100 Day Song Challenge: Day 2 - A song from the first album you ever bought. (what was the album?) Love Just Is by Hilary Duff, off of her first album, Metamorphosis. This album came out when I was in 7th or 8th grade and it was the first CD I bought with my own money.... I was obsessed with Hilary Duff at the time, completely in love. This song has always been my favorite on that album.

100 Day Music Challenge: Day 1 - A song you know all the lyrics to. There's a lot.... but I think I'll I will have to go with Don't Take The Girl by Tim McGraw, because it was probably the very first song I ever got massively addicted to when I was 4, maybe 5 years old. For me, it's not only the most nostalgic song ever, but it's one that I will always remember every lyric to... whether it's been two days or ten years since I last heard it.

30 Days of SO Weird: Day 3 - Episodes that scared you.
As a kid, I don’t think any of the episodes legitimately scared me. Of course, going back and watching it as an adult, it’s a completely different experience. I still don’t find that many episodes to be legitimately scary to me, but there are a couple that have the capacity to keep me up at night. Here’s a Top 3!
Tumblr media
1. Fall
The first that comes to mind is Fall. I know others have pointed it out as well, but what easily makes this probably THE most scary episode is the fact that it’s so real. Things that happen in this episodes, in Ned’s childhood, are very much things that can happen in real life. It’s actually something I wish the show did a little more of... playing off real life dangers.
Tumblr media
2. Angel
Angel also comes to mind. Something about the angel getting the message through to Fi that she’s Gabe’s match. When Fi looks at her hand and sees the bones, how she walks into the light with that angel by her side. It’s just so creepy and gives me the chills every time I watch it.
Tumblr media
3. Family Reunion
Okay, so to be fair, the pilot episode isn’t THAT scary on the surface, at least I don’t think it is. I remember watching it back when I was nine and not having any trouble sleeping. Of course, I also remember watching for the first time as an adult in 2011, and it was an interesting experience. At the time I lived at my grandma’s house which was really big and possibly haunted to be honest. I was watching it at 2 AM and when I was done I had to go to the bathroom. Usually I didn’t have any trouble walking through the house at night, but something about this episode just made my imagination go CRAZY. And getting any sleep that night? Yeah... just didn’t happen. I was too hypersensitive to the smallest sounds. Also, something about the picture of the ghost boy on the laptop turning to look at Fi and all the water streaming down the screen never fails to haunt me. The chills!
Honorable Mentions: Tulpa, Nightmare, Widow’s Walk, Dead Ringer

Even though Vampire has never ranked as one of my favorite episodes and it’s actually one I don’t mind skipping during a rewatch... this is going to be bugging me for a while. Has anyone thought of asking Jon Cooksey? I mean... it wouldn’t be the first time he answered fan questions about ditched plots.

“I wonder if he’s more like her… or his father” – Brett
I would love to know the story behind how Brett knows Rick.

THIS. All of this! I relate to this trait on so many levels. I am not even being cocky when I say I am probably one of the hardest workers and most ambitious people I know of. I have huge goals in life, I am pretty well educated, I love learning... but I was never great at school. I have always been a C student, and I could never focus on school enough to really get it. Those C’s I got weren’t out of laziness as much as the education system just not working for kids like me. I worked hard for those barely passing grades.
Of course, this trend continued into college and I actually dropped out of college twice (IE: I was thrown out because grades were never good enough). A lot of people, especially family, tell me it’s because I don’t try hard enough, but they fail to see that I am a hard worker and I am extremely ambitious, and I will achieve anything I put my mind to, degree or no degree. In fact, everything I want to do professionally is basically degree optional. It might be helpful, but it’s in no way a prerequisite.
I think today’s society puts too much pressure on people to go to college and get a degree in some field that will make a lot of money. For some reason, society equates how you perform in school with how far you will go in life... and that just isn’t how it is.
Tumblr media
“Fi had trouble with her homework in several episodes, looked disappointed when she got her test back from Ned in “Escape,” and basically said that she wasn’t a great student when she talked to Jack in “Vampire.” Even so, Fi clearly had a love of learning and discovery. Her eyes lit up at so many places on the tour when she found out about something she didn’t know before. One could never doubt her work ethic, either, given her creation and maintenance of her website and her thorough research of everything she uncovered. Struggling in school and enjoying learning are not mutually exclusive traits, and neither are struggling in school/being a hard worker, and it’s nice that the show acknowledged that.“

