#75: He uses the TCE as his sonic screwdriver!

The Doctor's most notable gadget, the sonic screwdriver, functions as a great plot device. It does whatever the story needs it to do, unless the plot demands that it fail, in which case it does. It's recognizable, iconic, and a source of humor.

The Spymaster's TCE operates the same way. It starts off as a Tissue Compression Eliminator for killing people by reducing them rapidly in size: an "incredible shrinking device," as he announces it in the gif below from Spyfall II.

By Ascension of the Cybermen/The Timeless Children, however, the TCE has become multipurpose. It seems to work as a communications device between the Spymaster and the Cyber people. He can check messages on it...

He can also apparently use it to video chat with Ashad through its hologram projection capabilities.

Note that it's not fully clear that he's using the TCE for smartphone-like purposes in the previous two clips. However, the TCE's expanded abilities in The Power of the Doctor suggest that he's always upgrading the device. Therefore I like to assume that it is all the same device.

The Power of the Doctor introduces two new abilities of the TCE. First, it can reverse tissue compression, enlarging and revivifying its former victims [below]!

Second [and most hilariously], it acts as a universal remote control to trigger the lights and sound for the Spymaster's gloating Ra-Ra-Rasputin dance.

“i’m the doctor, mate, who the hell are you?!” but make it romantic 😻

so i was over the moon to see @msjomartin again on the centenary special and that ruth doctor interacted with spymaster @sacha_dhawan made it even more wonderful… as these characters are my current favourites and OTP (although i love all permutations of the #bestenemies in doctor who) and i didn’t think we’d ever see them interact on screen.

so here they are in a universe where things got off to a better start… or something like that

i’ve just been working on these heads so there’s detail / process pics after if you swipe.

i did spymaster’s hair with apoxie sculpt and curly fake fur. i did ruth doctor’s hair with the locs from @idolledit4u but i couldn’t root and didn’t think glue would work right on this kind of head so i ended up gluing them down with thin layer of black apoxie sculpt and it worked really well!

for a casual/relaxed version of her doctor who outfit, she’s wearing a wakanda forever doll shirt, unknown etsy jeans, shadow high boots, and a vest/shawl i made from a tshirt.

he’s wearing mostly clothes from various @bigchiefstudios figures except his boots are from elsewhere.

their beads/fidget tools are by @barbieandzen from her etsy.

i wish i remembered where the guitar came from but ???

they look pretty weird together but i figured if i make a happy headsculpt but still keep the sad one, i should make the sad one look sort of how i imagine spymaster when he’s not feeling well. so i overpainted my previous spymaster head in that way.

now i need to sealer them and sculpt their hairs after the paint and sealers dry. i might do the removable hair sculpts but not sure yet.

this is how i paint for myself, i cannot paint complex things for other doll people because stuff happens along the way and if it’s for me i can decide if i want it or not but for other people i would freak the fk out, basically

i tried to mix their original styles with some influence from the reboot.

still i know this isn’t how RH are “supposed” to look, but i like them so much on these sturdy cute RH and SH bodies and i feel way more motivated to play with them than i have in like a decade.

frankie had glue head so she’s bald currently. i stuck some mohair scraps with a hat to hold them on, but i think she likes this hat cos it matches her socks… hat OMG, shirt barbie, skirt unknown, socks unknown, sneakers RH. i also simulated her prosthetic leg from the reboot with a silver leg sleeve, but you can’t really see it well in this pic.

ghoulia is wearing a minipullip headband, CW shirt, goudreau shorts, OMG socks and SH shoes.

i’m still trying to find Clawdeen’s style and she needs a hair makeover… but she’s wearing RH/SH clothes and shoes, and a furry skirt off aliexpress (tucked up to be shorter). glasses might be bratz? necklace barbie.

finished part of a picture wall for Encanto background. photos are all from screenshots of the movie, mostly during the end scenes. most of the 3D frames were from aliexp and i painted them to look old… one is a sticker. might use more of the sticker frames in the next wall, probably. plus some couples photos 🥰 of félix/pepa and julieta/agustín. the rat art is the official ones used in the film, gathered from the instagram of Jose Francisco Martinez, who was so generous as to show us the details.

the rats, of course, have their own opinions about which sketches are best...
