monsters and animals
there are an unfathomable amount of monsters in the world of aesura. some are more prominent in certain lands, others roam everywhere. this is the masterlist of monsters, by continent.
HALISPAR
many like to laugh at the valiant city for the minimal amount of monsters, but anywhere outside of the city is likely to be infested with much more than simple rats and roaches. goblins are known to scout the forests, and even have small civilizations/encampments. there are also frost trolls that can be seen wandering around the more mountainous areas of the north, as well as the legend of giants that the northmen breed with. down south, there are plenty of scorpions, snakes, lizards, and a strange legend known as the bastetbkau that has the body of a leopard, and the neck and tail of a serpent. as for regular animals, halispar is prominent with deer, squirrels, goat, birds, cattle, horses, sheep, wolves, coyotes, bears, and other wildlife and domestic animals, as well as insects.
EASTWOOD
much like the people, the monsters of eastwood are just as bull-headed and stubborn. the naga and basilisk monsters are known to be deep in the underground tunnels, though they usually don’t mettle with others unless provoked. they are said to be descendants of dragons, and some even claim that dragons are still alive. however, they haven’t been seen since the last dragon was slain in 1460 ALS. goblins are also pretty common, though not as common as in halispar. also, there are the common rattle snakes, tarantulas, lizards, and other smaller (but possibly poisonous) creatures. because of their rocky climate, they have many goats, horses, lynx, hawks, centipedes, mountain lions, and other wildlife.
EANNA
there aren’t many common wildlife creatures in eanna. most magic has spread to the animals living there, thus creating this strange, off-brand versions of halispar creatures (such as one-eyed lizards, two-headed goats, and other obscure deformities). this can end up impacting their farming, which is why they trade with hogaku. they have something known as gros oiseau, literally translating to “big bird.” they are rather large (about the size of a bald eagle) frost-phoenix(ish) creatures. there are only a few of them, but they can be a threat to travelers when they sound their shriek. there is also the legend of anguille froide, a large frost dragon that is said to be the true “last dragon”, however nobody has seen him.
PAS D’HIVER
the continent is filled with a lot of different creatures and wildlife, especially with the lack of industrialization. squirrels, rabbits, fox, deer, and other common wildlife can be found there. the continent doesn’t really have many strange creatures, save from these spiritual wisps known as aerañ touseg, or just “aertou” for short. they are magical whisps, similar to the wisps from james camerons avatar, that float around at night. the suiner connect them to liena and their ancestors that are coming down to visit them, or the spirits of animals. recently, there has been sightings of a large monster that has no name. apparently, it’s supposed to be deadly.

