A heads up to anyone who is still looking out for KOSA news.

Supposedly there's going to be a push from KOSA supporters to go to DC and try to convince House leadership to push it through before the end of the Lame Duck period. This being after Donald Trump Jr and Elon Musk have voiced their support for it in the past couple days.

To be clear, there's no votes set to happen anytime soon or anything, and all news out of the GOP from sources like Evan Greer and Fight For The Future indicate that there's little to no chance Speaker Johnson or anyone intends to push it forward before the end of this year.

But even so, if you will have the time and energy to call and write to your House and Senate reps, especially House leadership like Johnson, to let them know that there's still a great amount of resistance to it, your efforts would be much appreciated. And this amount of vocal resistance could also help us try and push back against it being stuck onto any last minute must-pass financial legislature even if it won't pass under its own power.

Thank you in advance for your time and efforts! Only two weeks to go until the end of the legislative session. Let's work hard until the end and then hope that we can put it to rest for this year so we can build up our energy to work full force for all that's important to us next year!

There is a HUGE push to pass KOSA rn at the end of the year.

Real quick summary: Blumenthal and Blackburn "rewrote" KOSA to appeal to the right more. They worked with ELON MUSK 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♂️ to push this bill "protecting kids". Tomorrow, many orgs are bringing groups of parents to speak to congress. Top of the agenda is to go after providers of gender affirming care, including for adults. The FTC could also go after online platforms for displaying LGBTQ content which would be supercharged under KOSA. This is catastrophically bad.

OK. SO. GOOD NEWS AND BAD NEWS

i'm elated to say that i just signed off on the new apartment and have been in the process of moving for the past few days; it's a long-coming and desperately needed change, and a huge weight off of my shoulders. i couldn't have even dreamed of doing this without your help and generosity, and because of that i'm fucking mortified to say:

if you are capable of tossing a few dollars my way, i need the help.

not only did i have to pay a double deposit (extremely unusual in mexico) because i didn't have an aval (someone native who owns property and is willing to pay the landlord if i fail to pay rent), the last person who lived in this apartment took absolutely everything with them — including the kitchenette, curtain rods and apartment security bars (??) — leaving nothing but an extreme infestation of ticks that did not become apparent to me (or, evidently, the landlord) until i attempted to sleep in my new home for the very first time.

...i was fully ready to sleep on a cheap air mattress and eat instant ramen for months, but ticks carry lyme disease, and if i'm barely making rent i sure as shit don't have the money to be hospitalized.

i'm horrified to ask, but until i can get my tax info sorted i can't even dream of getting a job — so for now, unfortunately, kofi is still my only recourse. please consider reblogging or donating just a couple of dollars if you're able; i cannot express how much it would mean to me.
