YESTERDAY, I CAME ACROSS A PHOTO OF CIVILIANS BEING DETAINED IN JABALIA, AND IT INSTANTLY BROUGHT ME BACK TO MY OWN PAINFUL EXPERIENCE JUST MONTHS AGO. DURING THAT TIME, I, TOO, WAS ARRESTED, MISTREATED, AND LEFT WITHOUT CLOTHING IN DECEMBER’S BITTER COLD. THOSE MONTHS WERE A TIME OF CONSTANT FEAR AND SUFFERING—A HARSH REALITY FACED BY MANY.

Compared to other fundraising campaigns, some of which started in the same month as mine and others after me, I raised 20,000 in 10 months, compared to other people who raised huge amounts of money, 50,000 and 100,000. A thousand and more of them, and unfortunately I do not know the reason for my campaign being so weak. Do they not trust me and my own campaign, even though I publish my daily life and my own photos, and I am also on the list of trusted people for more than one person? I deserve a lot of help, first because my family in northern Gaza is suffering from severe famine and I am far from them, and second because I need to recycle the tent in the winter. Part 2: An urgent plea for my friends in Gaza

I’ve known Abood (@aboodmush) since May of this year, working across platforms to promote his family’s evacuation campaign. For awhile he was able to encourage people to donate, either by documenting the genocide's effects on his loved ones, or marking clear milestones for the campaign's progress. But this movement has severely dwindled over the summer. The rate of donations has become very unpredictable, and Abood has only received 2 donations for the past 24 hours. So I’m humbly asking for you all for help him regain prior momentum.

If you read the description in Abood's GFM campaign (linked below), you'll find a detailed account of all sorts of horrors he's been exposed to since the genocide's escalation. He was left to fend for himself after being taken from his family in the Northern part of the strip and unlawfully detained for 25 days. He's survived massacre after massacre whilst grappling the struggles of homelessness. His best shot at surviving all of this has been this fundraiser, which aims to secure not only travel funds for the border's reopening, but also daily necessities for his family members at risk of starvation.

This man messaged me on Twitter asking me to reblog his fundraiser and I saw he had a new account, so I was a bit suspicious, and asked him to write my name in the sand outside the front of the tent he had in his photo to prove he was real and in Gaza. I didn't expect to hear anything else.

He did it. And in the recording he sent with it, you can hear the warplanes/drones overhead. He is in Gaza, he's real and he needs our help.

Here's his story:

I went from being a digital marketing student to an ice cream vendor due to the lack of job opportunities, then to a prisoner in the hands of the Israeli occupation forces. My name is Abdulrahman Mushtaha, a 21-year-old from Rafah city in southern Gaza Strip, where the Israeli occupation sent me after more than 25 days of detention. This might be just a number to you, but during this time, I experienced some of the worst forms of torture and humiliation from soldiers and recruits not older than twenty. All of this because of my nationality. Maybe I would have stayed in northern Gaza, enduring 100 days without seeing my mother's face, kissing my father's hand, or playing with my two-year-old nephew. 100 days without hugging my sister Heba, who is starving in northern Gaza due to the occupation army besieging their house for more than 50 days. Now, Abdulrahman is without university, without a job at the ice cream shop, and without shelter. Perhaps with your simple help, I can return to life? Perhaps your simple donation could be a chance for me to survive, if life remains, maybe with your help, I can save my mother, father, my nephew, and whoever is left of my family. Help me rebuild my life at my beautiful city that the occupation has turned into a ghost town.:
