Luigi would most likely be too scared to fall asleep on his own (unless out of pure exhaustion) so I'd imagine Bowser would be more than willing to help him get to sleep, by any means necessary. Luigi needs to eat, something both he and Bowser knows, so all Bowser has to do is wait out his hunger. As well, Bowser wouldn't want to let Luigi out of his sight at any time, so they'd probably share a bed

You mentioned once that in the unrealistically angsty bowigi au that Bowser thinks he's saving Luigi, but what exactly does he think he's saving him from? Like a specific person in the mushroom kingdom, or "the stress of his everyday life" or something?

Bowser kinda views Luigi's whole life up until their meeting as one big tragedy. He was bullied a lot as a kid, Mario's accomplishments did and continue to overshadow anything Luigi does, he continued to be bullied into adulthood, he's had to provide aid to people who didn't appreciate it and made no effort to give back, and all of that has lead to Luigi having some not great opinions of himself, as evidence by him not really fighting back when people are mean to him.

To Bowser, Luigi has only ever suffered at the hands of other people, so he's committed to getting him out of that situation by any means necessary.

yes. It's the only way for Luigi to be saved without his rescue directly leading to Bowser going on a rampage.

Ohhhh, Luigi's room in bowser's castle in the angsty au looks amazing! How does it look inside? can luigi use it or is he tied up all the time?

it's definitely very ornate! He probably got some good use out of it in the beginning, before Bowser decided further measures needed to be put in place to keep Luigi 'safe'. Tho he didn't really use anything in the room for its intended purpose

I've been noticing in your angst au that Bowser's eyes have a pink glow to them, is that just a random design choice or is there a deeper meaning to it?

originally i started giving Bowser pink hearts in his eyes as a visual way to signify his mania, and as a reminder to both myself and the audience that any version of Bowser in his right mind would NEVER in a million years act the way that Bowser acts in this au

at some point someone pointed out that the heart eyes make it look like Bowser is almost possessed by his obsession and I really liked that analogy so I've been heavily leaning into that symbolism since, and have thus added the glow to add to that more "possessed" vibe

What about a wholesome reunion between Mario and Luigi in your angst au (as in the immediate aftermath of Mario (and maybe Peach depending on if she came with him or not) finally defeating Bowser and saving Luigi)?

combined these two asks.

in the au i think to give Luigi a little reprieve his dreams would be horror free. It's waking up that's the nightmare.

Thus his eventual real rescue leaves him a little confused at first when he doesn't immediately wake up.

Hi there... Umm I never really asked a lot of the angst au but I was wondering something when I saw the answered ask of Bowser trying to comfort a crying Luigi, my real question is... Does Luigi eventually get Stockholm syndrome, or was he saved quick enough to not get that yet?

Nope! He never develops stockholm syndrome. There may be times when he doesn't fight as hard to escape as others, but he is still very hurt by Bowser't initial betrayal of his trust that he never gains any positive feelings for him, platonic or otherwise

he's captured for maybe over a month? 2 months at most? It's a long time but not long enough to get bleak. Hope is hard to kill

Angsty Bowigi please! Luigi ever got hurt during his stay with the koopas? If so, how did Bowser react???

nothing serious, but he did get some scrapes and bruises when he almost escaped.

Bowser wouldn't hurt him beyond an accidental bruise, and all the castle staff know never to touch Luigi even if they see him sprinting down the hall, cause Bowser probably isn't far behind him.

I feel like in your angsty Bowuigi au Princess Peach would probably be sort of mixed on the whole situation, I mean she thought the treaty was a stupid idea from the get go, and with Bowser distracted with Luigi the mushroom kingdom is safe right? So I feel like in the end she would have the mindset of “He brought this upon himself by befriending Bowser in the first place.” Which is fucked up yes but it’s either rescue Luigi and cause Bowser to go on a bat shit insane murdering spree on the Mushroom kingdom, or just leave them alone, kind of a hard stand still, and we all know Mario is having none of that.

i can agree that she would have the thought of "I told you so" about the whole situation but I doubt she would voice that. In A Table Turned during the treaty she was expecting to be proven wrong, and then when she wasn't and Luigi (from her perspective) betrayed her trust and put her people in danger, that's what set her off.

Here? She knew Bowser was dangerous and was proven 100% right. She has no reason to dig her heels in on this one, so I imagine she'd be very sympathetic and very worried about Luigi's safety alongside Mario (not AS worried as Mario, but worried). She'd def try to come up with a plan alongside Mario to save Luigi while also protecting her people. It's a hard spot to be in

Hello! In the Angsty Bowigi Au, we know that Bowser loves Luigi, but what do his minions have to say about it? I mean, they may not say anything for fear of Bowser anger, but do they like Luigi?

i'd imagine they're pretty indifferent about the whole thing. Maybe like a handful find it a tad unsettling but that'd be it. I imagine they'd act no different from when Bowser kidnapped Peach, and would just keep on working with their heads down.

unsettling could probably be the single descriptive word for this au lol. 'Creepy' might be the runner-up

but yes it would be very unsettling. As I said Bowser views Luigi's struggles as him just adjusting to his new life, and something that will pass with time. He doesn't want Luigi to be upset, so him crying I imagine would be something that Bowser is very reverent about. He would def do everything he thought was right to comfort Luigi like rubbing his back, rocking him, and saying things to make him hopeful (well, as hopeful as different iterations of "you'll get used to it" can sound anyway), and would speak very soft and gentle.

Angst au question! Did bowser every reach the point to say follow King boos method and just put luigi in a painting?

i don't think so. A big thing for Bowser is that he's kind of convinced himself that this is what's best for Luigi in the long run and chalks up all of Luigi's struggles and attempts to escape as him just adjusting to the situation. Sticking him in a painting and watching him be upset isn't what he's after. There's a lot of focus on physical affection as a way to try and provide comfort without letting Luigi go

he's also just head over heels for Luigi and very much enjoys just being able to hold him
