«What’s wrong with you?» yells the boy in front of the closed – locked – door. He stands there for another couple of minutes, then turns to look at you with a frown. «I’m sorry,» he says.

«What for?» you reply, smiling slightly, «I guess your friends had the same stupid idea as mine.»

«Did they lock you up here too?»

«Why else would I be in the boys’ toilets?» you chuckle with a shrug.

«Well, I guess my friends aren’t as original as they think they are then,» he continues, scratching the back of his head, clearly embarrassed. «I’m Shotaro, by the way.»

«I’m y/n, and I think we should either convince our friends to let us out or find a way to escape.»

He smiles at you enough to reassure you that he isn’t some creepy or dangerous guy. Once you establish that he is to be trusted – at least in the situation you find yourself in – you leave your spot at the corner and reach him in front of the door. «Any idea on how to do either of them?»

He frowns again, probably because he’s just recognized the laugh of one of his friends from the other side of the door. He then does a little pout that makes you smile unconsciously, and you find yourself thinking how cute he is and how come you have never noticed him before. “That’s because you don’t notice any boy at all,” says a voice in your head that sounds too similar to Giselle’s, and that causes you a mental facepalm. «My friends aren’t that easy to convince, above all if they’re doing this for a reason?» he says, interrupting your thoughts.

«What could be the reason for locking you in the toilets?»

«I don’t know. What could be the reason why your friends locked you up here?»

«They just seem to love pulling pranks on me. It's the second time they’ve locked me in the toilets!»

Shotaro’s eyes widen as he looks like he’s having a stroke of genius, like he’s suddenly thought about something important you can’t figure yet. «The second time, you say?»

You nod, confused.

«And what did you have to do to get out the first time?» he asks, but you still can’t understand how that will help you.

«Well, it might sound weird, but I had to text an unknown number written…»

«…on the toilet door,» he interrupts you, completing your sentence, and just like that, everything seems to make sense to you too. All the hints that were given to you, your friends’ latest weird cryptic tweets and their strange behavior… and then the way he looks at you, the words he uses, the sound of his voice… everything seems to be in place, and you can finally give a face to the unknown guy you’ve been talking to for weeks.

«No way,» you whisper, «are you… toilet number guy?»

«I guess I am, mystery girl,» he replies, and his smile becomes wider.

Your heart makes a sudden jump, and you can feel your legs shaking. You knew a lot about him, talked day and night about everything, and you couldn’t wait to meet him, imagining what it would be like to find out who he was and see him in person. Now that he’s here, right in front of you, your limbs are getting weaker and your brain blurred, something you’re sure has never happened to you before, and that scares you. «Why did I… how come… how is it possible? I mean I… I have never seen you here,» you stutter, then you have another flash of genius. «Does this mean our friends knew everything?»

«I don’t know your friends, but considering mine, that’s highly possible,» he says. You can’t obviously know this, but at this same moment, his heart is beating so fast he’s afraid you might hear it. If it weren’t for the dimmed lights of the toilets, you could have also seen his cheeks on fire. You both have so many things to tell each other, but you feel like saying nothing as if the silence is speaking for you. «Do you want to get boba after the match?» he asks you, and you can hear the distinctive sound of the door unlocking.

“Do you think it was too much?” Ningning asks you, looking at your friend from afar.

The show hasn’t started yet, and the three of you decided to get yourselves something to drink before your favorite band gets on stage. More and more students began entering the large room when all of a sudden, Giselle left you and started wandering among the crowd, a cup of coffee in her hand and an intensely focused stare as if she was looking for something important, vital almost. Or someone.

“I don’t know,” you reply, sipping from your own cup of coffee, “she doesn’t seem mad, though.”

You’re wondering what got into your best friend’s head, walking around the room and staring at people like she was some sort of guard.

“Maybe she’s just looking for Yuto,” Ningning adds with a smirk, and you give her a harmless slap on her shoulder, rolling your eyes.

“Maybe we should give her a break. She gets seriously pissed whenever we talk about him.”

“Yeah, that’s because she likes him, but he has a girlfriend!” your friend exclaims, sure of her words. “Look, speak of the devil…”

At that right moment, you can see Yuto entering the room hand in hand with a tall, beautiful brunette girl, followed by their respective groups of friends. You immediately turn your eyes to Giselle, catching her staring at the couple, her cheeks as red as the bandana you’re wearing. A few seconds go by, and everyone’s lost in the crowd again, including your friend.

“Should we go get her?” you suggest, and Ningning nods in agreement, holding your hand before slaloming among all those people, knowing very well you don’t like crowded places that much. Before you can reach Giselle though, you notice someone else has preceded you, and your friend seems now engaged in a pretty heated conversation.

You and Ningning exchange a confused yet amused look when you hear a “douchebag!” coming from Giselle’s mouth before she turns around and walks to you. “He’s such a douchebag!” she repeats, throwing her hands in the air.

“What did he tell you?” you ask, peeking over your best friend’s shoulder to see an astonished Yuto looking at her one last time and then going back to his girlfriend.

“You really did make yourself pretty for me,” Giselle mocks his voice. “Then I told him he has a girlfriend and that I don’t wanna be bothered, and do you wanna know what his reply was??”

Both you and Ningning look at her in amusement, knowing she will continue her story even without your answer. “Your tweets tell me otherwise,” she says, mocking his voice again. Before she can complain any further, though, someone dims the lights, and the host of the night, another Transfer Student who likes to be called Hendery, makes his appearance on stage.

“Welcome home everybody!” he yells with his loudest voice, but you aren’t able to listen to anything else of what he’s saying, as Giselle is now poking your shoulder, whispering something to your ear.

“Can you please complain about Yuto later? The show is about to begin!”

“I’m not complaining about Yuto! I asked you if you know if your Toilet Number Guy is here!” she replies, raising her voice so that you can hear her better.

“I think so? I mean, he told me he would come, so I guess he is here now!”

“Text him!”

“Why?”

“To ask him if he’s actually here!” she says, turning to look at the crowd around her. “Just do it!” she adds, perceiving your hesitation.

You take your phone out of your pocket and, as you go to his chat to type your message, you notice that Giselle’s looking at someone in particular, even if you can’t tell who, as there are too many people around you.

“I did it!” you let her know, and she nods with an oddly satisfied look on her face. “I know.”

Her strange behavior throws you off, but that doesn’t last long since you can clearly recognize the voice of the Dream Band’s main singer, Lee Haechan, coming from the stage. A deafening roar comes from the crowd as they start playing their first song, that brand new one they were talking about, and all your thoughts disconnect for a moment.

“Wherever you are, I can find you”.
