honestly i think the reason i love the dynamic between keris & caz so much is because keris will actively seek out individuals she senses might be in distress or just generally have a less than positive disposition in life and she’ll try to make them smile or laugh. she’s a good pup with a heart of gold.

and caz? caz says he doesn’t care but he also knows keris cares about other people more than any human ever could so he’ll try to help her. it’s awkward, most of the time. sometimes it’s just him offering them a bread. but it’s ... oddly soothing. having this giant dude randomly offer you a chocolate bread. and i just think it’s a nice combo; the energetic little puppy and the soft, awkward giant.

i think the reason i love caz so much is because he’s not naturally nice. sure, his protective instinct of people around him is natural, but other than keeping people safe he does not really care all that much about them. but he taught and forced himself to learn compassion, to care. 

even when everyone hurls insults his way he cares, simply because he wants to be the best version of himself he can possibly be. because he wants to be the kind of person his niece and nephew can look up to when they grow up. he may not have a lot of time to spend with them, and he may not be around all that much. but he knows stories of what he does reach them anyway. and he wants to make sure most of them are overwhelmingly positive.

and even when he’s naturally got a somewhat gloomy disposition and tends to keep to himself he’s learnt to be friendly, polite. to get along with people because he wants to be the fun, supportive uncle they deserve. he’s angry, always. but he swallows it down and keeps going because his anger is not what he needs; it would blind him and he knows that well enough. instead he uses the anger to turn it into care. finds ways to twist and turn the anger around until it’s a fiery compassion for those around him.

and not going to lie? i find that incredibly impressive.

who is KERIS ?

“ the name keris is a girl's name of welsh origin meaning love.”

the wolf pup caz found that he had initially believed to be a rare breed of dog thanks to her surprisingly shiny and soft fur despite the fact she clearly did not have an owner, had been injured and had been hungering for days; originally intended to be sold he couldn’t find it in himself to get rid of her after she clearly had placed a lot of trust in him - he never wanted to consider if she even had a human treat her with kindness before given that wanderers and travelers clearly have had to been traveling past her without taking a second glance her way.

found by a strange man who keris, an excitable little pup with the unassuming tendency to try and befriend almost every stranger that comes her way, had been wary of from the start both caz and the pup found themselves treated to grilled orc meat by him. only then was caz told that keris was actually the reborn “garmr”, a legendary beast that had originally guarded the gates of the underworld before making her way to the human realm during the war of gods to serve under the god of death. having fallen the god of death, who had dearly loved her pet, took the last remaining fragments of garmrs soul and scattered them with the winds where her beloved wolf would eventually be reborn when all the fragments met. lo and behold, several dozen years later the fragments met and keris came to exist.

for now she remains in the form of a puppy that doesn’t seem to grow; despite that her strength should not be underestimated, with a single bite she can seriously injure even orcs. she doesn’t seem to remember her past life nor the god of death but she does seem to have a knack for finding hidden treasures and things no human could possibly hope to find.

surprisingly enough, for a companion that travels with someone as seemingly asocial as caz she is incredibly friendly and when left unsupervised (or, well, if caz averts his eyes for even a moment) she will try to befriend any and all strangers that come her way as long as their aura resonates with her.

anyways i just want to announce that for someone who travels with literally just a bag with a few spare clothes and doesn’t even have anything to put his coins in, caz has a funny amount of pictures and portraits of his niece and nephew.

i do not support callout culture. it started as a good idea giving psa's to warn people of dangerous people but it's become nothing more than a petty salt fest and i'm honestly too old and too tired to deal with that. if you support callout culture do not follow me or i will softblock you. that being said, i also am not a big fan of “DNI if you write with xyz”. unless you can give me a good and valid reason not to write with someone outside of “they suck” i will softblock you because at that point it’s just childish.

please tag content involving "gender discussion" and "spiders". those are the two topics i'm highly sensitive about as i have to deal with one on the daily and the other is, well, simply a fear i have.

i love shipping, but it is not a priority for me. caz is a delicate muse who can be hard to form a proper relationship with; hell, he's hard to befriend at times unless you simply decide to follow him around and he lets it happen. pre-established stuff of any sort is welcome though, so feel free to approach me about it i guess.

i might be selective with whom i follow and i will prefer to write with mutuals only but i have no problems writing with non-mutuals. just approach me and we can talk stuff out!

i tend to prefer to wing things but i am also willing to plot. the best way to interact with me is either sending me a dm to plot or to just randomly chuck an ask meme in my inbox. if you'd like to plot, though, feel free to ask for my discord.
