It is troublesome finding good apps for learning Icelandic. My books are great, but apps are more helpful for establishing daily learning routines. I have been using Duolingo for Norwegian the past two weeks, but they do not have Icelandic, unfortunately. And it is Icelandic that I truly love and want to ‘master’ one day.

I think that everybody in the langblr community needs to cut themselves a break. Maybe you’re learning French and you’re trying to read a paragraph, but you only understand 10 or 15 words or maybe 2 or 3 sentences. That is frustrating, I get frustrated about similar things as well, but I always remind myself there was a time where I didn’t know those words and there was a time I couldn’t read those sentences. Any progress you make is good progress. Just because you’re not progressing as fast as you’d like doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be proud of smaller goals and accomplishments. And just because someone else seems to be learning quicker doesn’t make your time and effort worth any less.

That post made me think of resetting my French duolingo progress, so I did. I got everything right  except the last question (I said voilà instead of voici what the--)
Kind of surprised I’m 58% fluent according to duolingo standards, though. Guess I must be doing something right??

note: This masterpost is mostly made for new studyblrs, but anyone can grab ideas from this post if you are having trouble.
The most common thing studyblr’s think when summer starts is that their tumblr or instagram will get really inactive because well um there’s no school. But don’t worry! Here I have a few things that you can post during summer that will keep your account active, and help motivate yourself during summer.
It’s not for the followers or anything, it’s mostly because of what my school calls the “ Summer Slide,” It’s important that you keep on reading and studying during summer so you can be prepared for what is to come next year, which I think is rlly important!
Khan Academy
If you don’t already know about this, Khan is a website where it teaches you through videos not only math, but some science, history, and even music! A super great website and this goes from elementary to high school math, so in my case, I will be finishing the 8th-grade math course, and finish algebra I and algebra II. If you are a college student, try mathtv (ap math teacher recommended this website!)
Post ideas:
Tumblr / instagram: You will have extra time to make your notes nice, so with whatever material you learn, make notes about it !!
Youtube: you can do study with me’s! I love love watching these videos bc they help me motivate myself, and others! Spend those extra minutes making everything look aesthetic
        2.  Reading
This is what my literature teacher was talking about!! Make sure to read read read!! My goal is to read 8 novels this summer! ( create a realistic goal for yourself as well! And remember! Make a short term goal because surpassing this small goal feels better than not surpassing a larger goal )
For elementary – high school students, use this website to find books!  You can filter the results to find something that suits you!
Post ideas:
Tumblr: you can write a mini book report about a book you’ve read, and use the #bookblr and #book so people from the books community can find your report! Make sure to add in for what grade level, your rating, overall thoughts, etc. !! Yo make sure to tag me if you got some 9-12th-grade book recs
Instagram / tumblr: take some nice looking aesthetic photos of the books you read each couple of weeks!
Youtube: If you already have book recs, share them with everyone in a video! Label for what grade levels you are recommending these books to!
         3.  Bullet Journal
I feel like this is the most obvious one aha, but share your bujo!! With summer now here, you can have that extra 30 minutes to make your bujo look so extra. (actually me all the time aha) but srsly, here are some ideas for your bujo instead of the regular spreads because there is a 99.9% chance that you will end up posting bujo pics anyway!
Make a kpop idol about spread! Choose your fave band, and each week print out some pictures of each member and make a spread that explains why you stan them, or just things that make them special! Find inspo from Queen here!
If you aren’t into kpop, choose book characters from your fave book and write about a different character each week, or however long your summer break is!
If you are going on vacation, make a travel spread that includes maps, receipts, or aesthetic things you find, and make it look nice! Include reviews about restaurants you have gone to, or things you liked about the country/city and stuff you didn’t etc. ( I have so many ideas I can blab forever )
If you want to do the book review thing, but making entire posts would be difficult on you, you can make short paragraph reviews about it as a spread in your bujo, or if you read manga, ( !! ) you can make a review every 3-5 chapters you read!
Create mood boards !!! Get some super artsy pics from we heart it or art blogs on tumblr (but always give credits), and create your aesthetic and something that will motivate you to study, or clean, etc!!
For Instagram and tumblr, you can just post these as pictures, and add a nice filter, but with youtube, you can create bujo inspo ideas or the regular “monthly bujo spread”
        4.  Food
Okay, sooooo food is life guys. Share some healthy but yummy foods that will get people who see your posts be super super motivated to eat healthy.
Check out some fun quick recipes here from my fave, that will motivate you to cook! (take advantage of the time you have now!) Make sure to make your pictures/content look nice!
Post Ideas:
Instagram and tumblr you can just post some nice aesthetic pictures, along with maybe your weekly bujo spread or something because it’s important to post relevant things since you are a studyblr.
Youtube: you can post your weekly meal plan or maybe even teach/show foods you eat while studying, or what you recommend some healthy ( maybe even vegan?) alternatives to your regular junk food.
        5. Queue
It’s understandable that the stuff I mentioned might be almost impossible for some people because you either have sports, music lessons, etc. So posting original content might be difficult. If you don’t already know about this, meet your best friend queue !!
Take 5 minutes out of your day, follow blogs that are going to be active in the summer (maybe even ask?) and queue their posts. In your tumblr setting, you can set up how many posts you want to post from your queue every day, and the time. Since I’m posting original content and stuff every week, I limit my queue for 2 posts every day. During the summer, I’m increasing it to 5 posts every day.
This will help keep your account pretty active, and you can occasionally post your original content! This is totally a solution if you are limited in time
For Instagram, try to at least post once a week so that your followers know that you have not abandoned the account.
For youtube, let your subscribers know ahead of time that you won’t upload in let’s say, 2 weeks. This is important because when new people find your channel, they will be able to know that “Oh this person hasn’t uploaded in a month because of blah blah” Or you can always let them know to follow your tumblr, since you will be more “active” on there.
Things to keep in mind:
Always always always compliment people! In their bujo, notes, or anything they post! That makes everyone happy (:
Don’t have your studyblr for the followers. It’s annoying sometimes when people do shout out for shout out on their insta stories.
It’s totally okay for your pictures to not be aesthetic. It’s the content that counts.
Appreciate the time you have now bc when its school, its crunch time
I hope everyone who read this got something from this and gave you some good ideas on what to post during summer because I see a lot of people just having no idea, so I hope I helped!
Also, if you do any of these ideas or you post videos of reviews or book reports, or make character bujo spreads please please please let me know!! I would love to see inspo on stuff like that, and it would really help me!
Ps: If you want to follow an active account for the summer, I’m all open!
Make sure summer vacation isn’t a barrier from you to keep on motivating others on your account!
