Just thinking about what people call HIM
His father and L.J. call him Leroy, as does the rest of Stillwater
Shannon is the first to call him Gibbs and continues to their whole relationship
Many Marines and other people affiliated with the armed forces still call him Gunny years after active duty
including Mike Franks, who also calls him Probie, as well as others from his NIS days like Vera who still calls him that 22 years later
Diane brings back Leroy, whereas Rebecca seems to be the only one who has used J as a nickname
Ducky largely addresses him as Jethro, sometimes changing to his surname when referencing him to others
Jenny Shepard, Stephanie Flynn, Ellen Wallace, and Hollis Mann all go for Jethro, all women he had relationships with but he met at or through work (Ducky recounts introducing Stephanie to him and now they no longer speak)
Some people opt for the more formal Special Agent Gibbs and even Sir, like Jimmy Palmer or Dorneget when they're feeling especially intimidated or deferential (Special mention for the one time Abby called him Ma'am)
Phineas committed to Jethro Gibbs every time, matching with how he first introduced himself
Tony and McGee are partial to Boss but by the end it's truly become a term of endearment rather than any reference to hierarchy
While the three women on the team default to Gibbs in each of their era - Ziva calls him Boss the least, Kate in the middle, with Ellie most and she clearly picked up the habit from DiNozzo and Tim
Most recently we've learned about Ruth, Leroy's best friend (declared by her) and big sister (declared by him) , who first read his name in a newspaper and later off a lease
"You can call me anything you want"

Back on this discontinued sideblog because it's where the NCIS fandom knew to follow me and I have something to say-
IF YOU'RE NOT WATCH ORIGINS - START WATCHING IT
You've only got ten episodes to catch up on and I'd stake my "I've-been-watching-the-mothership-since-I-was-seven" reputation on you liking every single one of them
IF YOU'RE ALREADY WATCHING ORIGINS - START POSTING, START CREATING
Seriously. I follow the tag and check it religiously. I will show up for you*
*it'll just be from @slippery-soapbox now

Everyone needs a code they can live by.
That's what Shannon said the day she introduced herself to Gibbs, the day she was the first person to call him Gibbs.
Everyone needs a code they can live by. Everyone needs a person to live for, to do better for.
For fourteen year Leroy had his mother.
Next Gibbs had Shannon, the Marine Corp, and eventually Kelly.
And then suddenly he had none of them. Within the year he has Mike Franks, NCIS, and the rest of this team we're getting to know. But before that, before he becomes Gibbs again, Probie, Special Agent, he's just Leroy again.
He's Leroy to Ruth. He's Leroy on a lease, across a kitchen table, in a shoebox's worth of letters. For six months he had someone he told all his secrets to. Everything that comes after, every case solved, every life saved, is thanks to her. He wanted those two months with her, she wanted him to have years after her. Ruth, his big sister, his best friend.

To me, building a boat serves as a metaphor for having a plan for your life — having a future, having a project, having something that wakes you up in the morning. Something that you can use to protect yourself from the world, and something you can bring somebody else in. Something you can use to relax in, something you can use to get away. But this feeling of having a salvation — knowing that no matter what happens, I have this person with me. I'm building this boat, I'm building this future and no matter how stormy it gets, how high the river gets, I will have a way out of it now that I have this person and this positive in my life.

So I have this idea.
Does anyone remember the episode of Castle titled Still? For those that don't know it came out about a year after Beckett and Castle got together and the concept is that Kate is stuck on a motion sensor bomb and so to keep her distracted Castle teases her about how she totally fell for him first. They bicker about it and ask their coworkers for input on who loved who first. But the fun part is they keep playing montages of jealousy and hijinks and softness from earlier seasons.
Okay now here comes the actual idea.
Buddie.
A Buddie "Still" episode. For whatever reason Buck and Eddie are debating some bit of their history after they're together and clips play but- get this- they're all deleted scenes.
Filmed scenes we didn't get in the original run because the writers decided they would show their hand too much. That it's too obvious. Scenes like Eddie talking to Chim after seeing Buck's black eyes. Eddie bringing Hoover to Buck's apartment. Buck and Eddie working on the treasure hunt. Buck and Eddie in the car together. Buck and Eddie co-parenting Chris. etc etc

The thing I admire about louis’ queerness is it’s elegance. That quiet strength that only the few will see and understand. A silent ode to a past language, the sexyness of an ankle triangle, the evolution of his own piece of merch. Little nods to the culture and the struggle, and the much much more importart atmosphere that Louis/Louies create: I see you, you are safe here to be whoever the fuck you want to be.
Omg I want to print this ask and hang it on my fucking wall. That’s it.
