ꕥ POKEMON CENTERS & HOSPITALS
Pokemon Centers are nonprofit facilities around the world that focus on general healthcare treatment for pokemon. Many also double as Poke Marts and hotels for traveling trainers, where they offer lodgings able to be rented. Whatever additional services a Center may offer depends on the region / location.
Pokemon Hospitals are relatively the same, except they handle far more serious medical concerns for pokemon - some that may require surgery or other complex procedures. They typically do not have lodgings for trainers, but they do have Day Cares where pokemon patients stay for observation.
While a trainer must pay pokedollars to rent a lodge in Centers or to buy supplies from a Mart, they and Pokemon Hospitals receive their primary income strictly from voluntary donations. It is never required for anyone to pay any amount of money to have their pokemon receive medical care, no matter how simple or complicated.
Should someone find themselves needing to pay a fee, it is highly likely that they are at risk of being scammed or their pokemon being stolen. Care should always be taken, and research should be done, on any unfamiliar Center or Hospital before visiting it.

ꕥ TRAINER CARDS
It is required by law within most regions that if a person is to own and train pokemon, that they be a registered Trainer and have a legitimate Trainer Card. It functions as a form of ID that Pokemon League officials and authorities can use for the individual, while also serving as a license.
An individual is able to apply for and eventually obtain a Trainer Card in any Pokemon Center, though certain regions may have specific buildings for Trainer registration instead. The regulation varies based on region and may allow exceptions, but the youngest a person is able to obtain a Trainer Card is on average 10 years old.
If someone has pokemon but does not have a legit Trainer Card, they are not allowed to partake in official events held by any Pokemon League or any subsidiaries of one - including challenging Pokemon Gyms. Gyms and other places typically do checks and prevent those lacking a legit Trainer Card from progressing, but sometimes, people are able to get by the check in someway.
If they're discovered afterwards, it will result in them being removed from the premises and getting a hefty fine or even imprisoned, depending on the region and its own rules. Many people out in the world keep pokemon as mere companions or pets, which a Trainer Card is not required for.

ꕥ RENTAL POKEMON
Rental Pokemon exist as a method of restricted battling in certain facilities across regions, where a format is intended to be difficult for the fun of challengers. Rentals are specifically trained by facility staff to obey any trainer they're assigned to, and as such, have overall mild or docile temperaments (not reflected in actual natures) - especially in species where individuals are often naturally aggressive.
While uncommon, it's not unheard of for a Rental to bond with a temporary trainer so much, to where the trainer is allowed to purchase them from the facility to keep.

I am a massive Milo/Valerie shipper (I call their pairing "FairyBloomShipping"), and I will be shameless with posting fanwork of them here. Why do I ship them? TLDR: Around when Milo was first revealed back in June 2019, I utterly fell in love with him. I was rping Valerie too, and I had the realization that they could be very cute together.
Later when they revealed more info on Milo's personality (he being a warm, nurturing person who's an honest hard worker in being a trainer and running a farm), it solidified that in my head. The dynamic of Valerie being like a "high class" lady with Milo who people would probably say is "out of her league" feeds into it too - because Val for sure doesn't care about any of that. Her man is perfect the way he is.
(Their height difference is nice as well. Even without wearing her platform shoes, Val has a few inches above Milo. He's a short king.)

Rayquaza, Groudon, and Kyogre were born of chaos - the earth undergoing drastic changes as it continued to evolve. While Rayquaza kept to the skies, flying endlessly whilst consuming meteorites that rained down onto the planet's surface, Groudon and Kyogre laid in a dormant state.
Their first awakening came with an eruption of energy from the Earth's core, that combined with the Vitae Aura which perpetually undulated throughout the world. Ravenous for this energy, the two entities at their most powerful would clash violently, purely driven by the primal instinct to consume all of the natural energy. Their bouts would always end in a stalemate, with both sides running out of stamina and falling dormant once more.
This cycle continued, on and off, over the course of millions of years. Simple lifeforms would flourish in the periods of peace, but thousands would be lost upon the awakening of Groudon and Kyogre, as their fighting brought immense destruction to the planet's surface and to underground domains. During one age where lifeforms had become far more advanced, humans and pokemon having diverged to become their own separate species, Rayquaza chose to descend from the sky to silence the two - preventing another global tragedy & the regression of life.
One tribe of humans in the soon to be named Hoenn region witnessed this event, and begun to worship Rayquaza as a god, believing it to be earth's peacekeeper who lived in the heavens. Groudon and Kyogre's next awakening happened much sooner, only a few centuries after the previous, due to another high surge of natural energy. The tribe in Hoenn, remembering the tales their ancestors passed down of their Dragon Lord, would earnestly call for Rayquaza to stop Groudon and Kyogre once more. The great dragon descended, but this time, took on an entirely new form gained from the people's collective wish.
Rayquaza subdued the ancient beasts using this new albeit temporary power, and returned to roaming the skies. It is believed that Rayquaza weakened Groudon and Kyogre considerably, but in truth, the event brought Xerneas forth. The two violent beasts had their primal force stripped away by Xerneas, who crystalized it into colored orbs, which were left in the Hoenn region. Groudon and Kyogre fell back into a long slumber, remaining dormant for the next thousand or so years, until the present era where two organizations in Hoenn sought their abilities for their own goals.

