sleeping in is a certified joy of life. i’ll said it, i don’t think 10am is a super late morning. that’s when i wake up naturally. parents insisting their kids wake up at a certain time every day [esp early in the morning], even between jobs or free of obligations, is so sickening to my zesty soul which only wishes to pluck the rich fruits of a living night and late morning. 8am is simply unfair to my adhd ass which is also incapable of taking naps. snoozers RISE UP! ✊

My other fun addition to the Hbomberguy video stuff is not just that you need to start checking everyone's sources just to make sure you aren't being duped, but to not use them as a stand in for media consumption/experiences either. Like I'm not gonna lecture you on reading sources cause I am the first one to not and that's my laziness, but like sometimes more important than checking the original analysis of something is just to... see tge thing being analyzed yourself. That's not even about misinformation or lying, sometimes people's opinions just SUCK ASS.
Like there are youtube video essayists I overall kinda respect but they have dogshit opinions on things. I used to love Jack Saint's bad faith overly critical analyses of throwaway kids films, until I realized he also saw films that in my opinion had a lot of merit, and it turned me off from him. Big Joel is cool as hell, but anytime he gives his opinion on animation save like a few points, I completely glaze over and find him annoying. The other day I watched a video essay about the "Magical Negro" trope, and the first movie sourced interested me, so I watched it and I hardly understand why they put that in, it framed the movie as something it wasn't.
Just in general, it's good practice to make sure your opinions on media are your own and experience it yourself. MY biggest takeaway from the Hbomn video wasn't to throw rocks at Somerton or start obsessively fact-checking every essayist I watch, but to make sure I have a baseline of what they talking about myself and not letting anyone throw around media examples without reckless abandon. The Celluloid Closet and Tinkerbelles and Evil Queens is on my watxh/read list now, but the first thing I did from the words he stole from Celluoid Closet was watch Rebels Without A Cause out of curiosity of this gay subtext in a 50s blockbuster. And it was a super interesting experience that has given me my own unrelated opinions. Not to discount whatever important queer reading and historical importance the film has, but I'm happy I also have more than just that cause I Watched It Myself, not someone's specific and unavoidably biased reading of it.
The video isn't about cultivating suspicion but cultivating appreciation for the skills of analytical/informative/opinion writing. So even when people aren't being lying grifters, it's just good to be your own critic and media analyst. Maybe you'll even contribute to that world yourself, or maybe you'll keep all your cool opinions in your heart and die, who cares. The point is that unlike some people, your opinions and words are your own. It's a beautiful thing to have your own creative voice.

Comedy gold!
I want Bugs Bunny, but in the Batman universe, I want him to move to Gotham. I want him to just be doing his thing, as a large talking rabbit who goes about his day buying carrots, only oh gosh look at this, carrots got poisoned today. The only non-poisoned ones are too expensive.
He pulls out his wallet from...a void pocket in his skin, don't think too hard, and he empties it and little moths fly out, one carrying a dollar he tries to catch, but he can't. They don't carrot all about his predicament.
He feels dejected, walks out of the store, sans carrots, sans the real reason he lives each day. Lo and behold, he sees an electronic shop with those old timey televisions in front that are massive and all facing the glass window and he peers in and sees that the JOKER of all people poisoned the carrots, in some dumb bit to make Batman laugh.
That's just rude, he recognizes the place the Joker is though, because he's a rabbit and they go all sorts of places they shouldn't, so he goes there to give this guy a piece of his mind.
He gets there are the Joker is locked in a battle of verbal wits with Batman, manages to get the Joker to pay attention to him, manages to chew the Joker out, and then get the Joker into one of those battles he gets into with Daffy Duck, "rabbit season" "duck season!" but about who is funniest in this town, Him, or the Joker this hack.
"Bugs!" Bug shouts at the Joker, poking him in the chest.
"Joker!" Joker screams back, jabbing right back.
"Bugs!" Bugs continues.
"Joker!" Joker shouts.
"Joker!" Bugs leans in, louder than before, right in the Joker's face.
"Bugs!" Joker screams, "And Batman agrees!" poking Bugs Bunny in the chest and turning away from him, looking hopefully away from his strange large senitient rabbit he's being harassed by, and looking to his Dark Knight.
Who laughs. At him, not with him.
Instantly the Joker realizes he's been had, and his shoulders slump as the Batman continues laughing, mocking him, while he puts the big damn bat-shaped titanium cuffs on the Joker. He absolutely could get out of these, he operates on a similar logic to this awful rabbit he's just met, but that's not the game and he hates it, but knows when he's beat.
But now he has an oversized rodent with wings AND one without he very much wants to defeat and show all of Gotham just who is the best comedian.
But he knows, deep in his heart in his most sane minutes in Arkham, he knows he will not ever win in this. What's funnier than a giant talking rabbit getting Batman of all people to laugh at the Joker's expense?

