Wow. It's been a while, y'all. Between work nonsense, travel prep, and visiting with family, I've been busy busy -- but I've finally got some room to breathe, and now I can talk about some of the new models I've picked up the past few weeks!
First and foremost, I managed to rescue an old model from storage at my dad's house! Behold, a literary icon: the Black Stallion!

Not much to remark on here -- I've had this guy for a couple of years, but only just now got around to fully freeing him from yellow box jail. The Black Stallion was one of my favorite movies as a kid, and it's nice to finally have a model of the titular horse! Also very fun that I've got a physical copy of the original book, which I've read... all of one time, I think. I'll be traveling out of state here soon for a family event, so it'll be good to have some reading material!
Next, I finally scratched the red roan itch and got my first ever Breyerfest exclusive model: Rapunzel, from 2022's event Prost! <3

I like this girl SO much and could not be happier with her. Red roan is in my top 5 coat colors, and having it on the Astrid cast (aka one of the prettiest ones Breyer has released in the last few years) makes it that much better. Not to mention the fact that I love her details so much! Especially the little braid right around her bridle path, and her brown eyes!

No further notes here. Good job, Breyer! xxx
Next up, another exciting addition to my herd: my first EVER Peter Stone horse!

It would be fruitless to even attempt describe the breadth and width of my excitement when I found this guy. I've always wanted to have at least ONE Peter Stone horse in my collection -- and so when I found this guy on Ebay, I couldn't resist. He's a DAH model from 2014, which makes him pretty special I think! It makes me happy thinking about whoever designed him and how much care must have gone into selecting his coat color, markings, and so on. He's definitely a new favorite, and I have christened him "Gilded Sentinel," aka "Sam." Really looking forward to getting outside at some point and getting photos with him!
Next up, I finally managed to get my hands on a model I've wanted for over a decade: an original finish Sato!

This guy's got a bit of a story attached to him, through no fault of his own. He was near-mint when I bought him, but owing to some mishaps in transit he arrived at my place with his tail snapped off completely at the very base. I spent all of 3 days sulking about it before finally deciding I was going to fix it, by which point, my boyfriend was visiting for a few days and was available to provide assistance with glueing the tail back in place. So now, he's good as new! (He's got a newly acquired bit of individuality in the form of a thumbprint impression in some superglue that my boyfriend left behind, and I wrote a poem about the whole thing. Maybe I'll post it if people are interested in that kind of thing.) In any case, tragedy aside, I'm very happy that this guy's in my collection now and I'll be sure to take good care of him!
Last, but certainly not least, I was able to get my hands on a very special lady -- Constantia, from the 2022 Premier Club!!

I got this girl for a pretty low price, and upon arrival, I could see why. She didn't come with the box or bag that is standard for Premier Club models, and unfortunately there are a number of flaws with her paint job. That being said, I'm not too worried as I don't do live shows and don't intend on doing so at any point in the future. I've always wanted a Premier Club model, and given that she came with her COA, I'm very pleased to have her all things considered. She's gorgeous, and I love how well she photographs!

All in all, it's been a fun past few weeks. I've still got a couple of models coming in the next few weeks and will be posting those at some point!

It's been a couple years since I completed a custom on the Hartland Lady Jade mold--in fact, the last one was my first completed custom of 2022, and this is my first completed custom of 2024! I've made her over into this gorgeous dapple bay with golden undertones, and the pictures don't do justice to how rich her coloration came out!
She's available at https://www.etsy.com/listing/1840698528/andromeda-hartland-custom-dapple-bay

Another day, another post, and more yapping about new models I've gotten! I ordered a handful from an Ebay seller over the weekend, and they arrived today! To start us off, I bought my first ever non-equine Breyer: a vintage golden retriever!

I've never been big into collecting the non-equine companion models, but golden retrievers are my favorite and I really liked this guy! He will need some minor touch-ups due to having scuffed paint on his left side, but thankfully it's not super noticeable. I think he'll be a cute little addition to future photoshoots if I ever decide to do more staged scenes!
Now... onto the big ticket items I ordered. Behold: Diadem and Alcor!

I've been seeing these two pop up here and there on Ebay for years since they've been retired, and it's only just now that I decided to get them. I made a good call, because while I loved them just from the photos I saw online, they're even more amazing in hand. I didn't realize that Alcor has purple and blue interference in his coat, and I love it! He's so shiny!

Diadem is also one of the most radiant, elegant unicorn models I've seen. While I do love Breyer models that have glitter manes (see: Cascade and Caspian), I really appreciate that they went for a more subtle and elegant approach with both her and Alcor. I super respect that they have matching gold details on their horns and hooves, and I'm especially in love with the lavender pearlescent effect on Diadem's coat. And that's not even accounting for how expressive her face is, or how the pink muzzle sets her apart from other unicorns with darker shading. More unicorns like this, Breyer, please and thank you! I'm begging!

The only thing I'm a bit bummed about is that she does have some pretty deep scratches on her show side that weren't visible in the Ebay listing photos. It's not a super huge deal, though, since I should be able to (carefully) camouflage them with proper lighting and environments. And regardless of her scratches, she is still very beautiful and special!