30 Days of So Weird: Day 2 - Favorite Episodes
This is actually something that changes ALL THE TIME, based on my mood... but there are a few that always remain on top, or at least near the top, no matter what. So here’s a Top 5 because picking just one is literally murder to my soul.
Tumblr media
1. Banshee
Banshee was my #1 favorite episode when I originally watched it when I was about 10, and the hype for that episode remains even today, for me personally. It always stuck in my mind, even in the several years between the show ending and me finding it again on youtube in 2011. There was a point in which I forgot the show’s name, but there were three things I always remembered that ultimately lead to figuring out what the show was, two of which are featured in this episode: the Banshee’s cry and the glowing rings. (The third thing, for those who are curious, is Annie’s panther in season 3. The image of a panther with glowing eyes lying next to a pink wall was always burning in the back of my mind when I tried to recall the show).
I think there will always be something that leads me to this episode. How we learn about the O’Shannon’s witch history, or maybe the clues about Rick’s death, or Molly’s performance of The Rock and finally hearing her father say he’s proud of her - something she’s clearly longed to hear for a really long time. There are so many reasons why this episode will always hold a special place in my heart.
Tumblr media
2. Strange Geometry
Of course the episode in which Fi learns a pretty hefty secret about her dad has to be a favorite. Cara DeLizia’s performance in this whole episode is just on top of it’s game. It’s the episode that really goes to prove that she is one of the most underrated child actors, and with her talent... who really knows where she would be today if she stayed on for S3 or got more parts after she left the show. Also to note: This show did a better job at explaining the golden ratio than any of my college professors.
Tumblr media
3. Encore
This episode combines three of my favorite things. Music - which is probably my #1 obsession, flashbacks, and the emotions! As soon as the episode starts and the opening sequence is Molly talking to the camera rather than Fi talking about whatever the episode is about, you sense this episode is going to be a special one. And it is, not just for me. I know a lot of fans love this episode, and how could they not? It’s the closest to a real Molly Phillips concert that we will ever get.
In this episode, Molly decides to put touring on hold and go back home, because she’s afraid for Fi. Fi struggles with this decision because she feels she’s so close to figuring out what her father was looking for. The emotions throughout are just so heavy and you can really feel what the characters are going through at the time.
Tumblr media
4. Rebecca
Another fan favorite! This is probably my favorite Molly-centric episode that never fails to make me cry like a baby. We learn about Rebecca, who was once a friend of Molly’s when she was about Fi’s age when Molly sees her for the first time in forever, and she’s still Fi’s age, but she’s claiming to be Rebecca’s daughter. Fi spends the episode learning about Rebecca and trying to help her mom get closure. Of course, that wouldn’t me emotional enough... instead, Molly ends up with a bad case of deja vu as Rebecca leaves once again, without giving her the closure she deserves. The episode ends with Molly singing her song Rebecca and a montage that is enough to split a heart in two.
Tumblr media
5. Dead Ringer
Of course I have to include a season 3 episode because I am probably the only person to give it a fair chance and include any of it on a regular basis during this challenge. While there are things I highly dislike about the episode, for example the family house that’s described in Molly’s song More Like A River and that’s actually seen in Season 2 as the house Molly lived in with Jack and Fi since Rick was around, was completely retconned. Despite that, I still kind of love this episode for it’s horror quality. It’s easily the scariest (actually the only scary) episode of season 3. Annie brings a box from a yard sale home, Jack learns the stuff used to belong to an old neighbor (Mr. Applebaum), which causes Jack to remember that one time he hit a golf ball through Mr. Applebaum’s window. He never told Mr. Applebaum about it and Mr. Applebaum never fixed it, so Jack’s guilt got the best of him. Molly and Annie go to a concert, leaving Jack alone for a few hours, which results in Jack’s imagination running wild, hearing things like Mr. Applebaum’s antique phone ringing and balls crashing into the window. His guilt drives him insane until the end when Jack drives over to Mr. Applebaum’s old house and sneaks in to see the window was still broken, only to find out that the window did in fact get fixed and that hole was from another kid that morning. A talk with the kid puts his mind to rest.
All in all, I feel like this episode is highly underrated because it’s a season 3 episode, and it has a similar feel to the previous two seasons in terms of how scary it is. I don’t recommend watching it at midnight unless you wanna be hypersensitive to all the sounds you might hear trying to sleep.