I’m watching SpyxFamily rn and loosing my mind over the environmental details in this show
LOOK AT THESE FUCKING UMBRELLA SHADES
The angels
The sleek design that lets you sit with your friends and have tea ON A LOW COFFE TABLE instead of the umbrella pole getting in the way or bumping into your feet if it was a high table with a center umbrella
The level of classy-ness is adds to the outdoor patio is huge. You know what kind of fancy establishment this is just from a shot of their outdoor seating
Like this is for a very brief scene and the world building they put into this one little cafe is so beautiful

@mundymae gave some great tips on this post about showering while physically disabled, here are some that i can think of rn! (some might be on the other list but i’m too lazy to double check lmao)
1. grab bars!!! great for ppl with balance issues and ppl who easily faint
2. low water temp, hot showers (especially with the door closed) can make u feel faint and also relaxes ur body, making it easier to dislocate/sublux shit
3. shower chair/shower table/changing table, shower chairs are great for ppl with chronic pain, ppl who can’t stand for a long time, ppl who faint easily etc. shower tables / changing tables are rarely mentioned, but are great for ppl who are severely mobility impaired who can’t use regular shower chairs/stools. there are also shower tables that function as bathtubs, which sadly is a luxury many times when u are severely disabled.
4. hand held shower heads, they are easier to use especially while sitting down, so u can make sure u clean yourself as much as possible. personal hygiene is difficult with the other ones that u can’t hold in ur hand, bc u can’t easily clean ur genitals and shit like that.
5. bring something cold to drink, water or those liquid iv’s or sport drinks, those can be very useful especially if u have hot water.
6. anti slip mats, these are great in showers AND bathtubs. what they’re for is pretty obvious based on its name, but when u are physically disabled (and these are great for ppl who aren’t as well) it is EASY to slip when loosing ur balance, when ur light headed or feel faint.
7. if it is possible for you i recommend those things/barriers on the floor that keep water from going everywhere, bc again, it is very easy to slip when getting out of the shower.
8. keep your phone close if you live alone or are alone when showering, and if possible, do not lock the bathroom door. if you have an emergency it is super important to be able to get help quickly and easily. if you live alone, it can be good to give a friend or family member your house/apartment key so they can help you. this has saved me many times after falling in general and not being able to get up by myself.
9. keep your mobility aids and disability aids close so you can use them after showering, if you use braces or compression socks it can be good to get to them quickly.
10. something i like to do is getting clean underwear and clothes out before showering so i can get dressed easily without having to dig out a bunch of clothes after showering when i’m exhausted.
11. sponges, sponges, sponges!!! especially on sticks. they are amazing when u can’t reach everywhere yourself.
12. if you are exhausted or in pain or whatever but really need to shower, only clean the most crucial areas. arm pits, skin folds, genitals, ass, where ever shit gets nasty. do not waste your energy on areas that aren’t absolutely necessary.
13. a tip for fellow fat disabled ppl, i mentioned it above but make sure to clean ur skin folds AND dry them properly after. if needed, powder or use creams. skin folds can easily get nasty with fungal infections and it hurts, it smells, and it’s not pleasant. areas to look out for: arm pits, under breasts, under stomach, groin and between toes.
14. keep everything u use to clean urself close, shampoo, conditioner, soap and whatever else u use. i have everything on a shelf right in front of me, i do not need to bend over or stretch to reach anything.
15. if your bathroom has a window it can be nice to open it to get some fresh air in there, otherwise i find that keeping the bathroom door open works fine too.

btw one of the key components of actually being in a healthy relationship is just asking for things that you want. i keep seeing posts on this website saying 'i really want to do/receive [X] but my partner has never done it'. just ask. 'nobody exchanges love letters anymore' ask. 'i want to have my partner's hair in a locket like the victorians' just ask. 'i want to be bought flowers regularly :((' literally just ask. your partner doesn't know they're being held to these expectations and that you're unhappy unless you tell them. it's so unfair to expect your partner to read your mind. 'it's less special if you have to ask :((' grow up and stop pretending you're the lead in a romcom. when people say communication is crucial they mean it !! just ask !!

also if you wanna combat the "women in the past only crossdressed because of misogyny!" you have GOTTA read chapter 11 in Transgender Warriors where leslie feinberg does such a good job constructing an argument against this kind of radfem reductionism