This is a long message copy-pasted from discord with some slight tweaking, of an overview regarding my creation / origin of life myth that's the backbone of my pokemon world's setting. I'll have to edit this info into being coherent for some bio pages hmmm.
Xerneas wasn't created directly by Arceus, instead born upon Giratina lashing out and injuring Arceus' physical form. Arceus' bled, and its ichor found its way to a young earth, where it touched the barren soil and transformed into a seed.
A tree grew: "Vitae Arbor". From its roots continuously came the first cellular organisms, and from its branches came an aura - "Vitae Aura" - that spread around the world. Vitae Aura interacting with the atmosphere and earth gave life to them, in the forms of Rayquaza and Groudon respectively. Kyogre was born when the First Rain began to fall, and with it came the formation of the Earthen Trio. Arceus had been observing earth all this time, and decided to intervene in the sense of not letting anymore lifeforms like the Earthen Trio be eternal like it & Xerneas.
So it created Yveltal, introducing the concept of perpetually-looming death into the multiverse, and Zygarde - who would bind to the earth & bring order should the balance teeter in one direction or the other. Xerneas in a form familiar to humans today would emerge from Vitae Arbor. Together, they formed the Mortality Trio.
As the earth evolved with the Earthen Trio's slow maturity over the course of countless years, the various lifeforms evolved with it & became more complex. Arceus soon created Mesprit, Uxie, and Azelf to form the Consciousness Trio (Lake Guardians): introducing the concept of spirit. Complex lifeforms developed their own free wills, and gained the ability to make their own choices. Aka, to self-govern themselves. New life born would fall under the newly established umbrella.
Terapagos and Mew are the earliest of the complex lifeforms and ones that remained fairly stagnant, in part due to their extremely long lifespans. Other creatures suffered mass extinction events due to Ice Ages, the cycles of Yveltal's physical form, and Groudon along with Kyogre's chaotic periods of fighting. Life that survived continued to gradually evolve, forming the early ancestors of humans and pokemon respectively.
I have a side lore branch where Vitae Aura has anomalous effects, and it mutated some organisms, resulting in the creation of fae. Arceus feared how they would upset the very sensitive balance earth had at that time, so it banished them to a parallel dimension (like how it did Giratina), leading to fae not being humans or pokemon: instead the "third" / "forgotten" species. Fairy pokemon are the "descendants" of fae who managed to escape back to earth millennia ago, though some creatures are able to become "fae-touched" and adopt fairy-like characteristics from interacting with & being mutated by a fae's energy.
But all of that is the gist of earth's early history with life. At the time of this post's publish date, I haven't decided how every single legendary has been created or made in this timeline, yet Xerneas is for sure responsible for the majority of them - either directly or indirectly (via Vitae Aura). Arceus in reality only created a handful of them, but its creations - including Xerneas - are arguably the most important / powerful of the pantheon.

#𝐀𝐀𝐏𝐎𝐂𝐑𝐘𝐏𝐇𝐀𝐋 - adjective*(of a story or statement) of doubtful authenticity, although widely circulated as being true.
This is a worldbuilding and musing hub for the Pokemon franchise, as I love its in-universe setting dearly. The mod's name is Nebula / Neb. My main account is @nebulousjoy. I build off of gamecanon as I'm most familiar with the games, but I do like acknowledging some interesting tidbits found in the anime.
I once heavily participated in the pokemon roleplay community here on tumblr, and you can find information on exactly what characters I use as muses for my works currently on my google site linked below. You'll find that many of them are Legendaries, but I do have some humans / pokemon trainers as well. I like building off of canon or deviating entirely; I hope what I post is enjoyable to see.
★★ I'll be hosting my headcanons, fanfic works, and art here primarily - but this also functions as an Ask blog! If you like, you can send questions to any character I have and they'll be answered in-character from their perspective.
(I won't be doing the traditional Ask blog routine where I draw up responses because I don't have enough energy & motivation for that, but they'll still be answered nonetheless!)
