And this is why im currently in physical therapy, I have to go through this hell before being sent to a different specialist for what's probably neuropathy. Fun times!
A personal disabled rant incoming. TW for fitness talk and attendant ableism
I mean no offense kinese majors or physical therapy professionals in general. some of their cohorts, though, should be named and shamed for how little effort they make to understand the ways various "common" conditions make it genuinely very difficult to "jUsT Do iT LiKe mE."
it's really easy for a random person with a kineseology degree and a personal preference for physically demanding hobbies to come online and say, like, "a n ybody who w a n t s to improve their mobility ab so lu te ly will!"
Spoilers: this is not a true fact. it's l o t s of cripples out here, Carol, and even though a lot of us do exercises regularly, it does not mean we are ImPrOvInG.
it means we've been told we have to do it or a doctor will lecture us about "noncompliance."
Carol, I know you don't know, so I'll tell you: a doctor who calls a cripple "noncompliant" is making a threat.
the threat is: either you, a cripple with known pain and mobility impairments, cause yourself more pain and pay for the privilege of having a distracted, young, fully abled PT tech tell you that you're doing it wrong, or your doctor will ban you from their practice and report you to other doctors in the area as A Problem.
focus up, Carol. if you, a cripple, are A Problem, it means other doctors are less likely to treat you appropriately, even when given evidence that what you say is the issue actually is the issue.
and, as a cripple, I think it's profoundly unfair that Carol with a general kineseology degree has more influence on my doctor's view of me and my CoNdItIoN than I do.

I hope your comfort food stops producing dopamine. The horror.
Conventional threats like “hope you rot” or “burn in hell” are boring, cliche, likely to not happen.
Unconventional Threats with a slim or likely chance of happening like,
“I hope the next time you go buy your comfort food, it’s sold out”
Groundbreaking.

You did not have to come after my early twenties dating life that damn hard.
As a girl, the best way to be autistic is to be palpable. Your autism must present as quirky, ditzy and eccentric. Your autism must present as, finding funky cloths at the op shop and patting street cats, never as bluntness and limited need to social and physical relationships, never as blind rage meltdowns, never as life debilitating sensory issues. You must be fragile but not difficult. Strange but not weird. Have a layed back look and hobbies but never be ugly.
Every romantic relationship your in must be a saviour mission, you teach him how to use basic human decency because of your righteous sense of justice, teach him how to get out of the house but let your social battery be perfectly in line with his to further his plot, be into all his “boyish” hobbies while he neglects all your interests so that he doesn’t have to think too hard about a anniversary gift.
And when you do melt down, stim, advocate, info dump. Step out of your manic pixie dream girl box then you are thrown to the curb over the next chronically anxious autistic that gets accidentally wisked up into a one sided relationship.

"The gap between high-functioning and low-functioning Autistic people is too wide. This is why they need to be two separate diagnoses."
There is no gap, there are people there.
There is no gap, there are people there.

There is no gap, there are people there.
There is no gap, there are people there.

MSN Autistic people exist. Separating the spectrum is to leave us behind. Stop forgetting about us.

"autistic people need instructions for every simple task" okay how about we talk about the neurotypicals not following clear instructions. what do you mean it didn't work the way you wanted, i gave you the instructions. oh you didn't follow them? you didn't see where i clearly indicated the directions you were supposed to follow for this task? and you're shocked it didn't turn out right? you decided to pull a Jared I'm 19 and go rogue? you're surprised the road less travelled isn't fucking paved because no one travels it? do you get off on this

Pretty sure my PT is gonna make me do some of these soon so saving for future watching.
From the OP: "If you sit at a desk or stare at your phone all day, this is for you. Here's how to undo the damage: - Banded Chin Tucks - Strengthen your neck flexors and fight forward head posture - Banded Pull-Aparts - Target your rotator cuff and improve shoulder stability - Banded Abduction - Activate the midline of your scapula for better posture - Lateral Deltoid Raises - Build shoulder stability and control - Banded Up-and-Overs – Boost scapular mobility and range of motion These simple banded drills will help you stand taller, move better, and feel stronger - even after hours at a desk."
Some of these are the same or similar to the exercises my physical therapist taught me.
