UnderEntrückung AU - Chapter 5: Lost and Found Dump

When you come to, you find yourself on a small patch of golden flowers for the second time in the Monster Realm.
Water sloshes around you as you move to get up. You may have landed without a scratch, but you’re still soaking wet from head to toe.
It’s so dark, you can barely see anything. So you just push forward against the current and hope the stream leads to an exit. Or a light switch.
As you wade through the waist-deep water, you come across a few rocks. They look strange. Kind of like something you’d see back home. When you pass a really big one and get a good look at it, you realize they are items from your realm. There are cans, and tables, and sunglasses, and even an entire airplane seat.
You hope that means what you think it means.
The further you go, the louder the sound of rushing water gets. You move past more and more objects until you finally find where they all come from: A big waterfall is just in the middle of the way. It doesn’t have a beginning you can see. It looks like it’s just falling out of thin air.
You don’t know all that much about physics, but you’re certain that’s not how waterfalls work. There has to be some place the water ist coming from, but you can’t see anything. There is no higher ground, only the same empty sky, that’s not really a sky.
Looks like you’re still in the Monster Realm, then. Pity.
You duck as a shoe falls with the water and nearly hits you. Even if all these items really did come from the Human Realm, seems like this opening only goes one-way.
Disappointed, you trudge around the waterfall and keep going. At least there’s dry land in sight.
Just as you’re about to get out, a chilling wind freezes you on the spot. You almost forgot how terrible that felt the first time around.
You look around, a little offended that some invisible monster bothers you, when heavy layers of clothes cling uncomfortably to your body and you’re really not in the mood to play.
The wind returns, more aggressive. You let out a frustrated huff and brush the dripping hair out of your face.
You stretch your arms out to the side in a quick downwards motion. It's your overdramatic attempt at wordlessly saying “What?! What is it that you want from me?“
Your answer is a splash of water to the face. You spit it out and make a move to splash it back, even if you don’t know where to even aim at. Then you spot a mannequin propped up by soggy wet boxes. The cold wind pulls at your mantle. It’s more gentle than before, but still feels urgent.

Well, it’s not like there is anyone else around who could help. And the monsters have been really nice to you so far (most of them, anyway). You suppose it is only polite to do one of them a little favor in return.
You grab the mannequin’s wrist and pull it up.
You wonder how something like this even ended up in the Monster Realm. Where did that waterfall and all the other items it spit out come from?
An impatient wind that makes you shudder keeps your mind on the task at hand. Such a rude one, this ghost monster.
You follow its trail by going wherever the air feels colder. Apparently, it wants you to play dress-up with the mannequin.
You pick out anything from the heaps of trash that could work as clothes. You even manage to find an actual tie, but one icy blow to your face makes it clear the ghost does not like it. Something more feminine it is, then.
You pull out some torn plastic bags and a fabric that either used to be a table cloth or curtains.
Finally, you pick out a pair of bells to tie the mannequin’s matted wig into pigtails.
You may not be a fashion expert by any means, but you’d say the end result turned out quite well. For once, the ghost seems to agree with you. With one final swirl around you, the cold wind disappears.
Satisfied with your work and feeling accomplished, you step out of the shallow water and onto dry land.
You hear a soft swoosh behind you and turn around one more time. The mannequin stands facing you. One arm is liftet up to wave.

The shadows cast on her face make it look like she’s smiling. You smile and wave back, and continue your journey home with a new spring to your step.

UnderEntrückung AU - Chapter 4: Making Friends All Around
You spend more time playing all sorts of games with the tall skeleton. The short skeleton also met back up with you a while ago, but he prefers lazily watching from the sidelines and occasionally saying something that always gets a funny reaction out of his taller companion. You think they behave like siblings.
There’s also other monsters that seem to live in the area that watch you play out in the snow. The smaller, and presumably younger, ones look like they want to play, too. The bigger ones always hold them back, though.
You don’t have anything to tell the time with. Not even the sun can guide you. Still, you feel like you have spent enough time goofing around. As fun as it has been, the cold is really starting to get to you, and you have to return home eventually.
You try to make as much clear as you wave the skeletons goodbye. The tall one stretches out his arm far above his head to wave back frantically. You don’t even realize he is trying to warn you about something.

