he was dead, he was so sure of it. he couldn’t feel anything, see anything.

after saying goodbye to his friends he was left in a limbo, floating in a dark abyss with no way out. drowning in the silence and pitch black that had extended infinitely.

yet, he still had some form of consciousness… was this death? was this his fate, the punishment he received for being the strongest? all the pain and suffering he lived through in his lifetime, just to be trapped in another prison of nothingness.

no… this wasn’t death. this wasn’t the afterlife he was sentenced to, he could feel something faintly tugging at him, pulling at his hand, prodding at his chest.

he was swiftly yanked back, the darkness transitioning to a blinding light that caused him to hiss as he closed his eyes against the harsh white.

his hearing returned first after the ringing settled, he was on high alert, mind still reeling with thoughts about what was going on. he heard a sniffle, and a broken laugh.

satoru opened his eyes slowly, carefully. your soft voice called out to him.

“welcome back, satoru.”
