“you should add riddles to your show.” nobody asked, nor was there any lead up to the suggestion, but esme was confident in it, nodding to herself decisively before turning towards adam for a reaction. “whoever figures out the answer first gets to pick the next song or something.”

adam takes a moment to think about her suggestion. it wasn’t a bad idea it was more of trying to figure out how to fit in. “hello to you too, esme.” he jokes before nodding along with her. “it’s a good idea and i think the people would like picking songs but..” pausing he looks back at her. “you should run the segment.”

“i think what’s keeping me sane is reminding myself that this will be all over soon. this won’t matter so much in a few months anyway.” that brought relief to her knowing that she could go out and do what she wanted. she craved that indepence. “oh yeah? what’s the poor baby’s name?” she raised a brow, curious on what it could possibly be. heather smiled at his gesture, relaxing her hand with his comfortably. “i feel like a drive far away would be pretty nice. i guess just a change of scenery.” she shrugged. it wasn’t like she had a thing in mind exactly, except that she wanted just some time with adam alone. there just seemed to be a lot getting in the way recently.

“good point. i don’t get the point in it anyway... i know it’s for what they think are the right reasons, but i’m betting half the students aren’t taking too seriously like your partner. like you said though it’ll all be behind us soon.” he grins trying to stay positive. “gaultier, some designer ariel likes. she gets mad when i shorten to tier though that’s kind of fun.” glancing down at their hands together he’s reminder more of how much he has missed her. “a daytrip sounds nice. i’m pretty sure there’s a fair going on about an hour or so away we could check that out?” there was no hiding the excitement on his face at the thought of getting to finally be alone with her again. with everything going on it felt like they were on the backburner and he was ready to change that.

Zoe turned her head and shot a quick glance at the classroom. It really did look like they were having fun. “Sure.” Zoe took a few more steps towards him but stopped not sure if she should fully follow him in. She looked around wondering if there were any students hanging around they hallway they were in, but it turned out it was just the two of them. Her fingers began to play with the material of the strap on her purse feeling a mixture of nerves and excitement, but it was mostly nerves. Zoe shrugged her shoulders. “I suppose sitting in for one meeting couldn’t hurt.” 

“awesome.” he grins proudly. anytime someone joined a meeting, even if it was only for one, he’d get excited that people felt comfortable enough to come in no matter the reason. “i think they’re discussing some ideas for a mixer so you picked a good meeting. and if you change your mind that’s okay too.” he assures her trying to keep a no pressure thing. walking through the door he glances behind him to see if she’ll walk through the door before sitting in one of the open seat towards the back.

heather shook her head lightly just thinking of the stoner she got stuck with, “he’s basically a dead-beat dad. i got partnered up with a guy who just never shows up so there goes my luck.” she explained with a shrug. it was probably better that way, due to the outburst she would have done to the guy if he was there. “we could probably do tomorrow. you can drop off your baby with ariel. i’m sure she will love that.” there was a bit of a devilish grin as she spoke. “i can find someone to help me out so we’ll be free of any sort of responsibility.”

“wow i think these teachers are out to get us sometimes i swear. but bright side is when he fails he’ll have to redo it.” rocking the baby some more it finally started to calm down. as much as adam likes babies he was glad for the fussing to stop. “sounds like a plan to me. you know i think she might lowkey like it she even came up with the name.” he never thought he’d see the day his cold ex could thaw off a little. “good then tomorrow it can just be us and some very much needed alone time.” uses his free hand he takes hers giving her hand a small kiss before interlocking their fingers. “what should do first?”

heather immediately dropped her shoulders upon seeing adam walk his way towards her. this project became a nuisance, always getting in the way now with the time they both needed to put in separately. “it must be a curse with who we got stuck with.” she placed a quick kiss on his lips as he sat next to her. “now how can i resist an offer like that?” she sighed realizing how much she had missed spending time with him. “i think we’re going to need some time to ourselves soon, away from these robot babies. i’m sure we can ditch them for like a day and just hang out.”

adam could see her starting to relax a little more glad to know he could help some. honestly he was just glad to be able to have some time with her even if it has to be in a crowded place with a crying robot baby. “right? i tried to switch  so i would’ve have to be with ariel but no luck. what happened with yours?” kissing her back he smiles before shrugging. “looks like you can’t.” reaching over he takes the baby, rocking it in his arms. “i like the way you think babe. a day break to just chill and hang out sounds perfect. think we can get away with tomorrow or should we push it back.”

