bag, she looked pained towards Az like she didn't want to give it to you.
"What're you doing? Hurry!!" He shouted.
"This is going to hurt her a lot, I need you to hold her down." Clara told Az.
He quickly grabbed his belt off and slipped it in your mouth so you could bite down on it and held your arms down.
"I'm so sorry," He whispered to you, "She's gonna help you, it'll be over soon."
Clara grabbed a dagger and cut down your side. She grabbed the liquid and dropped it into the cut. However bad you thought the pain was, was nothing compared to this. You thought you were going to die, the last thing you saw was Azriel' hazel eyes before passing out once again.
"She needs some time for that to kick in. Her cut must've been worse than I thought. I needed to treat the infection, the liquid I poured into the cut will do that and it will work faster the way I did it." Clara told the spymaster, walking over to him and rubbing his shoulders.
----
The next time you woke up, Az was sitting on the ground with his back against the bed. You didn't see Clara anywhere so relief instantly flooded your mind.
Sensing the change in your breathing, Azriel's head shot up and he stood up to see you.
"Hey, how are you doing?" He whispered.
"Where's Clara?" You asked, partly out of fear.
"Why? Do you need her? I can call for her-" He started
"NO" You immediately shut him down, "Please keep her away from me. I'm sick because of her!"
Azriel looked at you as if you grew a second head.
"You have to listen to me. She has been horrible to me since the second she met me..." You were pleading with him.
"Stop." He whispered but you kept going, speaking over him.
"She didn't even assess me the other night, which is why my cut is infected and then she blew some powder in my face which caused everything earlier. She is purposefully making me sick." You were rambling, trying to get him to understand.
"Enough." Azriel spoke in a stern voice, "Listen, I don't know if it's because of everything you're going through but Clara is the only reason you aren't in agony right now. You cannot pin something like this on her. She has been very essential these past 2 weeks and she is extremely kind. There is no way she could possibly do something like that."
Those words were like a punch to your gut. How could he not believe you? You've been best friends for over 75 years, known each other for a century. This is the male that you were in love with, siding with Clara.
"You don't believe me." You whispered, feeling a tear slide down your cheek.
"I'm not saying that. I'm saying you had a long, tough first solo mission and I think it's taking it's toll on you. Your mind might be playing tricks." He tried to make it better but the look he gave you was full of pity.
"Please leave now." You mumbled and turned your head away from him.
Without saying another word, you felt his shadows settle over you and as quick as they were there, they left along with their master.
------
A few days have past now with you showing no signs of improvement. You haven't gotten worse but you definitely haven't gotten better.
Mor and Nesta visited you quite a bit, Nesta even read to you every night. You asked Rhys to have Azriel stay away and even though he thought that would be counterproductive, he respected your wishes.
For 75 years, you have been in love with the Spymaster. Of course, you never told him out of fear of rejection but also because you knew he would never feel the same and it would ruin your friendship. You knew the feelings were unrequited when he didn't believe you about Clara.
It felt deeper than him not believing you, in a way it felt as if he chose her over you and that hurt far worse than any of the physical pain you went through.
As you were deep in thought, Nesta and Mor both came into your room. Well, Azriel's room. You were still too weak to move anywhere else.
"Hey, you're awake!" Mor greeted you with a smile.
"I brought a new book for us to start, if you are up for it." Nesta added.
She was always kind to you because you were there for her with everything she went through. Nesta was grateful for your unrelenting friendship and you were happy to have her as a friend.
Right as you were about to respond to Nesta, you felt the cut on your back heating up. Searing pain started shooting through your body and you thought you saw tendrils of light swirling around you. Confused and in agony, you threw your head back.
"Get Clara." Mor told Nesta as she tried to help you.
You were too weak to tell her no, the light seemed to be getting brighter. A high pitched squeal was getting louder. Suddenly, your body was being lifted in the air by the beams of light but it was as if you were paralyzed.
Clara winnowed into the room, her eyes going wide as she witnessed what was happening to you.
The noise was so loud that Nesta, Mor, and Clara were all covering their ears. Your body was convulsing, the light becoming so bright you thought you were going to explode.
"DO SOMETHING!" Mor screamed over all of the noise.
The fear in Clara's eyes was evident and she stood there not moving.
"..uh...I...I didn't do this one! I don't know how to fix it! I'll see if Madja is close by." She stated and winnowed away.