Overall, I'm very happy with these two. They're a very sweet pair, and I'm so glad they're part of my collection now!
#.txt#chatter#img#my collection#Breyer-Reeves#Traditional scale (1:9)#when I posted these guys to my friend group chat on Discord one of them went 'Having rainbow undertones with mama'#and tbh? yeah <3#I've got like one more model I'm waiting on being delivered. possibly two#(but that's looking less likely due to recent developments unforch)#and then after that I'm gonna try to just pull back on buying anything that's NOT for the Stablemates Club#the Collector Club IS currently running its member appreciation event rn! however.#after the Rambler duplicate saga I'm not gonna leave it to chance with randomly shipped models for a while LOL#that can wait til Breyerfest!#(assuming I like the surprise model that gets announced)

Alright, I'm late posting this since the weekend got busy (work event, boyfriend in town to visit and Kentucky Derby celebratory affairs chiefly), but on Friday I got the custom Stablemate I ordered!

Man, I like this guy so much. I happened across him while digging around on Ebay to see if I could find Salem or any of the many other grail models I'm after, and was IMMEDIATELY in love. I decided to shoot my shot and send the seller an offer, and the offer got accepted! I'm so happy I got him -- the detail on his face is amazing!

I'm really hoping that the seller adds more of these little ghost themed guys so I can add other beauties like him to my collection. It looks like they've sold a handful of others similar to him, so I'll definitely be keeping my eyes peeled! In the meantime, I've got other goodies that will hopefully be arriving in the next week or so, and I'm excited to share those soon! :D

Congratulations Sovereignty on the Kentucky Derby victory!
Journalism looked every bit the winner when he hit the lead at the top of the stretch, but Sovereignty was right beside him and would not be denied as they battled to the wire. Baeza came flying up behind them for a fast closing third with Final Gambit in his wake. Owen Almighty was the last speed horse standing, holding off the rest of the field to get fifth.
The top 5 finishers were
Sovereignty
Journalism
Baeza
Final Gambit
Owen Almighty
#img#art#irl horses#this was a GREAT race!!!! good boy Sovereignty!!!#I wouldn't be mad about getting a model of him because he's one good looking horse#and his connections (jockey + trainer namely) are awesome

Shambling in here to share more horse acquisition news: my Ramblers arrived today! Unfortunately for me, each of the 3 models I ordered were the same coat color, which is a huge bummer. I was hoping for 2 of a kind so I could give one away and keep the other two. However, here's the good news: the one color I got was the semi-leopard appaloosa, which was what I wanted most!!

Quality-wise, none of the models I got were perfect, as all of them had flaws of some kind (some minor issues with uneven seams, and one has some debris caught in the gloss around the bridlepath). Still, I can't complain too much -- this guy is lovely and I adore the cast he's on. I really, really like the roaning/varnish effect they managed to achieve with the speckledy coat!

The two duplicate models have blessedly found very happy homes. My younger sister had already laid claim to any possible appy duplicates in the case that I happened to end up with an extra, so one of them will be going to live with her. The other one was claimed by my housemate @mayriecate, who owns an appy cross mare irl! In both cases, I think it worked out well and I'm glad they're going to folks who will love and appreciate them. <3
Having this guy in hand also now has got me thinking about what I could do with my other recent Classic scale acquisition. The Collector Club store has been listing club exclusive models from past years, including Santino, which was the 2023 gambler's choice model. I ended up getting the glossy coat variation for that model, and she pairs REALLY nicely with this guy!

Suffice it to say, I think I've got plans rolling for the next model horse photoshoot I do outdoors. With any luck, the weather will cooperate in the next few days so my models and I can touch grass 🙏
#chatter#.txt#img#my collection#Breyer-Reeves#Breyer CC25#Classic scale (1:12)#ngl at first I was pretty bummed that I didn't get the other coat variations#BUT. after further consideration. if there were any variation I had to get duplicates of. I'm glad it was this guy#both sis and housemate were SO excited about getting to have and hold appaloosa guy! and tbh I'd rather that than trying to resell#and regardless of which variations I got this was much needed today. work was very crummy unforch#and the promise of Hold Plastic Honse was enough to help me persevere through#also. my cat seemed to REALLY like Rambler fsr. like. sniffing him and trying to rub her face all over him. so her approval has to mean sth

Glorious news, y'all! UPS tracking was accurate, and Cascade and Caspian arrived today! Behold!

I loved both of these guys before, but having them in hand now I'm so impressed with them. They're beautiful! I'm so in love with Cascade especially -- that blue coat with the deep navy shading and lavender interference is to die for!

Caspian is also a cutie patootie and very handsome in his own right. I didn't realize the Sea Star cast has a wobbly bow-legged stance, and it adds so much charm.

Overall, couldn't be happier with these two. I'm itching to get outside and do some photography soon!!
#.txt#img#chatter#my collection#Breyer-Reeves#Traditional scale (1:9)#seriously so happy rn!!! I've wanted these two for SIX YEARS. SIX!!!!#that's a long long longgggg time to pine over UNICORNS#I've also got other exciting news. but I will be withholding that for rn until things are completely Set In Stone
