spoilers below cut
This is going to be scatterbrained, though I've tried to put my thoughts together cohesively enough. Sorry in advance.
Rewatching chapter 1 and realizing that the two students who discovered the cold lockers are the first and last ones out respectively honestly shook me to my core. The same way my heart sank when I realized Mai predicted her own death in her interview
"I think she'll go running around upstairs, fall through the floor, and die like an idiot."
Chapter 5 was incredible, and proved just how much care and attention was put into this project. Every decision was made for a reason, one small change, one different survivor or one missed opportunity and chapter 5 can't happen. It's a car crash in slow motion. Everyone's actions, everyone's words, every time someone made the choice to reach out to one another or put someone else down culminated into creating the chapter 5 killer.
We still don't know what Yonekura's end goal is. What purpose the killing game serves, but I do have a idea.
I think Hasegawa Ken was the intended outcome.
I think Yonekura is studying the exact science of how to make a monster.
After finishing Tetro Pink I was left with a pit in my stomach, a sinking sense of dread and horror that I've only experienced interacting with one other piece of media, and that was House of Leaves - and if you've ever actually read that book, you'll know that is high fucking praise.
It's the sense of existential dread felt by Ken, the dawning horror for both him and ourselves as he becomes aware of the medium he's in. Sure, he may not have broken the fourth wall in the most literal sense, but he got a peek through the curtain and caught of glimpse of the grand plan.
And do you know what's all the more terrifying?
He saw something we couldn't.
It's the fact that he knew the names of future participants before the next game even began, despite there being no way for him to ever find that information. It's the fact that he knew his every move was being watched and he used his own universe's medium to trick us, the supposed all-seeing eyes behind the screen, and manipulated us exactly how he manipulated the other students. It's the fact that he's a game show contestant realizing he's in a game show, and deciding that if he's forced to be on camera, then at least he'll give the viewers an experience they'll never forget.
Hasegawa Ken is a character that will go down in Fangan history, no doubt, and his very existence as a self-aware character scares me to the core.

So, as Tetro draws to a close and everyone is still scrambling to lock in their final guesses before the chapter 5 trial airs, I actually want to hear, in honor of disproven theories past, what everyone's favorite crackpot ideas were throughout the entirety of Tetro Pink for old times sake.
I'll go first:
I believed Okazaki was Yukino is disguise, waiting impatiently for Harada to recognize her and growing continually more annoyed the longer he remained clueless...
My very first tumblr post was literally about how Kamimura died from the elements, which was... a choice in retrospect...
I thought Wada's haircut was foreshadowing him impersonating and killing Yanagi, due to me mistaking one for the other once in chapter 4...
Watari spontaneously combusted from tampered spices... I still think this one would have been epic...

[deep sigh] okay let’s do this.
So, In summary:
Hiroaki is back on drugs/in anaphylactic shock
Yanagi is concussed/sick
Wada has almost starved himself to death
Tamba has completely lost the plot
Ojima got DRUNK
Mai received a freaking mystery mouse-ka-tool and is about to kill tamba out of sheer annoyance
Hasegawa got so high he saw the fourth dimension and became the newest club president of the Doki Doki Literature Club
And the scientists are about to be punted into the fucking shadow realm
…is that it?…are we all good now?…are we done?…Please???
#tetro danganronpa pink#tetro pink#Von Babbitt you absolute madwoman#This was NOT where I thought this fangan was gonna go back in January…

STAFFSIDE QUESTION
Okay I've been chipping away at staffside for some time now and am still very, very confused and out of the loop, but... does kan still have Okazaki's body? I know Yonekura shot the other doctor but last I checked she and Okazaki were being kept in the same room, but Yonekura made no mention of her body being there when Kan had his breakdown? The whole "stealing Okazaki's body" thing is such a wild and disturbing detail to me, like... if the kids just opened the cold lockers they'd realize she was missing... but they just don't know because why would they ever need to look?
Because I'm not on twitter and don't read staffside live, have events in staffside ever foreshadowed or were further elaborated on in the main story? Because I don't know which is more disturbing, that Okazaki's missing corpse is going to become a plot point in chapter 5 or that the casual audience will remain blissfully unaware that Kan is desecrating that troubled soul's body even now.
Don't really know why this is the most uncomfortable thing in Tetro for me, but I was very surprised on my first readthrough of the doc to learn about this. Feels like the kind of thing that would be talked about more on here, idk.
I'm just glad Watari never realized Okazaki was gone... The game already broke her spirit, but I think that would have destroyed her.

TAMBA TIME

First time doing digital art. I've been fighting this drawing for two weeks. Still looks rough but IDK, I had a vision. Someone else who has more talent and a better setup than a laptop track pad can recreate it if they are feeling inspired.