Nesta's head snapped to Clara but she was already gone. Mor ran to you but there was nothing she could do. Rhys, Azriel, and Cassian all ran into the room to see what was happening but there was nothing they could do either.
"What happened?!" Az shouted but no one responded.
A few moments passed before Clara winnowed back into the room, this time with Madja, who calmly made her way to you and hovered her hands over your form. She started mumbling some words and your body slowly laid back down on the bed.
The beams of light slowly went away and you weren't screaming in pain anymore.
"All of you. Out now. I need space to work. You need to go too, Clara." Madja spoke without looking up, "Except you, High Lord, I might need you."
Cassian, Mor, Clara, and Nesta started to get out and Azriel stayed, he couldn't leave you. Cassian grabbed him and forced him out as they all made their way down to the living area.
They all stood worrying about you, the Spymaster's shadows swirling like mad when Nesta broke the silence.
"Hey Clara...what did you mean when you said "You didn't do this one" earlier?" She spoke, her eyes narrowing on the female.

Habits
Author’s Note: This blurb has been in my drafts for a while!
Summary: Azriel loves your little habits.
Pairing: Azriel x Reader
Warnings: none!
"I do not!" You pouted at the large male in front of you.
"You definitely do!" He smirked right back at you.
You were sitting next to Azriel on the couch in the living area, arguing about one of your habits. You turned on the couch to face him and he did the same.
"You're lying!" You continued to argue but a small grin was on your face.
"I'm not! When you read or get focused on your research, your tongue pokes out the tiniest bit." The shadowsinger told you.
"I don't believe you! How would you even notice that!?" You questioned him.
"I notice everything, like how you drool in your sleep." He had a feline smirk on his face.
You lightly smacked his arm and gasped loudly.
"What're you talking about?? I don't do that either!" You shrieked.
"After all the missions we've been on together where we slept next to each other, do you really think I wouldn't notice something like that?" He continued.
A bright red blush rushed to your cheeks, embarrassment flooding through you. You looked away from Azriel and tried to think of something to change the subject when he spoke again.
"Hey, I didn't mean it in a bad way...I think it's kind of cute." He spoke once he realized you were flustered.
"You think my drooling is cute??" You asked sarcastically, not believing him one bit.
"Yep. It's as cute as you talking in your sleep." He spoke with certainty.
"Stop that!" You shouted.
Covering your face with your hands, you tried to hide away from the shadowsinger. Embarrassment continued to flood your body.
"Hey, come on I'm just messing with you." He told you and tried to pull your hands away.
You sat up as he removed your hands and realized how close the two of you were. Neither of you moved, just stayed and stared at the other.
Slowly, your tongue just barely ran along your bottom lip wetting it. His eyes followed the movement and stayed on your lips. You both leaned in slightly, lips barely touching for no more than 2 seconds when-
"Y/N - you DO drool in your sleep and Az - your wings twitch in your sleep. You're both weird." Cassian spoke as he entered the room and was gone before either of you could reply.
You both looked at each other before you burst out laughing. After a few moments, Az pulled you back to him and continued the kiss.
Sure, it might be embarrassing to drool or talk in your sleep but you didn't care anymore because Az thought it was cute.

Crestfallen - Part 1
Author’s Note: I'm on a mini break from work for a few days and I was in the mood to write! I will try to get the next part out quick but I'm not sure when it will be. I hope you enjoy!!
Overall Summary: Although you were born in the Day Court, you've been living in the Night Court for a century. You're close with the inner circle but what will happen when a new healer is brought into the picture?
Part 1 Summary: Exhausted from your first solo mission, you just want to rest but Rhys has other plans. What better way to meet the new healer than to get a check up from her?
Pairing: Azriel x Reader
Warnings: talks of injuries
Your body was laced with exhaustion and all you wanted to do was go home and sleep. You just spent a few weeks away on a tiring mission but Rhys always made you check in with him when you got back first.
So, you dragged your body up to his office and slumped down in a chair.
"You look like hell." Rhys deadpanned.
"Gee, thanks!" You retorted sarcastically.
You laid your head back against the chair hoping to relax a bit.
"I was going to go over the mission with you right now but by the looks of it, you need to be checked out by a healer." He gave you a worried look.
"I don't need-" You started but your High Lord and friend immediately cut you off.
