Text
THE LOVE HE ONCE BETRAYED
With heavy heart and aching soul,
He lays and thinks of actions he can't hold.
His lover's trust he did betray,
And now regrets, went astray.
He promised her forever,
But his actions spoke a different tune.
He was dishonest and unfaithful,
And now his heart is filled with gloom.
He's sorry for the words unspoken,
The letters left unsent.
He's sorry for the promises broken,
And the love that he hath spent.
He promised her the world,
But delivered her pain.
He promised her his love,
But gave her heartbreak and disdain.
He's sorry for the nights she cried,
For the tears that fell like rain.
He's sorry for the love he denied,
And the heart he chose to stain.
He knows that sorry is not enough,
To heal the wounds he's made.
But he'll spend his days in mount despair
And the love he once betrayed.
