I want old aros so badly. I want a history. I want a future. I want tales of lives that I understand. I want to see myself in a future where I’m happy and comfortable.
But I don’t have that, so I’ll have to build it.

Sometimes they fancy a shag, sometimes they don't, sometimes they never do or only for special moments or people. REGARDLESS THEY MATTER AND DESERVE TO TAKE UP SPACE.
Yesterday was International Asexuality Day, but ace books are good to read all year round. Asexual means a person doesn't feel sexual feelings or attraction to others, but this is a spectrum and can vary widely from person to person. Note that attraction does not equal romance, and asexual is not the same as aromantic. Some people are sex repulsed, some are not. Some people are sex positive, some are not.
Demisexuality falls under the asexual umbrella, and means a person doesn't feel attraction until developing a strong connection with a person. Two of my books, Phantom and Rook, and Matsdotter and Adrastus, have demisexual mains.
There are many different shades of Ace, and many different types of stories just waiting for you to read.

Happy International Asexuality Day, Black Asexuals! 🖤🩶🤍💜
Yasmin Benoit helped to co-found this day in 2021 to celebrate the asexual identity and ace experiences. I have to be honest and say given recent events I'm not in the celebrating mood, but I'm still gonna try to boost Black asexuality today just like every other day. Creating Black ace spaces and content is important because we're the only ones who can. Just like Yasmin, we have to create the Black ace representation that we want and need. We are the representation. Don't be afraid to take up space and speak your truth. Don't shrink yourself to make mainstream bigger ace spaces more comfortable. Don't feel like you have to downplay or 'fix' your Blackness for anybody ace or not. And most importantly, have a great day!

A lot of the time when I find lists of books with asexual characters, they have loads of YA and coming-of-age books, which is great! It's lovely! And it's certainly relatable for a lot of young aces. But I'm 30 and I didn't figure out I was aspec until I was an adult.
I'm perfectly capable of projecting aspec identities on unlabeled characters (I have lots of practice) but it would be nice to have more aspec characters who are already adults and past the coming-of-age stage of life.
Anyone got recs like that?

So I don't sell these anymore (ugh Etsy and ugh moving to a different country) but if you want to make your own little queer owl: I used this awesome free pattern for the owls, starting at the base with the lowest colour of the flag:
https://patterncenter.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Baby_Owl_Ornaments_Pattern_by_A_Morning_Cup_of_Jo_Creations-1.pdf
It's an easy pattern, you'll need to do a little circle (magic circle optional), increase, decrease and single crochet, no fancy stitches, just colour changes when you need to. It's a bit of a learning process to work out when to switch colours, but if you have some time to faff about with yarn and a hook: do it!
Happy pride ♥️

Behold the tiny arowlmantic and the genderqueer owl, with their buddies the pansexuowl, bisexuowl and asexuowl <3
Making more soon! If you like a different owl poke at me and I can dive into my yarn stash
