COMMUNICATION FROM IRAN: "They are collecting children from the streets; Immigrant children who are forced to work due to structural discriminations against them. They have no ID, no rights, no one to defend them. The majority of our society is silently approving the procedure, despite the apparent sympathy for children. At first, they wanted to deport the children back to Afghanistan. It was absurd. How can you send a 7 year old child who was born in Tehran back to nowhere and away from her family? Now they are sending them to detention camps — camps that include children, men, and women all in the same ward. It is a systematic raping of these children. Social activists tried to oppose the procedure through legal processes. But different establishments just play us along, while they are collecting the children at the same time. Various NGOs who are active in the field of child labor have become so dependent on the establishment and government that they didn't dare do anything for these children. Now we are trying to campaign against this process. We want to promote public sympathy for these children, we want to follow up the legal procedures ourselves, and we want to connect this issue to other issues including child labor in our society. In Solidarity" There is no official organization organizing this resistance; it is too dangerous for them in Iran. Instead there are 30 social activists anonymously taking this into their own hands. The money will be used to help get the children released from these unjust detention camps. We are here safe in Canada and we can afford to help those who risk their lives and well-being to fight a tyrannical theocracy. “