30 Days of So Weird: Day 1 - First Experience
About a year and a half ago, I reblogged this post, saying I was going to do it “soon.” Well, uh.... better late than never? LOL, considering I actually helped create this challenge, it’s kinda hilarious.
ANYWAYS... So Weird Day 1: Your experience watching the show when it aired or when you watched it for the first time...
Tumblr media
I was nine when So Weird started airing. I don’t really have a ton of memories from back then, because my home life was terrible. Mom was an addict, I was often neglected, so a huge amount of memories are just blacked out. The one thing I can honestly say I never once forgot is how I used to stay up way past my bed time on school nights to watch this show. It was my everything around that time, the good I had to look forward to at the end of the night before finally going to sleep. I remember looking up to Fi and wishing I could be her. Cara was probably my first major celebrity crush growing up. I feel like So Weird influenced me in ways I never thought it would. As cheesy as it is to say, I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for this show.

Back in the day, I used to post fanfiction on a tumblr sideblog of mine... for nostalgia sake, I wanted to go through that tumblr, and this particular gem from November 2011 caught my eye.
Even though I have not actually posted anything on that blog since 2012, I still write fanfiction literally all the time. Literally, nothing has changed. Well, except most all of my fics these days are for So Weird, not as much Doctor Who.
Part of me is wondering if I should start posting on there again. I seriously have like hundreds hoarded away on Google Docs. XD

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I'm sorry, this shouldn't be as funny as I'm making it out to be, but I completely lost it at "Bricriu grounds Fi." Only Fi can manage to get grounded by a little tiny evil ball of light inhabiting her mother who is obsessed with scratching posts. :p
#Theory Bricriu was a cat in his past life. Yes, because of the scratching posts.

Beauty, Brains and Gender Equality.
I am gonna take this opportunity to come out on this blog, if I haven’t already. I am a lesbian. I am a feminist. I am a fighter for equal rights, for everyone. I am also what one would call a Sapiosexual, which means I am highly attracted to people who are highly intelligent. If a girl has a really bright mind, it really doesn’t matter to me if she looks attractive… I will still form a mad crush on her.
I’ve recently been binge-watching videos on SciShow Space, as one does when they’re not feeling all that well… There are three hosts, Hank Green, Reid Reimers and Caitlin Hofmeister. Since I am actually completely caught up on the videos, I actually spent a lot of time today reading comments… I must admit, my faith in humanity, assuming I even had any left, just plummeted at that point. Such a huge difference, whether it’s Hank or Reid presenting or if it’s Caitlin. It’s basically…
Guy presents interesting subject: Most comments are discussing the topic at hand. Girl presents interesting subject: Most comments are focusing on her appearance, bashing her for not being “camera material.”
What the fuck, society? It’s not the 1950s. What does it even matter that she isn’t necessarily attractive. What she doesn’t have in beauty is more than made up with brains. Believe it or not, not all women get ready for the day with men in mind, wanting to please you. It’s sick, that women are still, in this day and age, seen as objects to please men rather than the people they are.
What bugs me even more about this is that they are so focused on her not being pretty enough that they become blind to the material that is actually being presented. It’s stupid and objectifying. Why not, instead of trying to be pleased by what you’re seeing, learn from what you are hearing and instead of making hate comments, comment on something that interested you about the given subject. It would certainly make you sound smarter than spewing hate for something that doesn’t even concern you, like… at all. Oh, wait, I’m sorry… I forgot that women are supposed to be inferior to men in all respects. All beauty, no brains, am I right? Does anybody realize how stupid that notion sounds? How insulting it is? How backwards do you even have to be to actually think like that?
How about instead of focusing on what is for men, and what is for women... we focus on how best to move forward as humans, which let's be real... if it weren't for some pretty intelligent women in history, society might as well actually be screwed.
If by chance Caitlin ever does read this… keep being awesome! :)

