Oh, that's interesting. I didn't know they buddies but it makes sense why Lou gets so much screentime.
I liked Lou in the beginning, he was funny when he was beefing with Steve, but he gets annoying when he starts to get too much screen time. By season 6 I was skipping most of his episodes at least fast forwarding the scenes.
But if he hated Scott so much, why didn't he fire him?
It's so frustrating to see Danny's screentime diminishing so much after season 5 and the way he stops having cool action scenes 😭 Scott could've left to find something worth his talent
oh and and don't get me started as every time i mentioned i didn't like that steve left so soon after danny hospital leave a nice horde of people jumped down my throat with the same old 'but steve has so much traumaaa and ptsd and lost people he loved 🥺 can't you see he's hurting 🥺 you're dumb and don't understand anything' - as if danno hadn't also gone through horrible stuff too (wanting to k-ll himself after rachel served him the divorce papers, matt worried he might off himsellf so he stayed with him - and later in colombia letting both guards and inmates do w/e they wanted w him) that goes even more unadressed - they both need to heal!! therapy!! and rest!! and the support of family!! not the cia agent that reminds steve of doris!! - - and speaking of divorce and children if it's ok to link this story https://archiveofourown.org/works/22752415 it's the firehouse being supportive of danny when rachel confesses charlie's real father is, and remember steve just going 'don't be angry, think of the kids!!! (basically 'your feelings don't matter here danny, your kids do' as if danny had ever done anything ever without thinking of his kids first i'm just- he needed a friend to vent to steve :_ not more dismissals - this another thing that annoyed me among other things - but!!! I love mcdanno and steve and danny and the family - just some things tick me off) (((my apologies if this shows up 4 times in your inbox tumlr is telling me 'your message could not be sent
I only got 2 times, but no problem lol
Really? I was so angry watching the episode the first time that I called him a lot of bad names lol now I dealt better, but I still don't hate this ending.
Like I said, I know he had ptsd and he needed to do that, but the least he could have done was waiting for Danny to be fully healed. In the ideal world, he would've acted like a grown man, staying and looked for treatment, finding a veterans ptsd program or something, but I think that's too much to expect from a male centered 2010s show.
But what I think it made even worse was Catherine coming into the fucking plane. She is a younger Doris, a personification of Steve's mommy issues, he is not healing himself like this!
And about the Rachel hiding Charlie thing, I don't see as Steve dismissing Danny's feelings, I think he was trying to be the peacemaker of the situation.
Now, what I think is really dismissive and makes really angry is the team reaction post the leaver transplant. Danny saved the day and Steve and they all basically ignore him in the hospital room. That was horrible. One of the moments I hate the most after the finale.
Anyway, I love mcdanno too. I just hate Steve leaving in the ending, team treatment to Danny in season 6 and Steve partnering with Lou half of the time then.

he does give in pretty quickly now that you mention it. this is just me but i love danny whump kidnapping woyld have been so nice to have more of - unfortunate we only had it in the last episode :_
dayu mei clocked them very fast 🤣, she saw the together and was like 'ah yes grab the blond and mcgarrett will fold like a chair'
I forgot to reply this before, but I think we have that a few times in the later seasons, like when they get contaminated in that ship, Danny gets really bad and Steve keeps following him around and when he was shoot in the next episode in quarantine. I love when it's the other way around too. Steve is hurt and Danny does everything to get him back.
About Mrs Wo Fat clocking them, I haven't really noticed she watching them in the cemetery before and I had to laugh when I realized she took one look at them and was like "the person Steve cares the most in the care"

And I went back to watch my fav episodes in season 1 because tomorrow h50 is being taken down from me. I know I can watch through other means 🏴☠️ but not sure I'll have the patience for it.
Steve was so smitten and pining hard 😭 I miss this guy in later seasons, although I love their old married couple dynamics too.
But him going out of his way to win Danny over was adorable. The 3 nights at the hotel, using his influence to help Danny with the custody, showing up to Meka's funeral because he knows Danny, picking up the phone in the middle of the woods tracking the murders to calm Danny down, giving Danny a tour to his favorites places 🥹
Danny drawing the heart in the air is iconic too
Also I love how much more Danny gets to shine in season in. He had such a wild personality too, he used to be more witty and sarcastic.
#i'm trully sad h50 is leaving the stream platform I use in my country#i binged h50 in a tough time and became a confort show for me#mcdanno#h50