The next area you come across is the prettiest one you’ve seen so far.
While it does feel like you’re trapped deep underneath a mountain, there is glowing cyan water flowing around you in lakes and streams. There are crystals glittering like stars. Or maybe they are magic lights. Whatever the case may be, they look beautiful.
Despite the peaceful atmosphere, you can’t shake the feeling of being watched yet again. It’s probably the monsters scurrying around you.
You’re getting used to the attention. After all, if a monster had shown up in your hometown, you’d be staring too.

One in particular seems to have taken a liking to you. They’ve been following you around a while now, cheerfully talking about something you can’t even begin to understand. Even with a language barrier between you, you feel like you’ve made a friend your own age.
Their happy chatter stops, as you two reach a bridge. They look indecisive between you and something in the distance. They whisper a word to you that might mean something like “wait here“ before turning back.
Not long after, they return with a significantly bigger monster in tow. While your new friend lacks arms, this one has two strong ones with webbed fingers, that it uses to pull itself across the ground. It’s piercing yellow eyes glare at you.
The monster child looks proud. You don’t think they fully understand what they’ve just done.
The big fish monster says something to the small one, who nods and runs off. Then it turns to you, and all restraint is gone.
With just its arms to propel itself, it jumps to attack you. You scream and run.
So much for expecting every monster to want to be your friend.
You race across a bridge but quickly meet a dead end. You slip on the wet wood, out of the fish monster’s clasp, and right down a deep, dark hole.

UnderEntrückung AU - Chapter 3: Papyrus' Welcoming Comittee
The snow crunches under your shoes. You don’t know how the climate can change so drastically within merely a few meters of distance, so you just chalk it up to magic.
The forest around you is suspiciously free of monsters. There is only the sound of your feet. But then you hear footsteps out of sync with your own.
You turn around, but there’s nothing there. This is the second time you’ve felt like you’re being watched. You hope this won’t become a pattern.
You keep walking again but you step on something hard and flinch back. There’s something lying in the snow. It almost blended in with the surroundings if it wasn’t for the blue and black clothes.
You stumble back in shock. It’s a corpse.

Nothing but bleached white bone remains of what you can only assume once was an adult human. Does that mean there were others before you that fell down the hole when climbing this mountain? Is that why there were so many signs, clearly warning you not to go up?
You shudder to think what might have happened to this person. You only hope they died of natural causes.
You give the skeleton a respectfully wide berth and continue on the straight path.
There’s a small building up ahead. The closer you get, the clearer you see the two figures by it.
It’s a skeleton again, tall and wearing torn clothes. He’s sitting next to a tiny cabin and reading a piece of paper while talking. He’s loud, though that doesn’t make you understand him any better.
There’s another one leaning over the counter from inside the cabin. You don’t know how it’s possible with only a skull, but when the lights inside his eye sockets turn to you, he appears to be grinning.
Upon closer inspection, you notice his lower jaw is missing. He’s also wearing the same clothes you had seen not even five minutes ago. It suddenly hits you that this is not at all a dead human, as you had feared. He’s a monster that just looks that way.

He says something to the other one, who finally notices you and jumps up. His bones rattle from the sudden movement. He ducks behind the cabin and squeezes into the way too small space.
Then he addresses you and points to the colorful sign to your left. You can’t read it. You’re starting to wish you had taken those notes with you. You clearly had enough room for it in your bag.
All you can do is lift your hand and hope he can tell by your facial expression how sorry you are that you can’t talk to him. The two skeletons turn to each other and you decide there is nothing you can do here and leave.
You don’t make it far until you see them again. They somehow managed to run past you.
The tall one has a bunch more papers in his hands now. He practically shoves one of them in your face the second you’re within his reach.
There is more text on it. Again, you can’t read any of it. You pull your lips into a tight line and furrow your brow. He gets the message and hands you another paper. This one does finally have letters you can read. But you don’t speak whatever language they're written in, either.
You hand the paper back and shake your head apologetically. He tries showing you a bunch more papers, some with drawings on them, but you still don’t know what he’s trying to tell you.
He slouches his shoulders and you feel bad for disappointing him. The short one says something to him and his mood lifts again.
He tears off a thin brach from a tree and uses it to draw lines in the snow. It’s a grid with nine squares. He makes an X in the middle left one, then holds out the stick to you.
This time, you catch on immediately. He wants to play tic-tac-toe.
You play a few rounds with him and even win most of them. He doesn’t seem sad, even when he loses after always using the exact same tactic.
While he’s evening out the snow to draw a new grid, you hear barking in the distance. You don’t know if there are dogs in the Monster Realm, but you’d like to find out. You are starting to warm up to monsters, after all.
Before you can excitedly run off to follow the possibility of dogs or dog-like monsters, the tall skeleton hands you back the stick to play. You hold one hand behind your ear and point with the other to tell him you want to check out the sound, but that only makes him pull you back further.
He says something to the short skeleton again, who gives a thumbs up and leaves the two of you behind. Then he bends down and motions for you to climb on his back.
You pout because you didn’t get to see any dogs, but get on anyway. You hold on tight as his long legs carry you through the snowy forest.