Overly Attached Fanboys = Very Confused Melissa
Every fandom has it’s overly attached fangirl, or in the case that inspired this blog post, fanboy. In my opinion, it’s okay to be obsessed with something or someone… I myself am obsessed with many things, I fangirl more than most people I know, but also less than a lot of people I know. I’m a very level headed fangirl, I know the line where it becomes too much, and I steer clear of it.
The thing that inspired this post… I am on this forum, for a musician I used to fangirl over, Alexz Johnson. Actually, a lot of people used to fangirl over her, but as time went on, a lot of us fans saw her true colors, it kind of got old. Of course there are still the fans that continually support her, but it’s not just support when they think she’s a saint when she’s so clearly not, is it?
As much as I obsess over my own fandoms and my own favorite celebrities, I still cannot imagine what it must be like to obsess over something so much that it practically and almost literally becomes your religion. Having someone you know basically nothing about on a personal level, and treating them like they’re your best friend and treating them like some sort of god… I guess it just confuses me, how someone could love someone/something so much and find themselves ready and willing to give a huge part of their lives away to it without a second thought, even though they know nothing more than what they can see through the camera lens.
And then when people try and tell this person to take a step back, evaluate his life and his choices, which - in my honest opinion, is pretty sound advice… he gets defensive and feels attacked. Is it because we’re stronger, we did that ourselves when we were very much at that level ourselves not that long ago? Maybe it’s denial… she’s like a Goddess and a Goddess can do no wrong. Very much how the more serious, bible thumping Christians treat the bible and their God…
Maybe it’s not really for me to understand, but to observe with consistent confusion. :p

About Me
I thought I’d do a little random “About Me” post along with introduce you to this new blog, or what I hope for it to be…
My name is Melissa, I turned 25 about a week and a half ago. I feel like I’m constantly growing and changing, so I feel that is a lot of what this blog might become about. As a way to document things I’ve thought and felt while on my personal journey of trying to find myself and trying to achieve this self actualization thing Maslow spoke of in his day. Or maybe you might say I’m documenting my quarter-year crisis to laugh about later. :p
Another thing, I obsess over basically everything. Music, books, TV, art… so I would definitely not be surprised if the blog became a little of that as well.
More random facts about me…
I am a college returnee.
Sometimes I RP, fandoms include So Wierd, Buffy and Doctor Who.
My biggest TV obsession is So Weird, which is one of Disney’s most awesome shows, but also among Disney’s most forgotten shows. Also Buffy.
Biggest Music obsession changes all the time, but at the moment it is Taylor Swift. Also Ed Sheeran. I love them so much… separately and together. :p
I have six best friends, three of whom I’ve met thanks to the internet, and the other three I’ve known for a while IRL. I love them all so much. :)
As of right now, I am reading this awesome book called Loving Anna that I highly recommend if you’re into lesbian fiction.
Speaking of which I am a lesbian.
With two gay ex boyfriends.
And like three high school crushes on men who would later come out as gay.
Basically, if you’re a gay guy and need to turn someone your way, just consult me. (Kidding! :p )
Basically, I’m awesome and I know it. :)
