Last tumblr post!!
Netflix is definitely the app of our generation besides social media apps. Without Netflix, we would be stuck with stupid commercials and pointless ads. Two of the biggest shows that are watched- Friends and The Office. Friends is very interesting, but so is The Office. People either love or hate the office. To be completely honest, I was not the biggest fan of it at first either. I started to watch the first episode and immediately became bored and turned it off. Then my friends peer pressured me into watching more. That is when it all began. I am now totally and completely, 100% obsessed with the office. The beginning season, season one, is pretty boring. Each episode is set up in a way for the viewers to get to know each of the characters personally. Just to get a little feel of what their personality is like and what their significance in the show is. After the first season, everything seems to make a lot more sense and the dry humor being used becomes hilarious. Too explain the office a little better- each episode is set up to make it look as if there are cameras filming the everyday life of people at a boring, paper company office. Just like a normal documentary. But it is really a documentary with in a TV show. Cool, right? I know. The boss, Michael Scott, is one of the biggest characters in the show by far. Until he decides to leave the show :( That is when I personally started to become bored again. The show just was not the same. Anyways, every episode is just another ordinary day for them, but something weird or crazy is always happening. Whether it is Dwight talking about his beet farm, Jim playing pranks on Dwight while flirting with Pam (these two eventually get married and have cute little babies) or Angela obsessing over her weird babies doing adult things posters. Once we get a little further into the show, around the last couple of seasons, they show the lives of certain characters a little deeper than just in the office. Some show their marriages, relationships, and other friendships. If Michael Scott stayed and they decided to create more episodes, I would definitely binge watch.

Confidence like Kanye
When it comes to confidence and a high ego, Kanye West is the man to look to. Kanye is known to have an “I don't care” attitude and way of life. He really just seems to not care what people think of him. I mean, he made a song called “I love Kanye” which is about himself and how much he loves himself. If that doesn't scream borderline arrogant, I don't know what does. But I don't blame him. HE IS LOADED. Along with being married to the famous Kim Kardashian, he is also, in my opinion, one of the best rappers of my generation. He helps people realize how much fun life can be when you just live it the way you want.

Possible Topics to Research
1. How divorce effects children and the family
I am considering writing about this topic because I can personally relate to it. If I can personally relate to it, I will be more interested in the material I am reading. I will also be more passionate about the topic in my paper.
2. How emotional support animals help people
I am also considering writing about this topic because of my belief in emotional support animals. I understand that I can not let my bias get in the way, but I find the topic very interesting. I also believe that more people should become more aware of how an emotional support animal effects a person.

The onion is LOCO
This article is very different compared to many others that I've read- and I've read a lot. I do believe that it’s biggest reason is to entertain, but maybe to even inform? When the article stated "What message does it send to the American people when their president is living in a ritzy palatial estate at the same time they're struggling to keep their heads above water?", it kind of made the reader realize how hard it is to live in society today, but how well it can pay off if you work your butt off enough. Obviously the president has ALOT of hard decisions and things to do, but with all the and work and dedication, he is allowed to have all the fancy stuff. Hard work pays off.

Stop killing the earth!!
Michael Spector’s last paragraph was very different. I believe that he used this paragraph to help get his point across a little better and kind of open the reader’s eyes to the problem. I believe that the last paragraph shows that he believes using geo-engineering to fix the planet is going to be a better option that not taking action at all. With that being said, it seems as if Spector has a good idea on what we should thin k about this method. He is trying to be persuasive by saying that the Maldives can just say “fuck you all-want to live” and use the method. That shows that anybody who wants to live can do it and just save us all.

plagiarism = bad
In this article, Brooke Winchell tries to entertain and inform students on how easy and dumb it is to plagiarize. I think this because of all the sarcastic advice he gave the student. Telling her to put “LOL”s and all that stupid text in it was just plain entertaining. It also informed me on how people catch plagiarism and how easy it is to tell if you really pay attention to the read. I believe tha he was pretty successful in getting fulfilling his purpose in this article and towards the student he was helping. He kind of just humiliated the girl in a very subtle and sarcastic way. With her being younger, she had to of obviously caught on right away that he was being a smarty pants and trying to tell her that she was caught and screwed if she turned that paper in, without having to call her out for it.

one STUPID tweet tweet
When it comes to a democratic debate, where is the best place to do so? With social media being the biggest source of communication in society, I do believe that it is a smart place to start the debate and really get the topic out there. The word can spread so fast and all of a sudden millions of people ae debating on a topic. So yes, I do believe that it is a good place for a democratic debate. However, when doing so one has to be very careful about what they say because other people love to over exaggerate something and that can blow up in your face.
Basically, be careful with what you post. Be smart about it, and be prepared to have some negative feedback from people behind their screens.

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/surviving-your-childs-adolescence/201112/the-impact-divorce-young-children-and-adolescents
In this article, Amy Morin expresses a lot of difficulties that come with divorce. Whether those difficulties are with the parents or the children, divorce has many effects on a family. She describes when, after the divorce, is it the hardest for a child to deal with the change in their life (the first two years). She then describes the emotional effects divorces causes on children like their worries and concerns. How after the divorce tends to have a lot of psychological effects on the child whether it be right away or when approaching adulthood.
This article can really help me on my paper. When Amy describes all the different ways divorce effects a child, she does not just talk about the emotional effects. She also discusses the effects it has when a child is older, or how it affects their academic performance. This will help me get a better perspective on how broad the effects divorce can be.