"I don't want to hear it. You were only just our researcher, barely started training a couple months ago. This was your first solo mission. I'm sending you to the healer." His tone left no room for argument.
"Fine, I'll go see Madja." You spoke.
"Actually I forgot to tell you. Madja has been training a new healer, she started the day you left actually. You're going to love her, she's really good." Rhys gushed, "She works out of a shop in town, I'll send you the address."
You nodded your head and stood up. Not happy you had to travel to yet another place that wasn't your bed. Normally you could use your powers to take you places but lately it seemed harder and harder. Assuming it was from your exhaustion, you brushed it off.
You were born in the Day Court and quickly found your way to Velaris when you became an adult. You always felt like you didn't belong anywhere until Rhys offered you a spot in his court.
Your powers were very similar to Azriel's powers. Only instead of shadows swirling around you, you had beams of light. No one had ever trained you properly so you weren't the most comfortable being out in the field until a couple of months ago when Cassian and Azriel had started working with you.
They both felt confident enough for you to take on a solo mission, knowing it should be an easy job and that's how you ended up here, limping through town to get to a healer.
Once you found the shop, you walked in and saw Madja with a woman about your age.
"Ah dear Y/N! You are back! I would like you to meet Clara, she is a new healer in Velaris. I have to head out right now so she will be taking care of you." She spoke warmly, "And Clara, let me know your assessment of her when you are done."
She was gone within seconds after speaking. You gave Clara a small smile.
"You're Y/N?" She questioned.
"Yes, It's nice to meet you!" You told her, reaching out your hand to shake hers.
"Yeah." She said, not even looking over at you.
Assuming she was busy with whatever she was doing, you didn't think too much of it. You let your hand fall down and quickly took a seat.
"So what's wrong?" She deadpanned finally looking over at you.
"I just got back from a mission and Rhys wanted me to have a full check up. I know for sure I have a fairly long cut on my back but besides that I think I'm probably just sore." You let her know everything that was going on with you hoping she could help with your cut and get you out of here.
Without speaking, she got up and walked over to you. She started to pull your shirt up without asking and looked at the cut for about 10 seconds.
"It should heal on its own, you don't need anything from me." She stated and left the room.
You looked around the area a few times to see if anyone else was there. Maybe Cassian was pulling a prank on you, but you didn't see anyone. Confused, you stood up and called out to Clara.
"Am I good to go?" You asked with a slightly raised voice.
"Yep." She clipped out.
You were beyond confused by that entire interaction but you felt even more weak than when you were in Rhys' office. So you left to get home, bathe, and sleep.
Once you were inside your small cottage, you didn't even have any energy to get clean. You fell down on your couch and let the sleep overtake you.
---------
The knocking was getting louder by the second. It was so loud, you could practically feel the pounding in your head.
"Y/N wake up!" You heard a female voice call out.
Rolling off the couch, you slowly got up and opened the door. Mor stood on the other side with a worried look on her face. Her eyes trailed down your form and the look turned from worry to disgust.
Following her eyes, you looked down at yourself. You were still wearing your torn and dirty clothes from your mission and there was an odd odor coming from you.
"Sorry, I must've been so tired when I got home yesterday I just fell asleep without bathing." You gave Mor a sheepish look.
"Yesterday? Babe you got back from your mission two days ago!" The worry evident in her tone.
"I've been sleeping for two days?!" You shrieked.
How could that be possible?? The mission wore you out but nothing has ever made you that tired before.
"You need to see Clara. Something is definitely wrong." Mor told you.
"No, I'm ok. I'll wait until Madja is back and she can look me over then." You told her, hoping she would leave it alone.
"What? Why wouldn't you just go see Clara right now?" She questioned you.
Torn between telling her the truth or just playing it off, you decided the truth would be best.
"I saw her yesterday and she told me I was fine. Actually, she kind of brushed me off. She was very rude if I'm being totally honest." You confided in your friend.
Mor laughed right in your face, slowly stopping when she saw you weren't laughing with her.
"Wait, you're not joking? Clara is the sweetest fae I've ever met." She spoke shocked.
"Well she must've been upset yesterday or something because she was not sweet to me." You stood your ground but didn't want to keep talking bad behind her back.
"C'mon, I'll go with you. If she's rude again, I'll say something." Your friend said and held her hand out to you.
