In father brown 3x02, Sullivan and Goodfellow get to the house and from the way it’s cut it looks like they immediately go into the drawing room where the rest of the characters are.
Sullivan has just gotten there and this bitch Raleigh is like “I’ll ask the questions: how did my wife die?” Like bitch he just got here he doesn’t know.

Highkey Mrs Devine isn’t any more neurotypical than Sullivan is. I fear she is way too into crime. It’s just socially inept autism with chatty autism. They match each others freak.

In a modern au, Wyll would absolutely have done the thing in Spider-Man: Homecoming where Peter Parker is pretending to be Thor in the mirror. Except Wyll would be practicing his “Provoke the blade, suffer its sting” thing.

You could almost see her get ten times more freaked out just from him saying that. Both times.
“Remember Grace, it’s only pain” <- a piece of advice that can only be given by a guy who thinks that’s a reassuring thing to say to another human being because he views his own body as a piece of machinery

The only adhd tips that work:
1. Never tell anyone what you're planning to do until you do it (you will get a premature dopamine hit and sense of accomplishment from telling them and lose motivation to actually do it)
2. Never sit down (never sit down)

An apartment complex is called that not because of the building, but because of the social interactions.
And it’s actually a nickname. Apartment complex is short for Apartment complex relationships with people you see everyday but barely know.

Okay so by my understanding, a hot minute can be any length of time but is almost always used to describe something taking longer than expected.
When someone says they’ll be back in a hot minute they are saying they will be back soon but longer than a minute.
When someone goes on break and you say “they’ve been gone a hot minute” you are saying that a they have been gone longer than a usual break lasts.
On the shit discussion: I’m a native English speaker but the way I learned the different shits was by context clues and tone. Because it’s cursing you don’t really need to understand how to use it right away and you can just slowly use what you understand. I know lots of people say you aren’t really fluent in the language unless you can curse in the language but you can 100% get away with not cursing until you feel confident because so many situations where fluency is important such as jobs or school interviews, cursing isn’t really appropriate.
Basically most native speakers just pick up these slang words after hearing them for a while and there’s so many different types of people in America at least that it’s totally normal to be confused and ask about slang words.
english slang is awful i would hate to be learning this shit. like the word shit. something can be horseshit or bullshit which means it's a lie. but cow shit is just poop. and something can be dogshit which means it's really bad quality. but cat shit is just poop.

Disclaimer that I haven’t actually seen episode ten yet but this is what I think based on what I know.
I’ve added it to my “Sullivan is autistic” file because he obviously has a very strict moral code that he applies to himself and others which may partly come from his father but I cant see Walter teaching him morals as much as we(cops) are good and right and criminals are always bad. Considering how respectability and Christianity went hand in hand during the time period, Walter probably claimed to be either Anglican or Catholic (probably Anglican based on his interactions with father brown) no matter what he actually believed and probably forced Sullivan into Sunday school while he was off networking with the other churchgoers. So, during his formative years Sullivan is taught the typical Sunday school stuff about treating people with kindness and loving thy neighbor, as well as the Ten Commandments. He internalizes these things because they are clear rules on how to live and they currently don’t contradict anything his father has said to him. Later, through school, church, or his father, Sullivan learns that children do not question their parents. So, whenever Sullivan as a child sees his father doing things that may clue him into the fact that Walter isn’t the greatest, he ignores it because that’s his father and he obviously wouldn’t break the rules Sullivan has learned.
When Sullivan grows up and begins to realize that his father doesn’t want the best for him, he rationalizes that everything Walter makes him do technically makes sense therefore he has no actual basis for disobeying his father.
Side note that I also attribute Sullivan arresting everyone the minute there’s evidence against them is because that was what he was taught in the police academy and he didn’t pick up on the general idea that he doesn’t actually have to arrest anyone. Of course sometimes he just wants to charge someone because he wants it over with.
Anyway, this all culminates into how he behaves when Walter starts criticizing Isabel. He’s learned to think like Walter when dealing with him so he feels like he can understand Walter’s pov. But, he seems to push back more than it seems is usual for him because of the influence of the fb gang. Then, when he finds out walter did something he considers morally wrong, he finally has actual reason to fully push back against him.
A lot of these ideas are from my own experience with rules and learning how to sus out social nuances.
What a manipulative move Inspector Sullivan did. Isabelle my father got me a job in Special Branch in London. "sad puppy dog eyes" of course, (more sad eyes), I'll turn it down. Heavy sigh. Your beloved Kembleford, you won't want to leave it. Almost weeping.
Geez!!!!!! Someone kick him