UnderEntrückung AU - Chapter 2: Toriel's Sanctuary
The friendly monster leads you through what you’re starting to think is an entirely different world. Everything is bright like during the daytime, but you can’t see the sun anywhere. Not even clouds, or a sky for that matter.
Before you know it, the two of you reach a humble little abode. The Caretaker (as you’ve decided to call her in your head) opens the door for you. Once inside, she ushers you to take a seat while she fetches something from another room.
She comes back with fresh clothes and a little bag for you to store items in that you all happily accept. She lets you change in private while she looks through her pantry for something for you to eat.

Now that the threat of evil monsters is gone, you think it’s actually kind of nice here. You feel silly for assuming the worst, when all the monsters did so far was look at you weird. They were probably just as scared and confused to see you as you were to see them.
You look around the Caretaker’s home a bit. There is furniture in different sizes, like a bed that is perfectly child-sized. You also find a bookshelf, but most of the texts are in a language you can’t read. You wonder if this is how monsters speak.
You do find one book from your world that you want to read. When you open it, a bunch of old pages fall out. You worry you accidentally destroyed it at first, but as you pick up the worn out paper, you see it was never part of the book at all.
They are notes, scribbled down in bad handwriting. You realize someone tried to translate the words into the monsters’ language. You appreciate the effort, but your head hurts just thinking about learning something so complicated.
You carefully put the book and the handwritten notes back where you found them and keep exploring. There isn’t too much to see inside the little house, and while you do feel a lot more confident in going back out and running into monsters again, you would also really like to go home now.
You try asking the Caretaker, but she doesn’t understand you any more than you her. You try charades but she only giggles at you. You pout frustrated. Seems there is no way around it.
You pull out the book from before and hope whoever wrote these notes was smarter than you. You smile triumphantly when you find it.
You hold the paper up to the Caretaker’s face and tap the word “HOME“.
Something in her gaze changes, as she reads it. She nudges you into the bedroom. When you try to move past her, she pushes you back inside. Her eyes are begging you to stay, but her words aren’t telling you why.
Defeated, you sit down on the bed. You wait as the clanking jewelry on the cloth she’s wearing grows quieter. When you think she’s far enough away, you sneak out of the room.
You end up finding a path hidden between her house and a pillar, that seemingly supports nothing, that leads further down. You take the risk and go.
That’s when the Caretaker notices you’re gone and chases after you. You hear the clopping of her back hooves before you see her. An instinctive fear takes over and you run.
There’s a wall of solid stone surrounding you again. At the end, where an exit used to be, boulders block your path. You climb them. To your incredible luck, there is a small hole just big enough for you to fit through.
The Caretaker screams out to you, probably so stop, but you’ve made up your mind. You jump through the hole and immediately get whiplash from the colder climate.
Muffled sobs come from the other side of the debris where you just came from. She doesn’t even try to reach her arm through the small opening.
You feel bad for the monster that has done nothing but shown you kindness. You hope she understands how grateful you are for her help, but that you cannot stay forever.
You pull the mantle she’s given you tighter around yourself and brace yourself for the cold weather ahead.