Relieved, you grabbed her hand as well. The two of you head off to the shop. You still felt drained so it took a little longer than usual. Mor kept sending worried glances at you the entire time.
The two of you entered the shop and Clara ran over to Mor, wrapping her up in a hug. She gave you a bright smile next, greeting you.
"Sorry, I wasn't sure if you'd be comfortable with hugs seeing as we just met a few days ago! How are you??" Clara spoke as if she was so excited to see you again.
Assuming that she was just having a rough night when you saw her last, you gave her the benefit of the doubt.
"Hello, well I'm still feeling pretty weak-" You started.
"She's been sleeping since you saw her two days ago." Mor finished for you.
"What?? Oh my, I better get you checked out." Clara spoke urgently, "Mor you can wait outside my shop."
Mor gave you a look and you gave her a small nod in return as if to say she was ok to leave. Once the door shut behind her, Clara started to look over some charts.
"So, you've really been sleeping for two days?" She deadpanned, her entire tone shifting once it was only you.
"Um...yes. Mor just woke me up." You stammered, shocked at the sudden change.
"Are you always so lazy?" She asked while writing something in her chart.
Your eyes went wide at her question.
"What?" You asked.
"I mean, I was told you are close to Azriel. Is that correct?" She questioned then continued without waiting for your response, "I just think it reflects poorly on the spymaster if someone so close to him is so lazy... and a slob."
She finished her sentence looking you up and down. To say you were shocked would be an understatement.
"Excuse me? I don't know if I did something to offend you but it is not ok for you to speak to me like that." You stood up as you spoke, ready to leave and never see her again.
The only problem was you must have stood up too fast because you were starting to feel dizzy. Then all at once you fell to the ground with a thud, and passed out on the floor.

Not an Early Riser
Author’s Note: Lucien needed some love!! I think he would be such a gentle partner <3 Enjoy this little blurb!
Summary: You never wake up early enough to get a croissant :(
Pairing: Lucien x Reader
Warnings: None, let me know if I need to add any :)
---
Your favorite bakery had been out of croissants for three weeks now. Every time you visited the shop and saw there were none left, you walked out feeling blue. The problem was the store sold out of them so fast in the morning and you were not an early riser.
One late morning you were walking home grumbling about life being unfair when Lucien saw you and stopped you.
"What's wrong?" He spoke with a gentle laugh. He thought your pouting was adorable.
"I never get up early enough to get a croissant from the bakery." You mumbled to the male and kept on walking to your home.
A grin grew on his face and a plan started to form in his mind.
---
The next morning you went to the bakery and instead of hearing bad news, you got the best news ever.
"We have three croissants saved for you." The baker told you, "They've already been paid for as well. Have a nice day!"
Your eyes grew wide with joy and you took the pastries. There was only one person who knew about your misfortune and you knew you had to thank him.
A little while later you were sitting in the library researching when Lucien entered. You saw him and your whole face lit up, remembering what he did for you.
"Oh my, what have I done to deserve such a beautiful smile?" Lucien pondered.
"I know it was you. Thank you, it made my entire week so much better." You exclaimed!
"I'll make sure you have fresh goods every morning if it means your smile will be directed at me." He purred.
A blush took over your face and you looked down, flustered. You cleared your throat and looked back up at the red-haired male.
"Well, I have to get back to my work but I wanted my appreciation known." You said gently.
He bowed his head slightly in acknowledgment and you stood on your toes. Before you could stop yourself, you placed a kiss on his cheek. It was Lucien's turn to blush and become flustered now.
You went back to your seat in the library and Lucien was still standing there, fingers touching where your lips met his skin. If he wasn't madly in love with you before, he definitely was now.

Not Good Enough
Author’s Note: My second job started up again, I take care of my nephew in the mornings and after school, and I've been sick!! I have about 7 WIPs right now that I know need a lot more time before they will be finished. I hope you all enjoy this story!!
Summary: You know you're ready to go on your first mission but what does Az think?
Pairing: Azriel x Reader
Warnings: a few cuss words, let me know if I need to add any :)
---
“You can’t be serious.” You shouted at the male in front of you.
“I’m the most serious I’ve ever been. And this argument is over.” He calmly stated in response.
You scoffed and looked over to Cass for help but he refused to make eye contact. Looking back at Azriel, you decided you wouldn’t give up that easy.
“You don’t get to decide when the argument is over. I’m coming with on this mission, I can help you.” You argued.
“Yes, I do get to decide that. No, you’re not coming. And no, you can’t help us. End. Of. Discussion.” He was starting to get frustrated with you.
His words only made you more mad, your temper getting the best of you.
“You’re ridiculous! You have been training me for months.. MONTHS! And you haven’t let me go on a single mission or actually see any action. This trip will be too dangerous for just the two of you. You need me to help you so why can’t you just let me come with.” You exclaimed.
“Because you’re not good enough!” Az shouted right back.
Ouch. That one hurt. Before you could compose yourself he continued.
“If you’re not fast enough, strong enough, smart enough when you’re on missions like these, you die. I was put in charge of you to train you and it is up to me to decide when you are good enough. I am telling you that you aren’t. I don’t want to hear about any of this again!” He finished his rant, his chest was heaving.
You tried to hide it but the look of hurt was clear on your face. When you glanced over at Cassian he was looking at you this time, like you were a puppy who had just been kicked. You hated it, you didn’t want sympathy.
Az noticed how much he hurt you and reached out his hand to you.
“Y/N-” He started but you backed away from his reach.
You turned around and walked away before he could try and speak to you again. Eventually Cass and Az continued to prepare for their mission and you went to your room before you could be embarrassed any further.
You couldn’t believe him, he trained you for months and always told you how well you were doing. He would tell you how you impressed him with your intelligence but now you’re not good enough? You knew you were good enough. During the meeting with the IC, when Az first announced you wouldn’t be joining him and Cass, both Feyre and Rhys looked surprised as well.
Before you could talk yourself out of it, you started to pack. You gathered your weapons and your bag and slid on your gear. When Cass and Az left, you waited a bit and then quietly followed their trail. It didn't matter that Az thought so lowly of you, you were going to prove him wrong.
You knew you had to stay a little farther back so they wouldn’t notice you, so you tracked them instead. Using all of the training you’ve had, you successfully followed them and stayed hidden the whole time.
The mission was supposed to be simple. Find the creature that had been causing problems and kill it. It should be easy enough for Cass and Az so you really couldn’t understand why he refused to bring you with.
You watched as Az and Cass followed the monster into the woods, trying to catch it off guard so it would be an easy kill. You stayed hidden in the shadows behind them and to the right when you heard some shuffling. Peering to where the noise was, you saw a second creature sneaking behind the 2 Illyrians.
Before you could even blink, the first creature turned around and swung at the two. The monster behind them pounced and landed on Cassian. He managed to fight it off and was dealing with that one when you saw Az backed into a tree. The vile beast swung at him again, and sent Az flying to the ground.
You took off running straight to Az, knowing you had to save him. Right before the creature could land the killing blow, you jumped on it's back. With fairly large daggers in both hands you brought your arms down, impaling it in the head with the two blades. It died quickly and fell with you still on top of it.
Cass had already killed the other one and came over to help you roll the creature off of Az. You held your hand out to him to help him up. After just saving his life, surely he sees how well you can do your job.
“What are you doing here?!” He yelled at you, rage in his eyes.
You were stunned, you saved his life and this is how he treats you? No, maybe he was in shock still?
“I assessed the situation first, Cass was holding his own and I saw you about to be killed so I acted fast. And I effectively and efficiently eliminated the threat. I did everything right-” You explained but he cut you off.
“No, what you did was disobey my direct orders to stay home. You could have been killed! You aren’t ready to handle this yet and you just proved it by not listening to me!” He continued to yell at you.
“How about you try saying ‘thank you’, you know, for literally saving your life one minute ago.” You sneered.
It was silent while the two of you glared at each other, smoke practically shooting out of your ears before Cass stepped in.
“Listen she did just save our asses and she’s already here now. We were going to set up camp and head home tomorrow anyways so she can just stay with us.” He told Az and then looked at you, “Come on, the cabin is about 30 minutes from here. Let’s go.”
He held out his arms, insinuating you needed to let him carry you so he could fly you to the cabin. The flight went by fast and you were still pissed at the spymaster when you landed.
The three of you entered the space silently and it wasn’t until Cass said something that you realized what the problem was.
“There’s only two beds.” He stated.
“Yes, because there was only supposed to be two of us on this mission.” Az grumbled and sent a look your way.
You rolled your eyes at him and looked at Cass instead.
