Part 2/2
#OTD in 2014:
Ricky: “I just think that we need to take a giant step back here & just re-eval...”
Sharon: “Hold on. Before we go back I should clear up a misunderstanding that you have. I'm not asking your permission to adopt Rusty or Emily's permission. I see great things in this boy & I mean that from the bottom of my ever-so lonely heart.”
Ricky: “Come on Mom. You know that I didn’t mean loneliness as a criticism. I was only pointing out the fact...”
Sharon: “It's clear what you're pointing out. Now I'm pointing out to you. If you don't develop a little human compassion for this young man who grew up with none of the advantages you took for granted every day of your life then I'm gonna leave here wondering where I went wrong as a Mother.”
Ricky: “Mom. Mom, wait wait wait. Hang on. Look, I'm gonna have children one day. So is Emily. Do you really want your Grandkids calling that boy ‘Uncle Rusty’?”
Sharon: “That is a whole lot better than what I'm thinking of calling you right now.”
Ricky: “Mom!”
Sharon: “Richard William Raydor! You listen to me & you listen to me good. You've got one chance to get this right. You need to turn your attitude around right this minute. Because if you make Rusty feel unwelcome in this family after all of his & my hard work I will be just so... Disappointed. Oh my God! I am so disappointed in you right now, I don't even know what to say.”

Part 1/2
#OTD in 2014:
Ricky: “Morning, Mom.”
Sharon: “Morning, darling.”
Ricky: “Find your shooter?”
Sharon: “Our sniper, yes. As it turns out, he was the son of an Army Ranger. His Mother committed suicide. He's a very troubled young man.”
Ricky: “You're not gonna be adopting him, too, are you?”
Sharon: “Let's discuss this adoption because I feel your lack of enthusiasm from a great distance & I'd like to know what's that about?”
Ricky: “Okay. Right off the bat, I want you to know that I understand a lot of what you're going through. Dad was a letdown as a Husband. Emily left for New York to do her ballet thing. I left for Palo Alto. I don't make it home all that often. You work all the time. It's a recipe for loneliness. And Mom, I have a lot of sympathy for you on that score. And, also, you are incredibly giving & caring but Mom, that kid is a hustler & he's a con artist & I think that he's taken advantage of you. Look, you did so much for me. You were tough & honest when I needed it & now I need to do the same for you. I need to take the hit like you did & be the bad guy for a minute & step in to say this is not a good idea.”
Sharon: “May I ask, have you been talking with your Father about this?”
Ricky: “Yeah we talked a few times. I mean, he's worried about you. Mom, I'm worried about you. I am. Like, helping the kid a little bit, that's great but to make him legally your son.

#OTD in 2015:
Rusty: “But how can Gus be a witness in Al...in Mariana's murder? He wasn't even there.”
Sharon: “Gus is now the 1st person that Andrea will call to the stand.”
Rusty: “Why?”
Sharon: “Well he's the only one that can ID his sister. And after that Slider's Defence will demand to know why Mariana ran away from him in Vegas.”
Rusty: “And if he does that will the LAPD help him find his other sister, Paloma?”
Sharon: “Yes, if we can determine she's actually missing from somewhere. Come in.”
Robby: “The guy says he tried filing a missing-persons report on both sisters in Baltimore but he didn't have standing & then again in Vegas where he didn't have standing. I'm not quite sure how to file either unless we know this young girl went missing in LA. I ran Paloma Wallace through MUPS. No hits at all. So under normal circumstances I'd say the DA’s investigators should...”
Andrea: “I'm not spending a dime hunting down this Paloma girl until Gus answers my questions which so far he's refusing to do.”
Sharon: “Does he say why?”
Andrea: “Well, before he starts explaining everything I need to know he's demanding that we pay for Alice or Mariana, I guess, that we pay for her funeral.”
Rusty: “How much would that cost?”
Sharon: “Well, there's a State's Victim's Fund that will cover the first $2,000 of...”
Andrea: “No, no, no! Then he'll want us to put him up somewhere & find him a job. Not doing it. He gets zero support from the State until he gives me some answers.”
Andy: “Why don't I take him home with me? He lost his family. He feels guilty. I can relate to some of that. Maybe what he needs is a good dinner & a decent night's sleep.”
Andrea: “Do not volunteer to pay for the funeral or give him any money.”
Andy: “I'll just see what he wants. Oderno, you tell him to wait until you figure out a way that we can search for his sister? And Rusty, maybe you can keep Gus company until I'm done here today.”
Sharon: “Thank you, Andy.”
Rusty: “Yeah. Thanks, Lieutenant.”

#OTD in 2016:
Taylor: “Provenza not seriously wounded?”
Andy: “Only his pride.”
Sharon: “Thank God.”
Taylor: “Good. Good. Great job, Captain. Great job. And really good work keeping your personal & professional lives separate. It can't always be done.”
Sharon: “Oh. Actually, Chief, that may be about to be tested further.”
Andy: “Yeah. I put my house up for sale & we are planning on finding a place together.”
Taylor: “Wow! So you two are moving in together? Well, good luck with that.”
Rusty: “Hey, Mom... Oh. I'm sorry. Sorry.”
Taylor: “No, no. It's alright Mr Beck. I was just leaving. Let me know when you find Mr Downey.”
Sharon: “Will do.”
Rusty: “So, I was thinking about what you said, the whole not IDing a suspect with less than 12 points on a fingerprint thing?
Sharon: “You mean the LAPD policy?”
Rusty: “Yes. And I'm sure that you guys have a really good reasons for that, but I wonder in what Buzz put together of the fingerprint, does it have enough points for him to search for & ID a potential witness?”
Andy: “Hmm. That's another way of looking at it.”
Gus: “Which could have waited till tomorrow to discuss but hey.”
Sharon: “That request would have to come from Buzz.”
Rusty: “Well, I'll mention it to him.”
Gus: “Tomorrow. You'll mention it to him tomorrow morning.”
Rusty: “Right.”
Gus: “Bye, Sharon, Andy. You'll see him tomorrow morning. Won't you?”
Rusty: “Yeah. Okay.”
Gus: “And we're off. Have a good night, everybody.”
Sharon: “Night! Searching for a possible witness? He sounds less like a journalist & more like a lawyer.”
Andy: “Out of the frying pan.”
Sharon: “No! No!”

