While selah was gone, he still ran back to Mary every time and it hurt more then she’d admit. “We can’t keep doing this. What about Thomas ? You have a family that needs you and your reputation.”

“I... Son... Sprout, I’m proud of you, I am. But surely enlisting is as good as a death wish.” Abraham said softly, looking his teenaged son in the face and thinking about where he was at his age. How he’d run around with Anna, and he’d secretly proposed only having to call it off for the sake of his family’s word. Out of Obligation. He looked down and away, then, a pang in his chest. It wasn’t this serious for him when he was a teenager. It was all a game... a prank. “But if you wish my support, you have it. You have my pride, son, and I love you.”

“I only wish to make you happy, father,” Thomas mused. He’s expected a joyous reaction to news that he had enlisted. Being a teen , he’s grown up with the stories of war all round him. His father was a hero in Washington’s army just like his uncles. There was never any choice in the path that he would take. America was a country that earned his life the day he was born. “This was for my honor as a son and to care on your legacy- why do you look as if I’ve told you that I’ve died? Please. I do not wish to hurt you so . There is no other path for a young woodhull.”

During a re-enactment, my father was shot and killed in the battle, so I flipped over the box I was sitting on, stood atop it, and sold my mother!

My friends idea of a good time is dressing up in colonial attire and pretending to beat each other up while similarly dressed colonial men jump around in the background waving fistfuls of cash

I feel like my life has reached a peak it’s all downhill from here

I do historical re-enactments in my free time. Tons of colonial guns, instruments, weapons In general, clothing, and many many props. Cause I’m lame like that.

Guys what if we produced our own turn spin off? But it’s just our fandom and Seth Numrich. He can join us. I have horses and can get my hands on some 18th century ships and small craft. If anyone can donate funds, props, colonial guns, costumes and their dignity I would appreciate it greatly.

Abraham didn’t want to look her in the face, but he knew he had to. And he knew he couldn’t lie, so he wouldn’t. Not anymore. “I’m sorry, Anna. I’ve left Mary, divorced. Or will be. Soon enough. I won’t be allowed to see my son. And... And I’ve joined the Brits. In an attempt at... an inside Spot for the cause. To get information from the source. And... I’ve lost everything. So... I’m sorry, that I’ve changed. That I’ve told you nothing. That I’ve pulled away and become a shell of the man you know. I feel like... Even this move will put me back on my arse. So if you must know, there.” He said, his face showing the true devastation he felt. “And all of it, I’m doing, because I feel the overwhelming need to protect my country and a married woman.” He says, before turning on his heel, beginning the long walk towards his home and the slaves quarters he’d claimed as his own because he gave Mary and Sprout the house. He didn’t deserve it when his son and soon to be ex wife did. He didn’t truly hate Mary, and he wouldn’t claim to. But it was a gentleman’s duty not to live a lie. Mary could happily marry some British solider or some American soldier as she pleased. Because the dishonor was all his.
