These gfms belong to organizers who have reached out to me and all of them are nowhere near their goals, there are a few more I'm going through right now but these are all verified. Please share and donate to help these families.

@ahmadturk00 is a verified gfm! Mohammed Skaik is raising funds for his cousin and their family to evacuate Gaza - Ahmad Al Turk's family is made up of seven people and are currently living in a tent - they are a newer gfm and need urgent support. (€1,332/ €70,000 - 4/30/2024)

@hlabarka is also a newer GFM but has been completely verified, she is raising the funds to evacuate with her three-year-old daughter and her husband from Gaza and into Egypt, she and her family have been forced to relocate in Gaza seven times. ($1,112/ $50,000 - 4/30/2024)

@maisonhijazi is organizing for Hamdi, a father in Gaza who is trying to evacuate his children to safety - they just had a baby girl while displaced in Gaza. Please help him get the funds he needs to evacuate his family to Egypt. ($6,852/$25,000 - 4/30/2024)

@mohammedfamily87  Tareq Abu Obaid is organizing for his friend Mohammad Mousa, Mohammed is trying to evacuate his three children and his wife - his house was airstriked back in October, and has lost several members of his family already. (€170/€80,000 - 4/30/2024)

@ahmednabubaker is organizing for Yusuf, an eight-year-old boy who is being threatened with kidney failure, and Yusuf's family - this campaign is for Yusuf and his family to be evacuated to Egypt so Yusuf can be treated and receive a kidney transplant. Macklemore using his platform and art to advocate for Palestine and help UNRWA is really huge, but can people stop saying that no other artists have been speaking up for Palestine? Palestinian artists like Nemahsis, Lowkey, Saint Levant, Elyanna, Zeyne, Lana Lubany, Bashar Murad, and many others have been using their art to advocate for their people their entire careers. A lot of people would rather support white people supporting Palestinians than actually supporting Palestinians and it just adds to the dehumanising idea that Palestinians can't or don't speak for themselves.

Brazil's Rio Grande do Sul is currently flooded

I don't make these kinds of posts, but Rio Grande do Sul (a brazilian estate) is going through its worst natural catastrophe in recorded history and I need everyone to know about this. Its currently looking like this:

What is going on

Most of Brazil suffers from yearly floods during the rain season. These floods most of the time aren't bad, with water going away a few hours later. Sometimes they are a nightmare, with people losing their homes and most if not all belongings. But this?

This is not fucking normal.

Currently (May 6th, 2024) there's +80 confirmed deaths and 873 thousand people are being affected by these historical floods. Eight hundred and seventy three THOUSAND people. Once again: THIS. IS. NOT. NORMAL.

Rio Grande has 496 cities, and currently, 364 are reporting problems related to this. It's almost the entirety of Rio Grande - and you know how big Rio Grande is? If you're from the USA, its just a bit bigger than Colorado, and just a bit smaller than Nevada. If you are European, Rio Grande is bigger than the United Kingdom. Can you imagine if almost the entirety of the UK was underwater? Because I sure fucking can just by watching brazilian news!

Rio Grande expects floods. It rains a lot in Brazil. What no one expect is having to deal with 2,30 meters - 7'7 feet for reference - ABOVE the expected flooding level, which is 3 meters (9'10 feet). This means that there were 5,26 meters (17'3 ft) of water. Chart for comparison:

I live in São Paulo, which is completely unaffected by what is going on over there, but I need people to be aware of this. Why?

I think part of the reason that people find choice feminism so hard to fight, politically, is because human beings are very very very very threatened by any implication that they are not operating completely out of pure free will, and that in fact every single choice they make is informed by external, social forces. it scares the fuck out of people to imagine that their preferences are not really theirs, and instead came from outside of them, because who the hell are they then, if you remove all the pressure and the social influence.

and so they lash out and emphasize how much they love the thing they've been manipulated into liking (be it makeup, guns, young adult fiction novels, star wars, or sports) and they excoriate you for not letting them have fun. but you're not preventing them from having fun, you're not even trying to stop them from doing the thing they've been manipulated into doing. you're just pointing out the fact that they and many other people have been manipulated. but i guess confronting the gaping maw that is the lack of an innate selfhood separate from social influence does tend to spoil people's fun.

A moment for a petty complaint:

When people are explaining how to weave in ends, in a tutorial or any video, and they say to "just follow the path of the yarn" or "double the stitches" and then proceed to do THIS

That's a valid way to weave in your ends, assuming your yarn is wooly enough to not slip and it won't be super visible, but that's simply not what you've described.

THIS is following the path of the yarn. It is also the superior way to weave in ends securely and least-visibly from both sides.

(This is an MCAS related ask.)

I hate to bother you with this as I know you are Going Through It as they say, so please feel free to ignore this outright or answer whenever you feel up to it. I also come to you with this because the internet is… woefully not up and up with info on MCAS at all.

If/when they did the initial allergy testing for you, did your results show you as reactive to only a few things at the time even though you were having reactions to many more things? And/or did you show up reactive to all?

I ask because I’ve finally talked to my dr and gastro about the possibility of having MCAS based on my entire life’s worth of random, miserable symptoms that check all the boxes of a mild to extreme allergic reaction depending on the day. Gastro was on board with this, dr has been hesitant but sent my bloodwork in for the basic panel of things. (Eggs peanuts shrimp etc.) Only shrimp and sesame came up, even though I have a wide range of reactions to things like tuna that they also tested for. Then again, the reactions don’t always happen so maybe this is normal?

With MCAS, it's very possible to have reactions to things that you don't have an IgE reaction to on paper -- which is what they are testing for with those tests.

It's also possible to have "random" reactions with MCAS, which seem inconsistent. So, one day, I can eat a certain food, but I can't do it every day or even every third day, or my window of tolerance will get used up and push me into a reaction.

You'll sometimes hear this referenced as a "histamine bucket."

Sorry for lack of ID, my hands are shaky today.

Tuna, especially tinned tuna, is incredibly high in histamine, so it's possible you are having a histamine reaction if your mast cells are wonky; even if you're not having an IgE reaction, they can catch via testing.

MCAS is a bastard like that. Actually, having lots of reactions you test negative for on a standard IgE test is one of the first warning signs your mast cells are wonky, and a knowledgeable doctor will look at that and hopefully start you on a mast cell stabilizing protocol to see if it helps.

So best of luck. Sorry you're going through it, but I hope you get the answers you need <3