#OTD in 2011:
Sharon: “Do you recognise this place? Turell Baylor’s house, where you delivered him, unprotected, the day he died.”
Brenda: “It’s where Turell said he wanted to go.”
Sharon: “And that may get us out of criminal court but it may not work in your favour in front of a Jury of civilians. Come with me please. So, let’s walk through it. After you dropped Turell off, leaving him on his own, he ran into his house, locked the door & tried escaping through his backyard here. But he didn’t get very far. See? He broke free & tried to run but he was caught over here. And they dragged him across his driveway...to this wall where his head was smashed repeatedly until he was dead. You say your responsibility ended the moment Turell left your custody and the Warren Rule frees you from criminal liability, but in a civil trial the Jury may very well decide that you behaved with a callous disregard to the suspect's life & if the City Attorney starts to think that he's losing this case...”
Brenda: “He could settle.”
Sharon: “He could settle & leave you to take the blame & you will be entirely on your own.”
Brenda: “So, what should I do?”
Sharon: “For your own sake, GET YOUR OWN ATTORNEY.”

#OTD in 2013:
Jack: “I think that transgender kid was brave as hell. It took a lot of guts to live in the open like that and her Father deserves credit for having supported her.”
Rusty: “Her Father gave her dresses. He might as well have put a target on the back that said: ‘Beat Me.’”
Jack: “She asked for those dresses & I still say brave kid. Besides, it could be just as dangerous pretending to be somebody you're not. A lot of kids that repress that kind of feeling end up killing themselves. You can't hide who you are, as I'm sure you know.”
Rusty: “Sure I know what?”
Jack: “Well, as you know from...from being a foster child. Am I right, or am I right? Sharon, could that young lady have hidden her identity?”
Sharon: “From what I read, gender identity dysphoria in children is not a choice.”
Jack: “Pancakes?”
Sharon: “Oh, um, yes, thank you.”
Rusty: “She only wants one.”
Jack: “Who eats only one pancake?”
Rusty: “Uh, your Wife.”
Jack: “Uh-oh. Incoming.”
Rusty: “It's just Kris. We're reading ‘Romeo & Juliet’ right now. We both missed it in 9th Grade & I think it's making her emotional.”
Jack: “So, are you two dating now?”
Rusty: “No, no. We're just hanging out. I mean, I like her a lot, but it's...it's hard to date when I have to take a Police escort everywhere I go. Excuse me. You know what, I'm gonna need ten minutes.”
Sharon: “Uh, oh, you've got it.”
Rusty: “Okay, thanks.”
Jack: “I thought you told me he'd been hustling men on the street. Is he not gay?”
Sharon: “He hasn't told me anything about that & I am not asking.”
Jack: “Maybe he's confused. I could help him sort out his priorities.”
Sharon: “Listen, I only told you about the abuse that he went through so that you could be sensitive to his issues, not so that you could push him in one direction or the other.”
Jack: “I never push people.”
Sharon: “You spent virtually no time with our children when they were Rusty's age. Why are you so interested in him?”
Jack: “Look, I am brutally aware that I am not a good parent, Sharon, but it's not necessary to remind me every five minutes.”
Sharon: “Oh, it is.”
Jack: “Well, maybe I'm interested in the kid because you are.”
Sharon: “I wish that you would develop the same interest in finding yourself an apartment.”

#OTD in 2011:
Turell: 🔈”I killed those people.”🔈
Sharon: “So, after this interview you returned him home.”
Brenda: “At his request, yes.”
Sharon: “And you saw several people there, waiting for him.”
Brenda: “Define ‘several.’”
Sharon: “Did you think that they were members of his own gang, the 110 Crips?”
Brenda: “Just because they were African American doesn’t mean they were gang members.”
Sharon: “Did you know that there was a strong likelihood that after you dropped Mr Baylor off at his home he'd be beaten to death by his fellow Crips?”
Brenda: “I did not know that...but I do like happy endings.”
Sharon: “And that answer is exactly why we're not recording this interview. Calling Turell's murder ‘A happy ending’ is not something that you want a Jury to hear you say.”
Brenda: “Sure we do, after they see this interview with the so-called victim?”
Sharon: “After they see this interview they'll understand you were stuck with a confession of a brutal murder of an elderly man & his Grandchild that you couldn't use at trial & lacking legal recourse you dropped Turell Baylor off at his home where you knew he was likely to be executed. This interview is not your friend! It is your motive!”
Brenda: “Okay. So I need to find out where they’re going.”
Sharon: “And you will, after we finish. I’ve interviewed every member of your Division. I promise they are fully competent to handle whatever the world throws at them.”
Brenda: “You know, maybe it would help if you’d just tell me in simple English what it is you’re looking for.”