rules

BASICS
triggers
this roleplay will contain very sensitive themes such as (but not limited to): extreme violence (towards both children and adults), swearing, sexual or domestic violence, genocide, war, death, gore, racism against fantasy creatures, slavery of fantasy creatures, drug use, etc. it can be comparable to game of thrones. even if some of these things may only be briefly gone over or pop up in just the lore, this will not be a light-hearted roleplay in general. i don't want anybody to be upset in this environment, so if you aren't comfortable with any of the topics mentioned or anything similar, this roleplay isnt for you. that being said, none of this will be used outside of the roleplay and if there is any disrespect or bullying, i will not hesitate to ban you. also, i’d prefer if everyone here is 18+, as a lot of the content is for a more mature audience, but i have no way of officially gatekeeping everyone’s age. no smut in the group at all, take it to pms or a private group.
respect everyone
i dont care if your character's a dick, you better not be.
lines and posting
descriptive only. five lines minimum. there's no maximum but try not to write the entire great gatsby. i don't care about formatting or punctuation because i know there's aesthetics and all of that. honestly, just try to match whoever you're roleplaying with so they have something to go off of. try to make it legible lol.
character limit
character limit is four for now, try to make genders even.
CHARACTERS
faceclaims
faceclaims should be semi-realistic digital art or realistic. no anime, cartoons, or self-drawn faceclaims.
originality
there shouldn't be any canon characters. if i find out you've stolen somebody else's character, i will immediately ban you. don't make a carbon copy of daenerys targaryan because you can't think of something original.
forms
no pre-made forms please. the one i have is pretty simple and it's best not to spoil everything about your character. plus, it'll be put into the tumblr page and i'd rather not have to fish out information in an extremely detailed form.
ROLEPLAY
lore
lore-breaking is an absolute no-no, but i am very flexible and i don't mind lore-bending here and there. make sure to try and read the lore at some point, so you have the basic idea of the world. or read it periodically. or read it when it matters in the roleplay for you. doesn't really matter to me. adding to this, you can really just add shit if you want to. you can honestly do whatever you want and i probably won’t care as long as it doesn’t break the lore. want to have your character spot a platoon of soldiers marching down the streets, or a guard harassing a nameless civilian? go for it. or maybe they see a ruckus caused by some drunkard dwarven npc? do it. if you’re playing the king, you need to stay in his character. he is a power-hungry tyrant, and you can write whatever you feel you need to write in order to display him as such. make this world feel alive.
god-modding and op characters
i'm all for creative liberty, but making almighty characters with no flaws is both boring and frustrating to deal with. unless they're meant to be a powerful villain, your character should have a decent amount of flaws and weaknesses.
death of characters
your characters CAN die. i'm giving you guys free rein and i trust that you understand realistic scenarios. deaths can be discussed and premeditated by the character admins, but they can also just happen. if you're trying to start a fight with a battle-practiced theikos and you're a tiny lil thing with no experience in battle, don't expect to win. your choices will have consequences, including death.
plotting
feel free to plot in the oorp chat or in pms. let me know if it's something that could impact the main story or something that's generally a big deal. i'm honestly down for all of that so if you wanna do some big campaign or some shit, even if it might change the main story a bit, i'll probably say yes lmao.
overall, just have fun. that's what roleplay is about. if you find that you're too busy or you aren't enjoying the roleplay anymore, just shoot me a message so i can free up your spot and let somebody else in. if you're inactive for more than a week without notifying me, your spot will be removed. rules will be added as seen fit. if you read this, tell me your name, pronouns, and link an advertisement in the rules page on quotev. you can just move on to spots after, no need to wait on me.

setting and plot
SETTING
the roleplay is set in the fantasy realm of aesura, a beautiful (but dangerous) world filled with eight continents (including the disappearing continent of gha’alia) and seven known races: halispar, home to the humans, eastwood, home to the dwarves, rha'ka, home to the theikos, eanna, home to the druiner, pas d'hiver, home to the suiner, and the unknown continent of gha'alia, home to the gha'alian, and hogaku, home to the atsuhiro.
unsurprisingly, each of these continents holds its own culture, laws, and regulations. what is proper in one continent may be completely improper in another. travelers should be wary of these, lest they find themselves in immense trouble.
PLOT
currently, a war consumes the land. recently passed king caine of halispar left behind a startling declaration of war towards the druiner of eanna. before his untimely death, he captured many druiner soldiers as prisoners of war. now dead, his son, the newly-crowned king, has a lot of choices to make regarding not only the threat of a druiner invasion looming but also the strange disappearances of multiple ships out at sea, and a newly-rising freedom-fighter assassin guild known only as “we.”
the new king differs little with his father. he holds an immense hunger for power, and will stop at nothing to see eanna on its knees. his informants have learned of an ancient secret about the druiner; that their silver blood holds many magical properties. this could be the key to victory for halispar, if the king plays his cards right.
the war has each continent pitted against the other. halispar and eastwood are allied (as they have been for centuries), making them both primary targets for eanna. both eanna and pas d'hiver refuse to ally with each other, not just due to their previous civil war but also because of pas d'hiver’s reluctance to involve themselves with petty politics.
