I always indicate in the book's folder's name how much is uploaded ("up to ch x files"). If something is missing it's probably in a later chapter.

I had to stop playing TDG properly a good while ago because I was busy and never picked it back up because PB is pushing out so many books now, I can never catch up. RL work won't let up so I'm behind on multiple books.

I'm sorry but I don't know when I'll have time to upload the missing files. If you really need a specific file I might look for it when I have the time (definitely not this week).

Some more receipts for y’all. It was pointed out to me earlier via a Discord friend that they used a different hairstyle for Black Charles in this preview than in the August 2023 Choices Insiders:

I don’t think it’s really a spoiler but technically datamined info so...

that masc ID MC hairstyle they used in the preview is gonna be one for Body Type 2 in DLS (well, an almost imperceptibly reworked version, to fit the faces I guess). And the Insider sneak peek hair is indeed paired with that LI version. At least that’s in the chapter files now.

I don’t get why PB can’t pay a little more attention.

bc the LI’s pronouns are used so frequently it would require separate variants for thousands of lines to match proper verb conjugations (for NB!MC by comparison, it would be more in the dozens)

That’s not how the coding works so it’s not that time consuming. It’s not that they took every line referring to MC and wrote 2-3 versions, they already established a system that changes the word based on the needed conjugation.

The way it works is that they “tag” (at least that’s my easily consumable word for it) words that need to be changed based on the LI’s/MC’s gender. For binary, it was easy, like {he} (as they tag it usually, the brackets show it’s changeable) will be ‘he’ or ‘she’. And if you see (usually a masculine) pronoun that didn’t change, it’s because they forgot to tag the word. Another common mistake is them saying his/her instead of his/hers because they tagged it as a {his} (his/her) instead of a {hisp} (p meaning possessive which changes into his/hers).

(IMHO it’d be infinitely easier if they just always used they/them/their/theirs even for binary characters because that leaves no questions and is even possibly less jarring if they forget to tag it... but PB just has to be cisnormative. Or more like, I think, they write the original script with m!LI in mind and just tag the words later... ANYWAY.)

For non-binary (MC for now), they have these suffixes coded (’y’ in the example means ‘you’) that will change any word they apply it to:

{y.s} (e.g. work{y.s} -> work/works)

{y.es} (e.g. do{y.es} -> do/does)

{y.ies} (e.g. cr{y.ies} -> cry/cries)

{y.is} (-> is/are)

{y.was} (-> was/were)

{y.is_'s} (when it’s she’s/he’s/they’re instead of she/he is or they are)

{y.has} (-> has/have)

{y.has_'s} (when it’s she’s/he’s/they’ve instead of she/he has or they have)

If they did end up adding it, though, that would be super neat, and I’d be extremely interested in seeing how they handled it from a technical angle. Because I can’t really think of an efficient way to do it myself.

So that’s the answer to your inquiry. (I hope the way I explained makes sense and the exact examples from the coding don’t confuse people.)

And I recognize that even with the established coding it definitely takes effort to tag all the words for a non-binary LI. But if only they just wrote them as enby it’d be easier... Or, hear me out, use AI for good (e.g. proofreading the script) instead of stealing art cough sl cough, just a thought...

Is there anyway to just get transparents of the markings on the aliens in Across the Void? I would love to be able to turn Hana Lee or another character into an alien. It's okay if it's impossible to do so. Thank you for providing all the sprites and backgrounds and all the assets you do upload for us! 😁

The ATV alien markings are part of the base sprites so you’d have to edit them out of the raw file.

I’m not that good at editing on that level, nor do I have the time for it recently so I don’t think I could do it, but maybe some of the talented people in the fandom could help you out.

i am so, so glad you guys are loving my trans lesbian daughter aisha bhatt as much as i do! it was really important to me to be able to write a love interest who was both trans and gay, and it was also really important to me to have a flashback moment where we meet her at the very beginning of her transition. so many trans people, including myself, have the experience of desperately wanting to transition but feeling like it’s pointless to even think about it because they’ll never “pass,” let alone be considered beautiful, as their true gender. like, so much of your self-worth is wrapped up in whether or not you look like a cis person! and it shouldn’t be like that!!

so, with the college flashback scene, where we meet aisha for the first time on her first night on the town presenting as a woman, i was very specific in my notes to pixelberry’s art team: like, this is essentially Day One for aisha, she still has pretty short hair, her makeup is gonna be modest because she doesn’t have a ton of experience applying it yet, and she’s not exactly “passing” perfectly, but that doesn’t matter! fuck that! what matters is that she’s finally getting to be who she is and she’s radiantly happy about it and her friends are behind her 110%! and she’s taken her first step on this road and she’s gonna continue on that road and we will meet her again in adulthood as an exquisite butch in a leather jacket and a cool pixie cut. 

anyway!! i can’t wait for you all to get to know aisha on this wild vegas journey. for those of you who aren’t in the choices fandom already, you can download the choices: stories you play app on the app store and click on “bachelorette party” to meet her!!

I’ve looked at the files, and literally only Kamilah’s smiling face appears to have changed atm. whether or not they’ll be changing the others idk, but this is what they did (old face is on the left)
