Hey I'm bored so you should go and ramble about your wof ocs

Unfortunately, I am unable to ramble about my main guys (Coatimundi, Wolf, and Esoteric) due to currently writing about them and not wanting to spoil anything for their characters.

And, even ignoring those three, I have... way too many WoF ocs that I barely recall and just never drew. Most of them are well over a few years old, meaning that I can safely (and lovingly) dub them to be a bit... uh... not up to par with my current standards for my characters.

The oldest ones I can think of are Snake and then Darkness. I think Snake was my first ever WoF oc (and possibly first oc ever?).

Snake was a Night-SandWing hybrid who hatched after JMA and the Darkstalker events and had animus magic (we ignore the Lost Continent arc for his character).

Anyway, Snake's parents were divorced (do dragons have divorces??). His mother, a NightWing, lived out in the Rainforest while his father, a SandWing, lived out in Possibility with Snake's older brother. His father and brother worked as like- jewelers I think? I'm pretty certain Snake had animus magic and trapped his brother inside this ring for some reason? He also was a seer, had a barb, and was a mind reader. I don't remember well. Anyway, Snake went to JMA, and he for some reason knew where Darkstalker was but just didn't know that Darkstalker was gone??? (I think I might have made his character while I was reading earlier in arc 2 now that I think about it). Snake would pick fights with other dragonets and such, and he eventually ended up finding the place where Darkstalker was and was super upset when he found out he was gone. I don't think I figured out anything more for his character after that, and I'm pretty sure I sorta forgot I even made him for awhile ToT

And then there's Darkness, my angsty RainWing. If I remember correctly, Darkness was taken by the NightWings as an egg and was raised by them for their experiments. He always had black scales, and he had a skull pattern over the upper portion of his face. When the Dragonets of Destiny broke all the RainWings out, I'm pretty sure Darkness always was sort of odd around other RainWings. He'd eat meat and stuff and was always sorta strange since he primarily picked up on more NightWing behaviors since he, well, was raised by them.

I think that was pretty much it. I honestly think Darkness's character could actually be possibly expanded upon, but I don't think I can do much with Snake's without changing his character wildly.

Her name is Auk and she's a costal Icewing. Her pattern is based on Chinstrap penguins, which are my favorite penguins :)

listen guys i hate kestrel and all these other abusive characters that others try excusing the actions of but it does feel kinda overkill to write these big long emotional pieces about how terrible they are and how anybody who even thinks of them as redeemable should be dead before daybreak

Designing some unique individuals based off my own ref.

Morning Star

Tribe: Icewings

Pattern: Geode

Scales: *Frozen (When the ice texture that is normally on just the horns and claws travel to other areas of the body. Harder and heavier than standard scales and fluff.

Ice is stained to look like the blood of the other tribes.

“Fur”: Standard/ Masculine

Extra:

Morning Star was one of the top warriors during a time when the Icewings had a ruling king. A massive iceberg of a dragon the others would call her *queen-blooded and anticipated that she might aim to take the throne for herself. She had the attitude for it, she was mean-mouthed and made herself clear that she didn’t think a king should lead them. There was nothing in her way besides the gentle-natured king and his unhatched niece. However, the violence never came or maybe it was avoided? Seemingly overnight she went from planning a coup to being in the king’s back pocket. Close enough to him that she might as well have been the queen anyway, but nothing came of it. The niece would take her rightful place as queen with the old king and Morning Star being her right and left wings.

*Frozen scales are rare, more so than iced spines.

*Queen-blooded can refer to an individual that is unusually large and strong.

Star Shadow, my Wings of Fire sona!

I initially designed her when I was 15, and she was a NightWing-SeaWing hybrid with traces of RainWing. Now, she is a Night-Ice-Sea-Rain hybrid! She can speak to animals, over whom she is dangerously protective (she can and will gut other dragons if they bring them harm), and is telekinetic/telepathic (she will also scramble their brains, literally and/or figuratively). And, though initial impressions of her can be aloof and creepy, she is surprisingly soft-hearted deep down.

Although my love for the actual WoF books have waned, I am still very fond of this character design.

I coloured this with alcohol markers and white gel pens for the stars/lighting.

These were fun to do so i’m going to ramble under the cut

Zelkova

My fav! I just love how her colors turned out, and her leaves and horns. I didn’t mean for her crown to be crooked, I just forgot I wanted to add it until after I got her leaves how I wanted lol.

Decided to give her a second set of horns. It just seemed empty there but I didn’t want the first bigger so made another.

My only complaint with her would be the transition from scale to leaf is weird. It didn’t look as weird in the sketch and then I wasn’t sure how to fix.

I quite like how sharp and simple she turned out. Did mess up with the designs on her neck. There was supposed to be more black but I did the line-art wrong lol

Xenica

Originally I was going to have her be pale/white for various reasons but decided to base her palette on the butterfly that’s her namesake. Which I am glad I went with, it’s nice!

And I feel I really nailed her head shape and scale pattern. Though I don’t plan for these all to be perfectly in line with the canon drawings, she really is in line with that and I like it.