Honestly, shout out to games that turn social interaction into combat mechanics, never has a battle system conveyed how high the stakes are like encountering a peer on 1 HP

*KICKS DOWN DOOR*
ALRIGHT EVERYBODY LISTEN UP
I don't wanna hear one more word of slander against my girl Nishino 'cause let you tell ya, her plan was 4D chess levels of genius and ya'll just ain't ready to admit it!!!
Self-immolation is a hell of a way to go, and Watari knew this. The other's got it wrong when they assumed she burned down the school to kill them all. Watari loved each Hama and non-Hama equally and would trade her life for theirs at a moment's notice.
Because here's the thing. She wanted out of the school. EVERYBODY wanted out of the school. As far as she knew, there was sky just behind the balcony on the third floor, all they needed to do was tear down the walls around them and boom, freedom, but because INTENTIONAL property damage would result in execution or the Kan treatment, she had to be smart about how she went about it. And thus, the plan began to form.
Here are her options:
Watari sets school on fire, which would result in her death or torture, and the rabbit might quell the flame before any severe damage could be done. Nobody is better off for it. OR, major damage in done and they can escape. Very risky.
2 Watari kills herself in the blaze, but the flames may still be put out before any major damage, there is no trial because suicide, and she only succeeds in traumatizing her friends and leaving them worse off for her efforts. Flames could cause severe structural damage, and lead to the other's escape, but still very risky.
3 Watari sets someone up to kill her, they go to trial and vote wrong because nobody knew they were the blackened to begin with, one person escapes, the game ends.
4 Watari sets someone up to kill her, they go to trial, somehow they decern who she set up to kill her, and they execute them. They only have one trial left and the motive is nullified, giving relief to Wada, Tamba, Ojima, and Hasagawa.
5 This is the best outcome in her eyes. Watari sets someone up to kill her, the walls come down, and the students and the blackened escape together.
Options 3 through 5 have the greatest chances of success in her eyes. If her objective of tearing down the school fails, then at least she can save one person, and who better than her best friend, the one who's stuck by her side since chapter 2, who has a mom and sister who needs their son and brother. Her plan is nigh foolproof, there's a good chance it works. If they hadn't found the battery, there's a good chance Tetro Pink could have ended right there and then.
And here's the thing. Watari had no way to know the school was underground. Her plan worked. The wall came down in front of Ojima and Hiroaki, if they weren't underground they would have seen the sky, just like she wanted. It was the one variable in her plan than caused Option 5 to fail. She almost got them out.
She even ensured that no one would be on the third floor except for her when the blaze erupted. The other's would be okay on the lower floors, after all, they had the pool.
Watari played the ace up her sleeve in a desperate attempt to get as many of her classmates out as she could. She put the safety of the students over her own life, LIKE THE DAMN HEADMASTER SHE WAS. AND I WILL NOT STAND BY TO SEE HER BE VILLANIZED ANY LONGER.
HEADMASTER WATARI, rest in peace, I hope you and Okazaki find each other in your next life. You certainly left a hell of a flame for her to follow...

Shit like this is why I don't, and will never, have anonymous asks turned on. My philosophy is that if you have such a big problem with something or someone that you go out of your way to make their day a little bit worse then you'd better have the balls to say it with your username front and center. Cowards can, and always will, take the path that least inconveniences themselves when available, so removing the option of anonymity is a good way to disuade the majority of morons from acting the fool.
I have a lot of respect for Von Babbitt for remaining civil and continuing to share her work despite the loud few that are simply jealous of a good thing gaining the attention it deserves. I know I'd have gotten petty and deleted everything out of spite after the first threat of violence and she's been dealing with this since tetro began. And on top of that she's continuing to make content for the future, not letting the hatred ruin her vision. I could never. the majority of YA'LL could never. So remember to have class on the internet ya'll, nobody likes a bully.
whichever one of you assholes decided itd be funny to criticize THE FUCKING TRIAL PREMIERE, you are childish. You wanted to share your nonsense opinion that not a single person asked for (I hope), when you had around 6 months to being it up, we are 4 chapters into tetro pink, you have no business complaining about shit like this. And I know the person/people complaining wont see this post, but I just wanted to get this out because people who nag about Tetro are getting on my last nerve. I swear, if Vonbabbitt breathed the wrong way, people would send her a truckload of anon hate.

You ever just get hit with a wave of childhood nostalgia so hard it heals something within you never knew was broken in the first place?
Walked into work this morning and the family I nanny for was watching The Big Comfy Couch. The second I saw that clown and her dolly I immediately choked up. The mom looked concerned as I wiped tears from my eyes during the ten second tidy. The kids and I had a marathon all morning while we played and now we all practice the clock stretch. Life is pretty good : )

Honestly, Okazaki would have thrived in DRDT. That group of gremlins engage in such high levels of tomfoolery daily that she'd have to up her anti to keep up with them. The Tetro Pink cast just weren't ready for her level of freak.
