I think I need serious help. I either barely eat or eat until I feel like I’m going to explode. My family bought 10 steaks today and I’ve already eaten 7 of them and I know that’s not healthy but I’m just still hungry. Not to mention I’ve also eaten a whole bowl of cereal and a bowl of ratatouille in the past three hours like,,, I’m an endless pit and I have extreme issues with that

Aaah. I haven’t posted here in literally years. Anyways.

Wanting representation in media is fucking awesome, but doing this kinda bothers me personally (I am literally a pan woman, too);

HC’ing literally every character in a cast as super duper gay isn’t a good thing every time. We are still a type of minority group and yes, straight people do make up a majority of the population of this world. It is not realistic that out of 50 characters only one is straight when it’s set in a high school or any other similar setting. Yes, it’s possible, but is it probable. Tell me you’ve been at school and known a majority of people at said school (not just your friends,) that are gay as fuck like us.

I personally think that because we haven’t been represented correctly in media that us trying to take over isn’t healthy either and that we need a good balance of Minority Characters/ Non-Minority Characters if it’s set that way. Obviously if it’s set in a place where a minority group will obviously outnumber the western standards of what a majority is, that means they will be more prevalent in the story, and they’ll be used more (which also makes them not the minority in terms of where the media is set.) You wouldn’t call a South African person who was born in South Africa with South African heritage, a minority in their own country.

Characters are allowed to be straight/white or whatever just as much as they’re allowed to be LGBT+/POC, and making characters ALL LGBT - especially if they have a confirmed sexuality - inherently hurts our community more than innocent headcanons.

Tl;Dr

Guys, please just balance out characters and flesh out worlds to be natural. I’m not saying don’t make headcanons or characters that are minorities, I’m saying that making literally every character a “Bisexual King/Queen/Monarch uwu soft cinnamon roll” ISNT REALISTIC MOST OF THE TIME.

That being said, I do respect criticism and replies ok this post and I’ll read what I can if I get any.

so i know molly is the darling of the fandom and this post might make people mad so let me just say first: i absolutely adore him. like i get it. everyone loves him for a reason: he’s super loveable. i just super wish people would explore his serious boundary/consent issues more in fics/meta/literally anywhere.

i’ve seen people talk about how fanon molly is super suave and smooth while canon molly is “a ten charisma character with a twenty charisma attitude”, but i’ve literally never seen anyone talk about this and i think it’s because people are uncomfortable. like it’s an uncomfortable thing, people don’t want to think about their fave being pushy or disrespectful but i think that also disregards his potential for growth.

when molly pinned caleb to the wall, i think most people took that as part of him just being super flirty/maybe being slightly oblivious to caleb’s discomfort. but tal said on talks that molly had noticed that caleb was uncomfortable with touch/people in his space and specifically pinned him as “the gentlest of punishments” because he knew caleb wouldn’t like it.

at some point (i think when beau got tieflinged but i could be wrong), travis asks if fjord would’ve seen molly naked and tal responds definitely; molly was a terrible roommate. in zadash, instead of asking fjord if he minds someone being brought to their room, molly first asks how deep of a sleeper he is, pays for his companionship, and then tells him that he can either “sleep through it or not”. (for context they only rented TWO ROOMS at this point, literally everyone in that room had to go over to the girl’s room, except for caleb who straight up got a new room.)

he often led interrogations with intimidation tactics and actively looked for the most effective way to make people uncomfortable to get what he wanted (even if “what he wanted” was just entertainment. eg blinding the hupperdook kid who made fun of him.)

in the weird theoretical universe where caduceus and molly met, i think cad would’ve definitely had a very stern conversation with him about that/those tendencies.

i think because taliesin is such a kind and respectful person people sort of carry that over when his characters in reality are often not nearly so polite. idk i just never see anyone lean into this aspect of molly’s character and i wish i saw it more.
