Andor Season 2

Finished my latest fixation which was Andor season 2. It totally delivered but I almost wish we didn't have those year long time gaps. But I think it paid off in the way the ending transitions into Rogue One. I mean to watch that soon now.

K2SO, Saw and Kleya stole the show for me in Season 2. It's funny how Cassian is always there but he's really not the Main guy or it almost doesn't feel like it? Maybe it will feel on a rewatch that he is more central. I think that's ok as the part of Rogue One which was so appealing to me almost 10 years ago was how the Rebllion was more than just the heroes.

I will probably be reblogging a lot of Andor stuff!

Part 1 had a very clear winner with The Reveal 1.0. Part 2 was a back-and-forth race between "taming the warg" and "dueling Gal" but the duel came out the winner.

I do think half the fun in fanfics and shipping is making existing characters more interesting with new or more complex relationships!

"I just want to touch on the Maiar!Celebrían thing and just say…I will never understand or agree with it but my reasoning has some merit. This fandom, in all its branches has consistently used Celebrían as a punching bag ( the track record for any female character is just as abysmal if I’m being honest ). I’ve seen the weirdest takes about how Elrond settled for her because he couldn’t have Galadriel, how he couldn’t wait to get his dick wet the second she left to heal. ( heal from torture and SA, to be incredibly frank ). I’ve consistently seen her thrown around, seen her autonomy stripped for the sake of fetish content so this take is just unfortunately another side of a many faced coin. A female character is being used and that’s where I think a lot of people, myself included might take issue. Give Sauron and Galadriel a half- Maiar kid like fill your fucking boots but this girlie has suffered enough at the hands of both Tolkien and the fandom for YEARS. Let her exist as herself and be enough as is."

Fortunately I've been less active in the fandom and haven't seen any hate, but I remember from the very beginning of Haladriel after season 1 how much this upset certain people. I can't believe people are still up in arms about it. It's just a fun idea!

Now with ROP S2 and certain other events I wonder how many people are going to equally hate some kind of parentage for Celebrian from Adariel or Elondriel, or even I'm almost half convinced the show is going to go with a Arondir/Galadriel ship next season? I'm sure those theories are coming out now?

Actually now that I think about it - having Gil-galad / Galadriel be Celebrian's parents would also be funny based just on the very last scenes of S2 😂

I can’t with this Half-Maia Celebrían discourse anymore. And now even Tolkien himself is to blame, apparently. I could write a lot about this, but I’ll keep it short:

Celebrían is not real. Galadriel is not real. The women and folks who are being actively shamed because they dare to have headcanons about fictional female characters, are. We are not dealing with the misogynist and religious zealots of the Tolkien fandom here. It’s mostly women and queer folks who are being targeted by this discourse, which now even includes kink-shaming. It reeks of purity culture.

Sorry not sorry if we are blasphemying your “Madonna Galadriel” by having her fuck with the Devil’s chief demon in several contexts and scenarios, from which a powerful child might be born.

Anyway, I’m off to ao3 to read some Half-Maia Celebrían fanfiction.

“Ready for what?” Galadriel heard herself ask, unable to recall anything past falling asleep under the cover of cold stars and a black sky in ruins. She tried to remember past that, but it was futile.

For a moment, Celebrían’s face fell. Disappointment or uncertainty, but it tugged at Galadriel’s heart all the same to see it.

“Don’t you remember?” asked Celebrían nervously, shifting on her legs as she fidgeted at the edges of her dress with her fingers. “Last night,” Celebrían reminded her, “you said we were going to see Atya today.”