“It’s a long trip home tomorrow so none of us should sleep on the floor. We don’t want to have a bad back all day long, believe me I’ve been there before. So who wants to share a bed?” Cass asked with a grin.
“Let’s just get three sticks. We can pull them and whoever pulls the longest gets the bed to themselves?” You suggested.
“Pretty and smart.” Cassian replied with a wink at you.
Az let out a growl at his words and Cass held his hands up. Unbelievable, he couldn’t even let anyone else compliment me.
“Fine.” Az agreed to your plan.
You all pulled sticks and held them up. Cass quickly let out a cheer, seeing his was the longest and started getting cozy in bed. You and Az glanced at each other and painfully made your way over to the bed. You sat on the edge of the bed when the spymaster hesitated.
“No. I’m not sharing a bed with her.” Az told Cass.
“Oh grow up. You’re mad at me so you’re going to throw a tantrum? It’s just for one night, then I promise you won’t ever have to be disgusted by sharing a bed with me again.” you snapped.
“What? No.. I’m not…I just…” He trailed off, “Fine. We leave at sunrise.”
Cass nodded his head in agreement and closed his eyes to sleep. You laid down and Az slowly got into the bed next to you, making sure to stay as far away as he could. The first thing you noticed was how cold the room was. Wrapping your arms around yourself, you decided to just try to stay put, too mad to ask for something to warm you up. Eventually, you let sleep take over.
You woke up to a large hand gently shaking your shoulder.
“Come on, you’re freezing.” Az whispered to you.
“I’m fine.” You stubbornly stated.
“No, you’re not. You’re literally shivering.” He argued.
You tried to stay completely still, to stop the shaking but you were just so cold.
“You would rather freeze to death than get close to me?” He added when you didn’t respond.
You stayed silent again and his hand traveled to your waist. His other hand slid under you and he pulled you into his chest. His wings wrapped around the both of you, creating warmth and giving you instant relief. You slightly pushed back into him even more, craving his body heat and he responded by wrapping his arms around you tighter.
You were still mad at him but you would be lying if this position didn't make you blush. For a while now, you've had a bit of a crush on the Shadowsinger, which is probably why everything he said to you hurt even worse. Pushing those thoughts to the back of your head, you decided to just relax.
The two of you fell asleep that way and when you woke up, his wings were still around you but now your face was nuzzled into his chest.
“It’s been sunrise for 45 minutes now. C’mon wake her up, it’s time to go.” Cassian complained.
“Shh. She hasn’t gotten this much rest in a while. Let her sleep a little longer.” Az grumbled.
His hands were rubbing up and down your back and you desperately wanted to stay like this longer. But then you remembered how mad you were at him so you opened your eyes. You got up and started to gather your things to leave, ignoring the look on Azriel’s face.
“Morning sunshine.” Cassian smirked at you.
You flipped him off and walked past him.
“Alright, we have to walk for about two hours north, then we can fly the rest of the way.” Az told you the plan.
“I know. Don’t forget I made the whole trip here.” You spoke with a sharp edge to your tone.
“Yeah, I was going to ask you. How did you know where we were? I mean you can’t fly so how did you follow us?” Cass inquired.
“I didn’t follow you. I tracked you. I stayed hidden the entire time and using the limited knowledge I had of the mission, I figured out where you were headed. It was actually pretty easy.” You asserted.
Cassian’s eyebrows raised in awe and Azriel’s eyebrows shot down in confusion.
“No that doesn’t make sense.” Az grumbled.
“Az, she outsmarted us and saved our asses. It’s time to admit you were wrong.” Cass stuck up for you.
You gave Cass a slight nod in thanks and the three of you continued to walk home. No one spoke for the rest of the walk until it came time to fly the rest of the way. You went up to Cass but he didn’t reach for you.
“I’m sorry, I hurt myself last night fighting the creature. Az will have to fly you.” Cass explained.
You were confused because he flew you last night after the mission but you were too drained to argue. Slowly, you made your way over to Az. Before Cass took off you heard him say 'Tell her' and fly off. You gave Az a confused look and he shrugged his shoulders.
He picked you up and the two of you took off. You could see Cass ahead of you but you were far back enough that he couldn’t hear you.
“What did Cass mean?” You asked.
Az stared straight ahead and didn’t respond.
“Really? I mean you can’t even talk to me now? You’ve been so rude to-” You started.