I feel like it’s not even steve in that final scene, I feel like it’s just the writers trying to weasel their way out of mcdanno bc that’s like the only way they could do it. Everything steve says in that scene is just so OOC for him if u think about literally everything he’s said and done throughout the entirety of the show
Same!
The episode almost gives me whiplash.
They have Steve begging to God "if you want to take someone take me, not him. Take me" and Mrs. Wo Fat saying to Steve "I have the person that you care about the most in the world". Only for him to leave a Danny who can't even walk properly yet. It doesn't make sense at all. Not with his character in the episode or the whole series.
It's like the show gave most mcdanno episode they could and then immediately had to take back to remind everyone: StEvE iS sTrAiGhT!!

finding a veterans ptsd program or something
funny you mention that because there's a deleted scene in the dvd (along with lots of danny scenes)where steve goes to a veteran' meeting where he talks about freddie in earlier seasons :_ but then they completely ignore this angle and now he must leave and find peace with doris 2.0 - their male lead doesn't need profesional help apparently just a lady and having kids will fix him
((i know the actor wanted to leave but couldn't they have just ended it on the beach? would have been such a nice finale if the whole 5-0 team had a little celebration party that danny was home or something and ta-da series ending, yes i ask too much I know
I had forgot about the post liver transplant team thing 😭 danny get more friends please
I've seen the gifsets around Tumblr!
The veterans program storyline had the potential to bring so much growth for his character, but it sucks it was waisted to make Steve be the typical action hero of 80s/90s movies.
Honestly, making him leave and giving him a girlfriend instead of getting treatment is such a disservice to mental health awareness in 2020. But I've been informed that Peter Lenkov is the worst by a Twitter mutual, and he was even fired from CBS for harassment, so it makes sense.
The perfect ending to me would be just the Steve and Danny (a health Danny) drinking beers in Steve's beach, like a parallel that scene in the first episode, but a party with the whole ohana would be nice too. I know it's CBS and they would never make mcdanno canon, but an ending with them together as the best friends they are would be enough.

Also, the H50 series finale makes me question why no other criminal in the past 10 years kidnapped Danny before to get to Steve, because he gives in without a second thought, even with Adam questioning his decision.
Is the whole criminal population of Hawaii dumb???

leaves Danny all alone on the beach :_ did you see Danny watch steve leaving and when steve looks back Danny turns around fast? i love angst and he kinda looked 3 seconds away from crying so i think he started crying when steve left 😭 lots of people kinda hated steve for leaving danny, after all his talk of never letting danny leave hawaii (the talk with tani), and basically throwing everything he's ever done for him in his face with the whole 'i stayed for my dad's case', and the family they made the ohana, not even a word about gracie/charlie/nahele ('love them as if they were my own my a$$), bc f them apparently, and leaving him barely able to walk, just with eddie as company (iirc all the others surprise dropped bc i think danny called them beforehand) - dayu mei had contacts why no one watching danny's back?? and AND the last we ever see of danny is him sitting all alone and heartbroken (HE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE HIS KIDS VISITING HIM). idc what the writers said that happpened later, i didn't SEE it onscreen 😭 and of those people that kinda hated steve for leaving danny for catherine that's why there's a numbr of stories where danny gets together with other guys, and then steve comes back, he grovels until danny lets them be friends again i'm sorry for the whole rant, i'm still salty about my danno's ending :_
THIS! ALL THIS! The episode was so good, until the last 10 minutes. It ruined everything!
I get it that he has PTSD and had to leave, but could've he wait until Danny was fully recovered?? I think it would be the last he could for his best friend of 10 years, who doneted him a leaver and was hurt because of him! And, yeah, saying the the only reason he stayed was for his father case hurt a lot. It's like they suddenly forgot the whole concept of ohana and only his blood family mattered!!
I mostly hated Danny's ending alone on the beach. I almost rather it showed him and with Rachel and his kids than him being a shadow of Steve like this.
The first time I watched I was so angry I wanted to write a fic of Danny leading his own task force in NJ and having a hot younger boyfriend, but I'm not that good of writer to pull off something that lol but I did read a lot of fix-it.
And don't be sorry for the rant! When I watched last year, I thought the fandom was dead, I would really like to have more people to yap about it 🤗