Related article 1
https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/surviving-your-childs-adolescence/201112/the-impact-divorce-young-children-and-adolescents
In this article, Carl E Pickhart describes the effect of divorce on younger children. When a young child is put in a situation like their parents’ divorce, they tend to become very confused and sad. With a lot of side effects, the child tends to become very emotional and clingy to the parents. Th child will begin to advance towards the independence of an adolescent faster than usual. When getting older, the child will then begin to rebel in a type of way. They think that because their parents hurt them, they are in the right to get them back. In order to help the younger child, it is better to try and maintain a steady schedule so that they can feel a little more in control with what is going on in their life, and a little less confused.
This article really helps open my mind to the effects of divorce on children. It relates to my topic because it shows how younger kids react and feel. Not only does it describe their reactions, but puts it more in a simple and easy way to understand. I can use this as background reminding me how younger kids think. It will also help me with getting a little background on what parents should be doing in order to help their child.

Solomon’s Credibility
Andrew Solomon is a man with many interests. Looking into his background, one can find many different articles he has written. These topics expand from LGBT to mental health and even global perspective. After reading the article assigned, he seems to be very knowledgeable and interested in the subject of Autism.
In 2006, Solomon published many other articles. Not all were about Autism or mental health, which shows that he has many other interests and is very knowledgeable on other topics. Along with many published articles, he has won multiple awards. This shows that he is a known and intelligent author, whose writing reaches out to many people.
To summarize “The Autism Rights Movement”, Solomon writes about Autism, Asperger's and other disorders. When describing these disorders, he emphasizes them to not be considered an illness or disease of the human body. He then describes the lives of different people with Autism which really helps understand his perspective on the subject. Trying to find a way for people with Autism to “fit” in society safely was also emphasized in the article, even with the struggles Autistic people face.

The End of Courtship
“The End of Courtship” by Alex Williams is a  short article talking about dating in today’s society. Years back, dating was more about a man, taking a woman out on a date (a nice restaurant or play) for a night and getting to know each other. Now a days, dating is more of a hook-up/ hangout for millennials. The advances in technology doesn't help the situation either. With new dating apps being made and texting becoming more popular, over the phone conversations are easier to have than in person. Especially for college students, the hook up culture is what they know, most haven't been on a real date in their late 20′s.
I prefer this article because I felt that it was attacking me in some type of way. I could relate to everything the author was talking about. Sad, I know. Williams explains the everyday dating life of a typical college student. He isn't wrong either. Hook ups and hang outs are basically all dating is to my generation. I am almost 21 years old and have “dated” multiple people. But can honestly say that I have not been taken out on an actual date.

The Cult Of Overwork Summary
The Cult of Overwork is an article that basically describes the number of hours people work, how those hours affect them, and how the hours are changing. In the beginning, many people worked a ridiculous amount of hours within a week. Over one hundred to be more precise. That is die hard dedication, but affects the person’s work ability and motivation. Over time, many different companies applied restrictions on when someone can and cannot come into work. For example, a lot of companies denied their employees to come into the office on Saturdays just to get a break. What wasn't understood was with all the studies showing that people who worked less were able to be more productive, why haven't  more companies denied working so many hours? Well, keeping the same person in for more hours at a time not only made more money for that person, but was cheaper for the company. On Wall Street, the employees are so used to working so many hours a day, that it became normal for them. If the company changes the hours an employee can work, will they still be as committed to their job?

Autobiography
My life is somewhat complicated. If I had the time to write a book about it, I could write a novel with multiple series. I was originally born in Waukegan Illinois, then moved to the Menominee Indian reservation around the age of 7. There I attended the Menominee Indian school district. While attending, I was the only non Native American student in the facility. This made bullying a big deal in my life. After middle school, I transferred over to the Shawano Community High School where I attended until graduation. Shawano high was a big transition. It was a little hard making friends considering everybody already knew each other and knew which group they belonged to. to help with finding friends, I joined the volleyball team. This is where my high school days became a blast. Volleyball was the best thing that had happened to me in a while. Not only did I enjoy playing the sport, but I was good at it too. Once my sophomore year came around, I and found my group of friends and came out of my comfort zone. Junior and Senior year flew by and all of a sudden it was time to apply for colleges and get ready for graduation. I applied for UW Madison and UW River Falls, was accepted to both but decided to go to UWRF due to expenses. Here is where I feel I really found myself as a person. I only have a couple more semesters left until I graduate and cannot wait to see where life takes me.

Research reference- invasive species in Minnesota
Romero-Alvarez, et al. “Forecasting Distributions of an Aquatic Invasive Species (Nitellopsis Obtusa) under Future Climate Scenarios.” PLoS One, vol. 12, no. 7, 2017, p. e0180930.
Starry Stonewart is a type of weed or algae that has become very invasive in North America, including Minnesota waters. This type of invasive species may affect the way Minnesota waters are used for recreational purposes, such as swimming or boating, due to there being a very dense population. Starry Stonewart will also affect different aquatic species that already exist. Now that the Starry Stonewarts are known and being watched, it will help get ahead start on maintaining this species in the future.