UnderEntrückung AU - Chapter 1: The Fall
Once upon a time, humans would often get spirited away into a realm in which monsters lived.
As big and scary as they looked, they were actually really nice and gentle creatures. They often helped humans travel through their realm and find a portal back home.
Unfortunately, a lot of curious humans never returned home. They stayed too long inside the magical realm until their SOULS became lost. In order to prevent people from seeking out ways into the Monster Realm, humans startet telling lies about terrifying beasts that trapped you in their world and killed you.
Less and less people dared to wander off into the woods alone and carefully steered away from anything that might be a portal. With time, as humanity progressed, tales about monsters became nothing but legends and bedtime stories to scare kids into behaving.

Frisk never was one to listen to those warnings.
They were always too curious for their own good and liked exploring nature. Today’s adventure brought them to the surrounding forest of Mount Ebott. It was the closest mountain to the city they lived in, and they always wanted to climb it.
They did not make it very far, however. Somewhere on their way up, they tripped over the roots of an old tree and fell.
Deep.
And deeper.
Into a whole different world.

For one horrifying moment, you thought you would never wake up again.
When you sit up, you find that your clothes are torn and your limbs aching, but otherwise still intact. That’s also the moment you finally realize you landed on a bed of gold shimmering flowers. They must have cushioned your fall, somehow.
You look around but only see high stone walls around you. They seem to go so high, you can’t even see where the walls end and the sky begins. There is a single path behind you, leading into the unknown.
Guess there is only one way to go.
You get up on your feet, try and fail not to whimper at the sight of blood on your knees, and begin walking.
You idly wonder if you’ve fallen down a hole. If you ended up in a underground cave system, you’d really be in trouble. How would you ever find your way out of one of those?
You pass one lone flower that is growing far away from the rest on your way, but don’t think much of it. You still get the faint feeling something about this is very off. You think you hear a noise.
You snap your head back. Nothing. Just your imagination then.

You try hard not to think about spooky fairytales about monsters stealing little children like you away as you keep going forward. Maybe falling into a hole and getting lost inside a cave would be the better outcome, after all.
A croaking sound up ahead gives you hope that you’ve found an exit. The walls around you get wider and more light shines through.
You are certain you heard a frog just now. But what comes hopping your way is way too big to be one. It takes a big leap over your head and you get a good look at its belly. It’s hollow. There is nothing there, but a second pair of eyes blinking at you.
Startled, you let out a scream and run. So monsters are definitely real. Very real.
You begin to panic about what this means for your chances of getting out of here, as you pass a bunch of more weird-looking creatures scattered about.

An icy breeze, that is so cold it briefly makes your lungs burn, suddenly passes through you, and you reach your limit of how many scary monster encounters you can handle.
You really, really shouldn’t have come here. You don’t know what to do. You feel like crying.
To make matters worse, a very big horned beast spots you. It’s so much bigger than all the other monsters. You’re too scared to even move, so you just freeze when it reaches out its large paw. You shut your eyes tightly.

The finishing blow never comes. In fact, there was never an attack at all.
The hand is closed so that the long, sharp nails on the fingers don’t scratch you. Fluffy knuckles gently stroke your head, and only then do you dare to open your eyes again.
The monster sits in front of you. It’s big maw is forming a smile. There is something soft in the way it looks at you. Kind and protective. Like a mother.
You relax somewhat as you realize she only wants to help.
And you do feel a lot better already. You don’t know how and when she did it, but the wounds on your legs and face are all healed up. Your clothes are still a mess, though.
The goat-looking monster slowly stands up on all fours, trying to be as little intimidating as possible as she does so. She nods her head in a different direction and you decide you might as well follow her.

