Got someone on Twitter to send me leaks of the MHA exhibit art and fear avoided, the composition of their image still sucks, they only take up about half the image, but Tokoyami is definitely the focus, he's way bigger than Hawks.

I just think it's kind of lame that all the other characters' art is like FULL body or highly focused on them and really shows them off, while the majority of Tokoyami's pic is the building he and Hawks are standing on...

Like for a man who said he liked drawing Tokoyami scenes he sure as shit doesn't seem to actually like drawing Tokoyami.

The more I think about the Tokoyami and Hawks picture that Hori drew the more terrified I am that Hawks is the focus of the picture and not Tokoyami despite the fact the images are mostly highlighting the students because I would not put it past him to use their image to once again play to Hawks' popularity, thus giving me Tokoyami but in the most 'fuck you' way possible that I'm used to.

Like Tokoyami may be in this picture but he is so very clearly not the highlight, he's made as small as possible compared to Hawks' more dynamic pose. His face is turned away so you can barely see it, while Hawks gets this amazing full view of his laugh, he looks great and is absolutely the draw of this picture.

Last post but I think the thing I hate the most about MHA and Horikoshi as a writer is simply the fact he's a coward. He was a coward for not letting any of his main villains be saved despite making the entire last few arcs asking if they should be and he was a coward about his series main couple. He didn't want a Naruto or Bleach situation but still managed to have a shitty waring fandom that controls his revenue because despite saying he didn't care about romance he still included it. When he could have just not. Like if it was THAT much of an issue don't have your main girl develop feelings in the first place. Don't have multiple characters bring it up through every arc, don't let it be the main conflict of her fights with her only villain counterpart, when she had other character elements, like being from a low-income family and wanting to be a hero for financial reasons. Or actually doing something about the ''who saves heroes'' thing that didn't just get reduced to society's support saves them.

It really was that simple. And if the issue of ''it's set in high school and kids have crushes!'' you could have applied that to your side characters. Plenty of people would have been just as content clinging to side ships (which they do, including me) and ignore your MC not having one if that's really how they get their kicks when reading a shounen. And he had ample freedom with a class of 20 fucking students (and other classes), it was his fault if he only had 6 girls vs 14 boys in class A so the balance was fucked.

It's just so stupid to me that here he is being like ''I wanted to avoid making my series about romance and didn't want fans to focus on that'' but then STILL INCLUDED IT. And he has NO control over how fans react to things so he was delusional to think he would avoid that. Was he just tuned the fuck out of fandom spaces for other series? Is he not aware of how merch sales work for other popular shounen? As a self-proclaimed fan of Kishimoto and Oda? Am I expected to buy that he was just SO unaware, but now not only is he fully aware, but he embraces it because the extra content for MHA, especially with merch, plays into this unashamedly? You can't complain about shipping and then embrace that shipping is the main reason behind sales. Because if it was about characters the series has a lot and most of them don't get fucking SHIT for merch or any additional content (as I constantly complain about as a Tokoyami fan, who IS relatively popular enough to sell merch! So fuck you!!!!!)

It's just so annoying. Even Oda has made it apparent Luffy is not in love with anyone, he hasn't called him asexual, but he's heavily implied it, but that doesn't stop people from shipping him with every character in the series. But Oda doesn't then bend and break for his fandom either. Whereas Horikoshi does, because he's a coward.

The fact that shippers are literally online fighting right now because they have two wildly different interpretations of his vague ass answer is all you need to know. It's a simple question and he can't answer it because he's too afraid of the backlash from either side. Are they a couple? Yes or no. Did they get together? Yes or no. Are they currently together? Yes or no. So many variants of the question. And yet, for some reason, he can't just answer yes or no, he has to say some bullshit thing like ''they have something greater than love'' and he's such an annoying ass COWARD.