“I was scared.” He muttered, “I was scared of you getting hurt, ok? I didn’t want you in the field because I can’t lose you. I know you’re smart and strong enough but I was.. I don’t know. It’s stupid and I’m sorry.”
“Oh.” You said dumbly.
“That’s it?! Yell at me or something, I know I was an ass. I’m so sorry.” He told you.
“I’m not going to yell at you… I understand the fear of losing someone. Why do you think I wanted to come with? When I saw that beast on top of you about to kill you…I didn’t even stop to think. I just knew I had to save you, I’ve never felt that type of fear before. If something happened to you.. I don’t even want to think about that.” You told the male holding you.
“Well, I think it’s time for me to thank you for saving my life. If you weren’t there, me and Cass would both be gone right now, so thank you.” He gently spoke.
You gave him a warm smile and held onto him just a little bit tighter. There was comfortable silence for a little bit before you heard Az clear his throat.
“Now, tell me how you really tracked us all the way there. There was a point in the journey where we went through a portal. It would’ve been impossible to track us unless you had put a spell on the portal.” Az wondered.
“Ok fine. Once you got to the portal, one of your shadows noticed me and instead of letting you know, it stayed behind. It waited for me to catch up. Then it led me to you and even silenced my steps in the woods.” You admitted.
“What?!” he spoke in shock.
He looked down and could see a little shadow curled in your hair, peeking out like a child about to get scolded.
“You little traitor!” He gasped.
“Hey don’t be mean to it! I used my resources like you taught me, it just so happened that one of your shadows was a resource to me.” You let out a small laugh.
You could see the house coming into view when all of the sudden, Az took a turn and started to head towards a mountain instead. You weren’t sure where he was going but you trusted him so you stayed quiet. He landed and set you down.
“So there is actually one more thing that I have to confess. My shadows have always liked you.” He blurted.
“Well I like them too.” You told him, confused at his confession.
“Ok that’s not all.. I also like you, a lot. Look I’m not good at this, I actually have a terrible track record but all I know is I love you. And I don’t want to mess this up.” He finally revealed the truth to you.
“That’s actually really convenient because I love you too. I’ve actually been madly in love with you for a while now.” You told him.
“I really want to kiss you right now but I’m covered in mud and gunk from the mission yesterday and I want our first kiss to be nicer than that. After we get home and get cleaned up would you like to go on a date with me? Maybe get some dinner?” He nervously asked you.
“I would love nothing more than to go out with you.” You blushed.
His smile lit up his whole face. The two of you made your way to the house and once you were cleaned up you met in the living area. Before you left for your date you wanted to mess with him a little.
“I bet you’re happy I didn’t follow your orders, huh?” You joked.
“Yeah yeah, I would have told you my true feelings eventually.” Az grumbled.
“NO YOU WOULDN’T HAVE. I HAD TO LISTEN TO YOU BITCH ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS FOR HER FOR MONTHS NOW.” Cassian screamed.

The Bet | Part 2
Author’s Note: I really wanted to make a Part 2 for this!! I have MANY wips right now so hopefully I'll have more for you guys soon :) also I absolutely LOVE all of your comments and will reply to them as soon as I can! <3
Summary: You won the bet but exactly how funny are you??
Pairing: Azriel x Reader
Warnings: none, let me know if I need to add any :)
---
The bet you made with Cass and Rhys was the best thing to ever happen to you. A few days after you won, the entire inner circle went out for a night at Rita’s. Rhys and Cass had stayed true to their word and bought your drinks the entire night but the best part was Az had admitted his feelings to you.
The two of you went on a couple dates and eventually he asked you to be his. It was the happiest you had ever been.
You were currently sitting with the shadowsinger, each reading your books in silence when you spoke up.
“Ya know…I once heard a joke about amnesia… but I forgot how it goes!” You told the male with a grin on your face.
He gave you a loud laugh and pulled you closer, kissing the side of your head.
“When did you come up with that one?” He asked with a grin still on his face.
“Oh I just thought of it.” You said with a smirk, satisfied you made him laugh.
“You’ll have to tell Feyre that one, I think she’ll like it.” Az told you.
You nodded your head in agreement and you both went back to reading your books.
---
You were currently in the Summer Court with the rest of the inner circle for some business. You were all looking out at the sea, enjoying the view when you spoke up.
“What did the ocean say to the beach? ...Nothing, it just waved!" You said, stifling a laugh.
