Raising Awareness About Acephobia

Acephobia refers to the discrimination, prejudice, or negative attitudes towards asexual people and the asexual spectrum. Sadly, acephobia is all too common and can have significant impacts on the mental health and wellbeing of asexual individuals.

Some examples of this includes;

Pressuring asexual people to have sex or enter sexual relationships

Spreading harmful myths and stereotypes about asexual people (e.g. they are "broken", "prude", or "immature")

Excluding asexual people from LGBTQIA+ spaces and communities

Pathologizing asexuality and treating it as a disorder that needs to be "fixed"

It's important to understand that asexuality is a valid sexual orientation, not a disorder or a choice. Asexual people experience little to no sexual attraction, but that doesn't make them any less deserving of respect, understanding and inclusion.