Zoe nodded and forced a smile. “I was just trying to find my locker. I passed by this room and wanted to see what all the fuss was about.”  Her locker was nowhere near this hallway but it was the only excuse she could come up with on such short notice. Thank God for all those improv classes. “Sounds…fun… I might tell my cousin about it in case he’s interested in joining. He’s bi.” Zoe told lies for two reasons. One: to get what she wanted. Two: to protect herself or cover her tracks. At this point, the lies were spilling out of her mouth like word vomit. The curiosity she felt was too strong to fight. “Can allys join too? Or is it strictly just lgbtq+?”

“oh okay. can’t blame you for be curious i haven’t been to a meeting in a minute, but it sounds like they’re having an extra good time today.” it wasn’t always fun and games in the club but when it is it makes it even better. “sounds good we’re always looking for more members. i can get you a flyer if you want?” walking around her he starts to slowly make his way to the door. “of course! anyone can join we don’t judge here. as long as the person isn’t an asshole or a bigot they’re welcomed. you could sit in and see you think your cousin or you wanna join? no pressure though.”

“I’m fine.” Her answer came quicker than she would have liked it to.  Calm down Zoe.  “I just got lost.”  She thought to herself. Thankfully she didn’t think he had seen her peeking in. “Whats going on in this room anyways?” She asked as if she didn’t know. Though she was too afraid to go in she wanted to get a feel for what the club was actually like and what the people were like. 

adam nodded at her answer not really believing her but he also wasn’t going to give her the third degree either. “what are you looking for? maybe i can point you in the right direction.” he offered before glancing over at the room. “the lgbtq+ club meets there after school a few days a week.” wondering if the club had something to do with this he made sure to add, “it’s pretty nice and welcoming to everyone.”

the dot was overcrowded and just filled with so much conversations going on around her. she just wanted to enjoy some time to herself with the hot latte she had ordered. it all stopped once she had to tend to her assignment who was craving attention. “this is torture.” she put her cup down as she held the baby in her arms. “my partner for this project has basically been nonexistent. i’m not even pregnant and here i am a single mom.” she was talking out loud at this point adding to the noise.

to say adam needed a coffee pick-me-up is an understatement. he already wasn’t getting the best sleep before but dealing with the baby project definitely didn’t help at all. after making his partner take her turn with the baby he finally made it to the dot. seeing how crowed it was almost made him leave till he heard his girlfriends voice looking over at her. “yeah i know what you mean, my partner sucks too.” he said before joining her at the table. “consider me here to help. why don’t i take care of the baby while you finish that coffee? i’m off baby duty for once anyway.”

Zoe peeked into the room of students fighting the urge to walk in. Of course, she’d never do that but it didn’t stop the thought from crossing her mind. The LGBTQ club was currently having a meeting and Zoe was once again standing outside the door doing some spying. She couldn’t hear what they were saying but they looking like they were having fun, like they had a strong sense of community; that was something Zoe longed for. Caught up in her thoughts she noticed someone inside was staring at her and panicked. Zoe turned away from the door about to walk away but found herself bumping into someone else instead. “Sorry.” 

adam hasn’t been to one of the clubs meeting in a minute, getting into the habit of skipping out on things he enjoys lately, but today decided to try and go back. without realizing how late he was running he tried hurrying to the classroom and before he knew it zoe appeared in front of him causing him to run into her. “it’s my bad i was in a rush. are you okay?” he asks noticing a hint of panic with the stranger.