Az began to laugh immediately, Feyre joined him soon after. What you didn’t see was Feyre elbowing Rhys and Cass, forcing them to laugh at your joke. Mor just chuckled, seeing everything go down.
The spymaster pulled you in close to his side, resting his hand on your hip. He gave his brothers a quick glare over your head when you weren’t looking and they held up their hands in defense.
---
You were sitting with Cass and Rhys, waiting for a chance to tell them the new joke you learned.
“Hey, did you guys hear about the guy who got hit in the head with a can of soda??” You asked them, feigning a look of concern.
“What, oh no! Is he ok??” Rhys questioned.
“Yeah, he was lucky it was a soft drink!” You told them with excited eyes.
The two males sat across from you with blank faces, not budging even a tiny bit.
“C’mon you guys!! That was funny! Az would’ve laughed.” You huffed a breath.
“He only laughs because he’s getting some from you!” Cass stated, causing Rhys to hit his shoulder.
You gasped and placed a hand on your chest in offense.
"I'll have you know, Az loves my humor!! You're just upset because he thinks I'm funnier than you!" You smirked at Cass.
"She's got you there, she is waaayyy funnier than you." Rhys added, also smirking at the male.
"I hate both of you." Cass deadpanned.
---
A few days had passed and you were walking through the house trying to find the spymaster. You were passing by Rhys’ office when you heard him speak.
“It’s not that serious.” Rhys spoke.
“Yeah, just relax.” Cass added.
“It is that serious, I will not relax, and I will hurt you if you don’t listen to me.” Az threatened.
You gasped, not sure of what they could be discussing that was so serious. He sounded so upset with Rhys and Cass, you were about to burst through the door to figure out what was going on when you heard Cass speak again.
“I won’t laugh at Y/N’s jokes if they’re not funny!” Cass whisper shouted.
“It's really just the puns, they're awful!! I can’t fake laugh at those.” Rhys said in the same tone.
There were a few beats of silence before you heard Az sigh.
“Listen I know how bad the jokes are, but she loves them. You guys know how much I hate puns but do you see how happy she gets when she tells us a new joke? So I don’t care how hard you have to try, you will laugh at her jokes and tell her you like them.” He told his brothers.
You left to go to your room and didn’t hear the rest of the conversation. You felt conflicted. On one hand, you were hurt that he never actually liked your jokes but on the other, your heart melted at the lengths he was going to for you. But if he was lying about something as simple as liking your puns then what else was he lying about? Before you could continue to spiral, the male in question walked in.
“Hello my love, what’re you up to?” He asked you with a sweet smile, pulling you in for a kiss.
You turned your head last minute so his lips landed on your cheek. He gave you a confused look and tried again. This time, you put your finger on his lips to stop him, looking up into his face.
“What’re you doing?” His voice muffled by your finger.
“You don’t like my puns.” You stated simply and pulled your finger away.
“What?! Of course I do! They make me laugh so hard!” His voice got higher the longer the sentence went on.
“Az, stop. I heard you threatening Cass and Rhys.” You admitted.
His face dropped, shoulders slumped, and he looked genuinely devastated.
“Let me explain-” He started but you were quick to cut him off.
“Don’t…I’m not mad. Maybe a little sad that you don’t think I’m funny but when I heard you saying all of that…I think I fell even more in love with you.” You told him as your cheeks reddened.
“Really?” His eyes brightened instantly.
“Yeah, no one has ever gone through that much trouble just to make me happy.” You beamed.
“I really do love you so much… Also I do think you’re funny. I just really hate puns.” He told you.
“I love you too,” You spoke as you wrapped your arms around his neck, “And just so you know, you are o-fish-ally off the hook for pretending to like my puns.”
Genuine laughter came out of the male in front of you this time. He pulled you in closer and wrapped his arms around your waist.
“Alright that one actually got me.” He whispered as he laid his forehead on yours.
He slowly leaned in and brushed his lips against yours, a soft exhale leaving him. A few blissful moments passed before he began to whisper.
“Just so you know, I would’ve endured and laughed at your puns for eternity.” Az confessed.
“Would’ve? No you definitely will be doing that.” You retorted.
Az just let out another laugh and pulled you back down for more kisses. A lifetime of puns didn’t sound so bad, as long as they were coming from you.
Let me know if you want to be added to the taglist :)