UnderEntrückung AU - Introduction and Summary
Yeah, you read that right. After (*checks calendar*) roughly eight and a half years in the fandom, it finally happened - I made an alternate universe. I can't believe it either.
It's not the biggest thing in the world. It doesn't even change all that much from the original game aside from the character designs and some of the world building. You know what, why am I even typing this, I already have a summary prepared:
UnderEntrückung [ ŭnʹ-dər ɛntˈʀʏkʊŋ ]
From the German word Entrückung (noun), meaning
(religion, mythology) a move from one realm or world to another
(Christianity) the Rapture
Plus the prefix Under- from UNDERTALE
About:
An Undertale AU very loosely inspired by folklore and mythology because after 8 years in the fandom it was bound to happen eventually
Originally supposed to be just random drawings of the monsters looking more… well, “monstrous“, but quickly turned into its own thing when I wanted a world that matched their new alternate designs. Now that I’m done, I’m realizing this is one of those “aesthetic“ AUs, as the designs are the main thing that changed. Their personalties, relationships and backstories remain the same; they just got altered a little to fit the little world-building changes better.
Summary:
Monsters and humans live in their own separate realms, connected only through portals. Monsters cannot leave theirs, as the magic within it is what keeps them alive. Humans, on the other hand, used to get lost in the Monster Realm all the time. Sometimes the monsters helped them leave, other times they stayed too long and became LOST SOULS. So they started telling stories of dangerous beasts to warn people.
In modern day, all those stories are only seen as legends and old folktales. Not many people even believe in them.
As a result, monsters aren’t used to seeing humans visit their realm anymore. So when one does find their way to them, their reactions are mixed.

Alternate Endings [LINK PENDING]
Character Profiles [LINK PENDING]
Additional information I didn't know where else to put:
(contains SPOILERS!)
SOULS are still the culmination of one’s being, hence the ability to communicate with each other through them on an empathic level (similar to the in-game *Check). Things that couldn’t as easily be conveyed by an emotion or general feeling remain lost in translation
Monsters do have a society and their own culture (as seen by the Delta Rune and Royalty). Because of the unpredictable nature of their realm, as well as their own magic, they have less of a proper infrastructure and don’t rely on any technology
Death works different in the Monster Realm: When a monster dies in pain or has unfinished business, their SOUL becomes lost as their wander aimlessly until they can move on
When a human stays too long, they’ll automatically „become lost“ because of the magic inside the realm. This only becomes noticeable when it’s almost too late and the magic is affecting them so much, they can communicate with monsters clearly before they die
And vice versa, death in the Human Realm: Since humans aren’t connected to their SOULS the way monsters are, they usually just die without the risk of becoming lost. A monster can’t even go to the Human Realm, because the lack of magic kills them the second they try to leave through a portal
During the “canon“ storyline (the True Pacifist one shown here [LINK PENDING] ), Frisk doesn’t get lost. It usually takes around a year for that to happen. They only understand monsters a little better because they unknowingly have a guide narrating their journey (Chara). The incident with the LOST SOULS (“Amalgamates“) didn’t speed up the process; that was only a side effect
There are two main entries to the Monster Realm: a hole in the forest surrounding Mount Ebott, and a secret portal in the Atlantic Ocean (Bermuda Triangle). They are usually marked by a fairy ring. Most other portals have been shut or destroyed by the humans.
There is only one reliable exit out of the Monster Realm: A portal behind the Kings’s garden. It has been sealed shut as a result of Asriel and Chara’s deaths
Alphys did her experiments after using alchemy to make Mettaton’s body. Since he is a ghost, Asgore wrongly assumed he was a LOST SOUL that she brought back to life, so he asked her to do the same for his children
Monsters are very peaceful creatures that don’t rely on a guard. There are however vigilantes (like the Canine Unit and the guards from Hotland) that take it upon themselves to attack human outsiders. Unlike Undyne, most of them are easily convinced to back down from a fight and just let a human pass
Papyrus’ idea of a „System for Safe Human Travels“ might just be exactly what they need to prevent future tragedies

I wanted to try out a different brush than my regular felt tip one that I always use for everything. So for some reason decided I should challenge myself by making an entire drawing with just an airbrush.
Long story short, I'm never doing that again.

Why is Fluttershy always my test subject whenever I'm trying out something new XD
Anyway, some random doodles (mostly without sketches except for the second one) I did at different points in time. Really proud of that last one that just barely has lineart that blends in nicely with the colors, kind of like I've seen in Anime fanarts.

Some funny things I frequently saw when I was watching LPS videos as a kid (and occasionally still do).
I already made something like this back in 2022. I know it's late but I thought of two more, this time relating to items.
The (edited) photo of the water bottle is taken from the Littlest Pet Shop Collector's Wiki (specifically this page)
