You know I really hated Rey being a Palpatine because it’s just to justify her power. Anakin came from nothing but everyone readily accepted his power.

When I saw her getting angry and struggling I really thought they were going to allow Rey to grow and find peace with herself and to prove that you can come from nothing and still be amazing. And they just turned around and said she’s a Palpatine and anger issues are heredity and you can’t have any power unless you come from an important bloodline (cough either from the two men and their clan, Skywalker or Palpatine) even a with her force lightning really could have emphasised emotion and finding peace tying in with Ben’s redemption and the both of them walking out ALIVE and together having beaten palpatine because they were a DYAD with peace and this balance

I need some happy reylo things so here are some little bits and bobs from my brain (various thanks to @popcornpages88, my comrade in reylo)

Ben is organised and neat while fixing up ships and droids but Rey is a tornado. chaos ensues when they try to work to her but somehow it works

when they work together on something they move like a well oiled machine. they talk very little when they're concentrating but they can fix almost any problem together

it takes Ben time to adjust to being around the resistance. at first he only sees people who hate him but in time he sees people who have been hurt, just like him. he vows to fix what he has done

Rey is a run and jump person and Ben is a always catching person.

they nap together. all the time. they're just sleepy.

Rey refuses to let Ben reach things that are high up.

Finn and Poe are constantly trying to get them to go on an actual date. so far it has not worked.

they have matching strips of cloth cut from the same fabric on each of their lightsabers

ben heals his lightsaber at some point I will write about it I promise stay tuned

Ben likes to sit and listen to Finn and Poe talk about their experiences. he's happy they have eachother.

theyre really competitive when it comes to flying. usually it's just best to put them in the same ship so they don't start racing

Poe can outfly both of them but neither admit it

Ben personally thanks Poe for being a dick to hux.

I really like this post because it sums up a lot of the thoughts I have myself about reylo. I agree on pretty much every point especially the unjustified hate towards Rey. I do genuinely think the love story between them made the series better but I think it should have been told differently. (if u ask me Rian Johnson should have written all three of them). it's important for reylos (myself included) to consider these points!

My thoughts on reylo as someone who just joined the fandom this year

Wowwwww thats a lot to unpack. So I'm pretty indifferent to shipping. I like and don't really care that much about the whole romance aspects. I will say this though. I like reylo in some ways. I am not a crazy fan about it. I would much rather prefer a relationship between Ben and Rey after he redeems himself more than just saving her life. Perhaps rebuilding the places his armies destroyed and trying to reconnect with the people as a changed man. Maybe learn his place as an Organa. (Yeah not into Solo sorry. #LeiaForever) I mostly felt into reylo when the Ben parts showed rather than Kylo Ren.

Now my issue with reylo right now is all the hate that Rey gets. People claiming she doesn't deserve to be a Skywalker cause she isnt related by blood and stuff like that. Also that she should be called Solo cause of her relationship with Ben. Like? A woman can choose her own last name. Her romantic relationships don't define her. Especially a romantic one that has a lot of conflict. I really think Rey deserves to be a Skywalker because Luke and Leia believed in her and lead her to be a hero. It was the Skywalker family that lead Rey to accepting herself and being the hero she was meant to be. Luke and Leia heavily influenced Rey's life and path. They made Rey a Skywalker. And I love that.

I also have an issue with reylo because people ship it solely for the excuse that they want Rey to be the baby machine and carry on the bloodline. Personally I find that creepy. And I don't agree with it. As a childfree by choice person I find that part of the fandom gross. I think Rey is perfect as a childfree woman who finds her place in the world. A hero. That's representation I personally need. And childfree couples deserve representation too. Not every hetero couple has to have babies. Like come on.

Now my next issue. I don't like that people are hashtagging #bensolodeservedbetter everywhere. Like I make Rey edits and someone puts that on my insta???? I personally think Ben deserved time to actually redeem himself but he doesn't deserve better. He needs to earn that. Yes I think he deserved to earn it and that means him living. But he doesnt deserve better. And I'm tired of people hating on Rey. I thought reylo was about loving both characters yet everyone chooses to hate Rey to love Ben?

I think reylo could have worked if they went about it a different way. Less nonconsensual moments and more something natural between them. More Ben coming out of Kylo to give Rey actual care instead of looking manipulative. Overall I still like and don't like the ship for many reasons so I'm pretty indifferent about it.

But one thing is for sure. I don't like seeing people hating on each other over shipping. I wish this whole reylo part of the trilogy was handled better or not used. I think reylo shippers shouldnt be attacking others and being toxic. I think others shouldnt attack reylo for liking reylo.

the JB situation

ok so I was a fan of john for ages. I fully stanned the whole star wars cast for years and the sequals are some of my favourite things of all time. I've also been a fan of reylo for ages too (not to mention stormpilot). these ships and these films make me so happy and have been a crutch for me for a long time but now since JB has been attacking reylos and the rest of his fans followed suit I've been avoiding this fanbase more and more.

despite all of this I am still a fan of reylo and I just want to enjoy this fanbase. I want to thank all the pro reylo account s and the people who don't ship reylo but are still being kind to those who do. to all the people attacking reylos, I need to you remember that this is a fictional ship what you are doing is affecting real people.

tl; dr - stop attacking people based on fictional relationships. please.
