Fox: Please don’t use the lightening stuff on me, it really hurts.
Plo, just trying to pick his troopers up from the drunk tank, not wanting to disturb Wolffe from a much needed nap: …………………….. Who’s using lightening on you?
Fox: Palpatine? I presumed that was standard for natborns?
Plo: no…. No, it’s not???

People have probably already pointed this out, but it's only recently hit me that all the clones were basically 20 (or younger) at the start of the Clone Wars. So there's all these commanders and whatnot who seems serious and experienced and grizzly, and they're not even old enough to drink yet. I'm almost 20, and I barely know what's going on. These guys are in high ranking military positions! I see Cody and Rex in the pilot movie, and I'll randomly remember that these guys are basically my age. I know they have had a lifetime of training, but this is ridiculous. I can't even take them that seriously anymore because of this. These guys are way too young for this.
Then again, they did also make the literal teenage Padawans into commanders, so maybe the 20 y/o is an upgrade.
#And them being 20 developmentally is actually having 10 years of being alive#Like all of the emotional regulation of a 20 yr old with flash training#so no real life experience to speak of other than making it through training#and 10 years of practicing being alive#10 year old me knew#like#barely anything#there's not enough time for things to stew in their heads

Can you imagine how the commanders felt when they found out they would have Jedi placed over them in the chain of command?
Sure they had been raised and trained to believe the Jedi were good and they were made to serve the republic together. But it had to have grated that they were all going to have to take order form pacifist space monks with an unknown level of experience in combat or military strategy and logistics. The commanders were probably worried that they were going to end up with incompetent generals or worse.
Instead they end up with this grab bag of, largely, the nicest people you’ve ever known.
Ponds probably thinks he lucked out. Master Windu is sensible, levelheaded and spends half or more of his time safely tucked away in the Jedi Temple where he’s unlikely to get shot.
Cody is doomed from the start. He stood absolutely no chance against Obi Wan. No man should be that combination of confident, compassionate and hot.
Same goes for Bly. Honestly it probably felt like the floor collapsed under him when Master Secura took command.
Rex is honestly too busy dealing with Skywalker’s antics and his manic nexu padawan to even wonder if he got a good deal or a bad one.
Master Mundi seemed sensible and level headed until he started telling stories about his wives and showing holos of his kids.
Wolffe probably thought he lucked out at first. Mater Plo seems like a dignified older gentleman who knows to stay out of the line of fire… aaaand he’s taking a jaunt out in the vacuum of space without a suit.
These Jedi are all crazy.

Explaining my specific hyperfixation to my friends that barely know anything about Star Wars or The Clone Wars is so embarrassing cause I'll be like
"So the Coruscant Guard are extremely tragic characters no matter how you spin them. Some people view them as emotionless, callous puppets of the Senate, forsaking their bonds of brotherhood with those who are fighting and dying on the front lines and instead heeding the beck and call of those who puppeteer the war. Some people believe that they are the "perfect" example of Kaminoan engineering, as they're the perfect soldiers willing to risk life and limb for the overall safety of the Republic with little thought of themselves or anyone else. Other people like myself view them as extremely tragic in the sense of them being examples of people scraping by, not the ones forsaking their brothers on the other side but are instead the ones who are forsaken by them. They scrape by for food and supplies, living in a hostile environment with people who view them as nothing more than government property; and yet they're the ones seen as safe and secure and a division ripples through the GAR who cannot see their brothers suffering not behind enemy lines but behind allied lines. How they must balance duty with also the oath of loyalty and love sworn by Clones as is coded in their very DNA; and yet they must march on, they must make the killing shots and the hard decisions and it is orchestrated all by those who have power over them and all that we know and yet they're the blame. No matter what they are they are tools."
And my friends are like "wow, they sound cool, can you show me the things that make people think this way about them?" And I have to say "no sorry, they have like 15 speaking lines and 30 minutes of screen time and this is all made up."

Mandalorians love adopting kids right? And you know who’s very much parentless? Clones. But they’re fighting a war, they move around a lot. But the Coruscant Guard doesn’t. They can’t escape. They’d get collectively adopted by every madalorian on the planet. Corries warn their brothers to be careful when on shore leave, but it’s not enough to stop them from forcibly experiencing unconditional parental love and affection. But the clones consider each other family, they’re all brothers. Adopt one, you adopt them all. But one parent can only care for so many kids. So for the first time in centuries all Madalorians unite under one banner for the sake of their millions s of collective children.

Hangar Rat '48
'48 was a bit confused when the nat-born mechanics in the little dingy out of the way hangar they've come to work in start calling them 'the little hangar rat'.
'48 was pretty sure that usually being called a rat wasn't exactly a compliment, but as far as they could tell there wasn't any malice. It almost seemed like a form of endearment, but why?
For weeks, '48 tried to subtly ask what a 'hangar rat' was. Eventually, they gathered that all of the nat-born mechanics had started their careers as hangar rats. They were interested in the ships, and just hung around their local hangar learning and helping out until they got an apprenticeship or job.
It's like being affectionately adopted into the fold at the hangar, and '48 decides that they like the nick name.
#hangar rats#'48 is extremely adoptable#all sources agree#ship mechanics#hangar#clone culture#coruscant guard#world building#clone wars#starwars#may or may not be inspired by getting told someone was super happy that I'd be the new hangar rat
