Bill didn’t have to look at Daisy to know the cup of tea in her hand wasn’t touched. He didn’t have to ask to know why she didn’t trust him, or anyone recently. He only nodded, keeping an eye on the man nearby with his Pokemon. A classmate of hers from before...

Maybe coming back to her school so soon was a mistake.

“Ah understand.” He finally said, sipping his own warm tea. It wasn’t as good as the stuff they made at home, but the day was cold, and at the very least the warmth of the styrofoam cup could warm her hands. Still, he couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt. This had been his idea. He’d only wanted to help. “C’mon. Let’s go.”

"Ah dunno." Bill said with a shrug. "Ah've gotten into th' habit o' not evolvin' Pokemon unless they wanna. Happened 'cause o' mah Eevee's. I s'pose she's jus' never taken an interest in evolvin'."

Forgotten Date II Bill and Daisy

It was no secret that Bill forgot alot of things. It wasn’t as if he meant to. He often got so wrapped up in his work that simple things simply slipped his mind. Like dates...

The perfectly wrapped present caught his eye that morning as Bill was making his morning coffee, and he was suddenly grinning. Daisy would love the present. It would be the perfect gift on her birthday. She hadn't been around too much lately, but that wasn't going to stop Bill. Heck, maybe he couple plan for them to go out! Maybe even take her to Goldenrod. Spmeplace nice to eat. Someplace worth taking her.

That was the plan, then! Oh but how much time did he have? He'd have to call ahead. Make reservations. With any luck he could pull some strings to get in on her birthday, but the day before or after wouldn't be bad either. His eyes darted to the callendar, and his body went cold.

Daisy's birthday was June 6th. It was June 22nd. He was late by 16 days.

In a whirlwind of motion, Bill was downing his coffee and scurrying out the door. He gripped the present tightly as he practically ran through the street. He was such an idiot! No wonder Daisy hadn't been to see him lately! She probably hates him! He had to get to Palette town.

The trip seemed to take twice as long as normal, but finally that afternoon he found himself at the door of Daisy's house. It was a stroke of nothing but sheer luck that she was the one to answer the door.

"Ah'm late." Bill blurted, realizing right away Daisy wouldn't have a clue what he meant. He tried to steady his hands as he held the wrapped box out to Daisy. "Ah fergot yet birthday. Ah...Ah'm mighty sorry Daisy. But...but here's yer gift. Of...if you want it..."

Okay, but why do you like Daisy? As far as I know, she's ugly as hell and doesn't have any real personality.

“Them’s fightin’ words, grey face. Y’all don’t just insult a lady as gorgeous an’ kind as Daisy an’ expect t’ get away with it. Yer Lucky ahm not Green or ah’d have yer hide faster than a Pidgeotto had a Caterpie’s.”

“Ah tried to! That’s what counts! Ah made an effort! Ah just...” He sighed, looking away. “Ah just missed her lips a bit tha’s all...”

16. a kiss to the corner of the mouth

This was it. Fancy dinner by candlelight. Walk in the moonlight. Cerulean Cape under the stars. All the pieces had fallen into place and all the signs were pointing to it. If he didn’t kiss her now, it would never happen. Ever.

“D-Daisy.” He managed, thanking the heavens that his hand was able to be steady when the rest of his body was shaking. Already he could feel his cheeks redden and lord could she hear his heart pouding? Because damn if he couldn’t.

Oh but she looked downright gorgeous in the moonlight as the sound of the waves crashed in the background. He swallowed his fear, hoping he wasn’t about to make a fool of himself as he pulled her closer (girls liked that right?) and leaned in, letting his eyes flutter shut. He just had to touch their lips. That was all. Just a touch of the lips and he was home free.

It felt like an eternity before his lips finally made contact with something, but it only took him a moment to realize it was only the corner of her mouth.

He’d missed.

“Huh? Ah do?”

Bill blinked, looking up from the papers on his desk for the first time all day. Of course, he didn’t know it was all day. But he supposed it had to be. After all, it hadn’t been dark when he started. At least, he was pretty sure it wasn’t. He was also pretty sure his hands hadn’t been shaking all day.

“Ah.” He said, realizing what had happened. He looked to Daisy, giving her a sheepish smile. “Ah uh…May have fergotten t’ eat today. But the blueprints of th’ new teleporter r’done!”
