Last night's effort 2 week pose, oil on canvas 24in X 20in. It was actually a 3 week pose but I had left the painting in my studio/garage and it was so cold that it wasn't dry by the second week. Second pass on this 2 pose portrait. On the first pass I talked about how much I liked the new ground that I had used on the canvas. This week the subject will be adapting to changes. As you might be able to tell there are some pretty big differences between last weeks painting and this one. The main one is that someone replaced the lightbulb in the spotlight I was using to light the model. This will happen from time to time in shared spaces. Luckly the new bulb was great, very bright and a nice temperature. The second and more minor was the model changed the color of her hair. Both of these changes were easily incorporated and honestly I feel had a dramatically positive impact on the painting. That being said I feel lucky that the changes were easy to handle. I haven't really used this way of painting for quite a few years, it was fun.
